A/N: I know I haven't updated in forever and I'm sorry! I've been waiting for a good Keenler/Lizler moment to write about and to actually get the motivation. After the recent episode (2x06) I got the inspiration for this. I hope you guys enjoy it. It takes place in the end of 2x06 with flashbacks to the first five episodes of Season 2 and the last few episodes of Season 1! x

They hadn't talked in weeks. Ressler had been ignoring Liz ever since they'd gotten back to work. He was still living alone in his little apartment and she was living out of a suitcase in a hotel. Everything had changed between them.

On the night of the kiss Ressler and Liz had never been happier. They'd both realised their feelings toward one another but after Meera was killed their feelings changed. Liz was the one who had found her in the club. That day was the last time Ressler had spoken to Liz in a way that wasn't work related.

Ressler was turning up to work late every day and Liz was becoming more and more worried. He had no reason to be late apart from sleeping in but he never addressed the problem. He needed to talk to someone about the problems he'd been having but he continued to deny the help.

After many more criminals being caught Ressler was now the target. He'd been caught, lost and running for his life and only now was he safe and back where he belonged. He was sat on the back of the ambulance while the FBI and paramedics surveyed the house.

Samar was watching on as Ressler sat on the ambulance, his ear and cuts patched up. He'd gone through hell that day. Liz frowned as she made her way over to him. If she'd known what he'd gone through she would have gone out there looking for him. She knew of the danger in the woods but she would of given her life to save his. She only hoped he'd do the same.

"You okay?" Liz asked as she sat beside him. He only glanced up at her as she rested her hand on his shoulder. If she could comfort him in one way this would be the way she would choose.

Ressler only shook his head. "I'm fine, Liz," he sighed. "Don't worry about me. I'm not worth it,"

Liz frowned and looked down at her free hand. She opened it up slightly to reveal the small container of pills she had found inside. When he was captured everything he had on him was taken - his gun, his badge, his pills.

She knew he wasn't okay. If he was the psych wouldn't be waiting to talk to him. But she sighed and subtly passed the contained of pills to him. It was wrong of her to give them back, but maybe she could help him?

"I can't not worry about you, Ressler," Liz exhaled and looked up to the trees above them. It reminded her of when he comforted her many months ago after she had been taken by the Stewmaker. He had hugged her and picked her up when she'd fallen. It seemed as though the time had come for her to do the same.

"Why not, Liz? Everything has changed between us," he frowned and looked at the pill bottle in his hands. Why was he doing this to himself? He'd changed himself. He'd ruined something in his life. He didn't want to disappoint Liz. "It should be easy not to."

Liz took a deep breath and lowered her hand off his shoulder down to his free hand which she scooped up in her own. "Because you need someone to worry about you, Don," she said. "You've been through so much today and you need someone to care about you. I know what you've been through because I've been through it too. I'm here for you."

"I don't need anybody to be here for me, Keen! I'm fine on my own and I have been for months. I don't need anybody!" Ressler exclaimed, shakily standing up and pointing a finger at Liz. "You don't know what I went through out there. You have no idea!"

Liz was shocked. He'd never really yelled at her before and she didn't like it. She felt embarrassed. She knew that Samar was watching on from over near the cars. She hoped that she'd at least have the decency to turn away while she and Ressler were having a private moment.

"Ressler," she began, but found herself unable to continue. What could she say to that? He'd told her he didn't need her anymore. Even when he'd comforted her many times over the last few months.

Only a few months ago had he ran after her and kissed her. They'd gone back to his apartment and watched crappy late night tv and he'd cooked the chicken parmigiana he'd boasted about. He'd wanted to kiss her all night but he'd only just stopped himself.

She was standing at the door, ready to go home after a long night. They both had work in the morning and figured it easier for her to go home and get to work on time the next morning. He'd stood at the door and smiled at her and just as she was about to turn and leave he had stepped forward and pressed his lips to hers once more.

Now everything was cold between them. "I don't-," she attempted to continue but did not want to hurt his feelings. She shook her head and stood up. "I'm sorry."

Liz began to walk away. She could never stand it if she made him upset and found that the only way to get out of a bad situation was to leave before she ruined something else. Her marriage had ended and she didn't want to ruin the work relationship she had with Ressler either.

Samar was back over at the car leaning back against it and watching shadows moving throughout the house. She was back at work after being shot only a few weeks earlier but Cooper had forbidden her from doing any real running work. Usually she was back at the Post Office with Aram.

"Did you hear that?" Liz asked as she leant up against the car beside Samar. She turned to Liz and gave her a weak smile. Yes.

"Bits and pieces. I'm sorry that you and Agent Ressler had to argue over something so little. But I think you should leave him be. He doesn't need anything else to bother him today." Samar stated, looking over at Ressler behind him and back at the house.

Liz's eyes followed Samar's and found Ressler sitting back at the ambulance with his head in his hands. Had she caused that? She frowned and turned back to Samar, about to speak again.

"I can talk to him if you like?" She suggested. Liz had barely nodded before Samar began to quickly walk off to see Ressler. It was barely five minutes before she returned. "He wants to see you." She smiled.

Liz raised her eyebrows and stood up from the car, making her way over to Ressler. He gave her a weak smile as she sat down beside him. "Liz," he began, taking a deep breath and looking down at his feet. "I'm sorry. You didn't deserve that at all."

"No, Don- I'm sorry. It was my fault," Liz sighed and looked down at her own feet. She couldn't let him take the blame. He needed to get the stress out of him, not replace it with more.

Ressler rolled his eyes and shook his head. "Liz, I was the one who yelled at you. I just want to apologise so please just let me. You don't deserve my wrath. I'm just tired and worried, okay? I'm sorry I haven't spoken to you properly in months. We lost Meera and I took it incredibly hard after losing Audrey."

"I know you took it hard, Don," Liz said. "I knew you would. It was hard for all of us. I just wondered if you regretted it. If that was the reason you ignored me. If you regretted the kisses.."

"I don't," Ressler said, his voice barely audible. "But right now I need some time. I need to talk to people and I need some time by myself."

Liz smiled over at him as he reached his hand down to hers and entwined their fingers. "I know, Don," she stated. "Take as much time as you need. I'm here for you, you know that right? Whenever you need me. I'll come running."
