I finally returned with a post! PLEASE DON'T HATE ME! Just had some things to do….AND I had to get familiar with AC4.
I felt cold now. I should have lain completely low from the time I stepped out. The problem was, that I had no other place to go, or turn…but for Goodness sake, I couldn't hunt! Nor did I think I could swim! I sincerely had no idea of anything!
The others, who weren't even supposed to be looking at me, were looking at me with widened faces. Forget the rules right then and there. Edward continued to glare as Ace marched down the woodened stairs with purpose.
I believed he was angry by the danger flashing on his face as he got uncomfortably close. Once at my face, he grip my arm incredibly tight, and practically dragged me across the deck to the furthest part of the ship we could go. I knew I was bruising now, and my headache shock me with every large step I took with this giant.
I believed he was going to toss be off board. That would have been lovely! Anything would do right about now. The cool waters would hit my face and give me reason to vomit, as I couldn't do.
Just as he got me to the edge, I witnessed a quick dark hand rise above me, but he halted in his movement just before I could feel the hot lash across my face.
"Adewale!" Edward shouted from the helm. Ace froze from his stance to look that way. I became confused immediately! I looked at ace, who in turn looked back at me with a snarl.
"We do not strike women. We only fight the ones who cause the most pain."
Ace lowered his arm and eased his temper. The man was really going to strike me. He was going to lash me across the face so hard that it would have knocked me off the edge and into the icy blue sea. Strange part was that I might have died because I couldn't recall swimming skills. And to top it off, Ace here, just responded to Adewale! I had no idea what to call him, or what to think of him at this moment. I didn't know if he was my enemy, or my friend.
"CAPTAIN!" Shaw barked across the deck. Edward looked at the man's pointing finger outward at the sea. All eyes slowly followed Edwards eyes and witnessed the view. I large white ship was in the far distance seeming to approach the Jackdaw.
"Enemy ship, captain!" Another crew member shouted, making the others antsy.
"MAN THE HELM!" Edward Shouted out as all men started scattering like roaches.
I remembered roaches…but couldn't remember my own damn name!
Adewale…or Ace…dipped away from my side and jetted to the helm with Edward. The men started gathering around the cannons, loading them, and filling their presence with loads and powder. Others stabled themselves above on the ropes, and on deck, gripping the boards. All had weapons noticeably ready while I had absolutely nothing. In fact, I was still standing in the same place I was standing in to be struck. Now I was the one who looked lost.
My eyes jetted to a now frantic Edward as he made his way down to the deck with all the rest of us. He passed the readied cannons, and the solders of the ship…coming closer to me in a sort of march. I wanted to get intimidated but I was waaaay too confused to care about his stance.
As soon as he got up to me, he gripped the arm Ace gripped, and hauled me across to the other side of the deck with quick feet. As soon as we got to the doors of his chambers, he pushed something in my hands quickly. After that, he looked at the white ship that was getting closer. Before I could speak, his lips were harshly as my ear, and his grip on my arm was even harder.
"In your hand is a blowpipe! Use it as best as you can before it runs out!" He began, quickening my heart as I tried to listen and not become distracted by the frantic men on board, "The ship approaching will soon have men sprawling on this deck with plans to kill! I need you to stay out of the danger as best as you can!"
I couldn't help in darting my eyes to him, but he forcefully put his mouth back to my ear in a sort of growl, "You only have six darts. When you run out, and a pirate approaches you, scream for me! Understand!?"
Soon wild cannon shots started firing off, scaring me from answering Edward. Everybody began shouting and screaming!
"UNDERSTAND!?" He shouted over another cannon shot.
"Yes!" I hissed, jumping from both shots as if it were the first time I had heard it.
I think..…..It was.
Edward ripped past me and sprinted for the helm, I stepped toward the closest cannon and saw the approaching ship closer than before. Too close. It was going to ram us, it seemed. I backed away toward the border when I got intimidated. From where it was, I could see the angry faces ready to pounce upon us. But who were they? Why did we have to attack this ship? I wish I could have answered that.
Before the ship would come in contact with ours, the loudest cannon shot I've heard thus far, bounced into the air. It was short enough for me to see Edward and Ace screaming toward me at the helm. I looked ahead of me, seeing what seemed liked hundreds of men, leaping off the enemy ship to ours…but that's all I saw.
Before I could even use the mysterious weapon in my hand…I hadn't even looked at it yet…I felt a bolting hit coming contact with the jackdaw. It was so powerful that I remembered whipping in the air, above the incoming pirates, and over the ship I was standing on.
As I flew in the air and kissed the board steps goodbye, I could see my fire red hair sprawling out ahead of me. The next thing I felt was the icy blue waters shrouding my eyes, burning them in salt.
I didn't remember being injured before landing in the water, but I did see blood red clouds ahead of me.
I couldn't breathe, I couldn't think. I guess my end wasn't going to be on a ship after all. I suppose this was better than dying up there…even though I didn't know my own name. I could die as no-one.
"GET DOWN! GET DOWN!"
I think that's what I heard from the screaming men around me…..
Now a muffled uproar of cries were swirling in the water as I got deeper and deeper. I wondered if they were shouting for me, and I wondered if Edward even cared.
