So originally I was going to write this as part of the story and then decided not to. And then I changed my mind and really wanted to write it so here it is! A brief scene to what happened after Jimmy and Cindy New Year's kiss.

It's turning out to be a pretty good year so far.

It's only been the New Year for a couple of hours, but it's already turning out to be one of the best. And that may or may not have something to do with being in Jimmy's company all night.

After our kiss, (which I know Libby will be interrogating me about in the morning) we've kind of been inseparable. I don't know what happened, but we haven't been able to keep our eyes, and occasionally hands, off each other. We were in our own little world that thankfully nobody butt their way into.

Sheen's party didn't have an end time but everyone started leaving at around one. I honestly didn't feel like leaving. As pathetically cheesy as it sounds, I was having a really good time with Jimmy and didn't want it to end.

After what felt like half an hour later, I let out a yawn that didn't go unnoticed by Jimmy despite my head being on his shoulders as we were dancing.

"Tired?" He asked as he pulled away from me.

"Nothing gets past you, does it?" He rolled his eyes playfully when I replied. "Yeah, a bit. I should be getting home anyway."

"Is Libby going to drive you home?"

"Well, actually," I started, remembering what Libby had said to me on the way over here. "Libby planned to spend the night and didn't tell me until we were here. So she's probably already upstairs with Sheen doing God knows what leaving me pretty much stranded here."

"So you need a ride?"

"Is this you offering?" Wow. Way to be bold, Vortex.

"Of course. Wouldn't want you be stranded someplace you didn't want to be...again. Even though you seemed to enjoy it the first time." He raised an eyebrow, leaving me speechless for a few seconds.

"Alright then," I spoke once I recovered. "Let me go get my coat from the garage. Wait here." The short journey from the living room to the garage was occupied by butterflies filling up in my stomach. Jesus, get it together Cindy. It's not like this is the first time you've ridden in a vehicle with only Neutron and yourself. But it is the first time doing so this late and after spending all night with him.

At some point, knowing that by locking the car, she would be leaving my coat in it, Libby hung it on a hook behind the garage door. Sure enough, it was hanging there and after checking the pockets to make sure my phone and keys were in there, I removed it from the hook and put it on.

Walking back into the living room, I found Neutron leaning against the staircase railing wearing a dark blue jacket with the zipper undone. He walked ahead and held the door open for me. We both exited the house leaving behind guests that had fallen asleep on Sheen's couches or were still drunkenly dancing, all of whom were sure to have a major hangover in the morning.

Jimmy had parked the hovercar in the front yard where despite being in plain view, everyone knew better than to touch it. He had added a lot of new features over the years including an alarm that sounded if you got too close and a nozzle that sprayed a foul smelling gas all over you if you still dared to come close enough to touch it.

As we approached it, he pressed a button on his keys and the hovercar made a sound identical to that of a car when it's unlocked. I stepped in first and he held my hand so that I wouldn't lose balance. He walked around to the other side, just as he would to a real car, and stepped in too.

We were driving (or hovering, if you prefer) for a couple of blocks before I spoke up.

"I don't think I ever told you, but I like what you've done to the hovercar."

"Yeah? What's your favorite part?"

I pondered it for a second or two, even though I already knew my answer. "The seatbelts." He chuckled, as if he wasn't surprised that the least impressive thing is what I liked the most. "What made you change your mind?"

"Well, after hearing your endless nagging about how you're going to contact your lawyer if and when you got injured because of a hovercar crash, I figured it probably would be a good idea."

"Hmmm, I see." I replied, internally thrilled that he did it because of me.

A few more minutes passed and since Neutron didn't seem like much of a conversationalist while driving, unlike the good old days, I asked a question I had been wanting an answer to for a while.

"So tell me, approximately how many girls have you had in here since you revamped it? Or at all rather?"

"Not many." This coming from the boy who probably thinks his IQ number is not much on the numerical scale. "Just my mom whenever she needs to go into town but my dad has the car. And you." He turned to look at me when he said that last part. Thankfully, the darkness of the night hid the red that was growing on my cheeks. We both turned back to face the road at the same time. I bit my lip and smiled while looking straight ahead.

I noticed that we were close to our neighborhood when Jimmy spoke up.

"So did you have fun?"

"It was okay." I teased while playing with a piece of hair that was losing its curl.

"Just okay?"

"Yeah. Spent some time with this guy from some of my classes. He's really good-looking and dresses nice but he's incredibly annoying. Always boring people to death with all his science talk. He's a genius, you see." I glanced over at him during that last sentence.

"Well, I'm sorry to hear that. But it sounds pretty similar to my night actually."

"Seriously? Pray tell."

"I was hanging out with this blonde girl from school. She kept going on and on about her upcoming karate and debate club competitions and how she was going to crush everyone and make them wish they never showed up. Something about an A+ she got on a project. She was very cocky, to be honest." He explained.

"Oh, really?" I snapped, his words ticking me off a bit.

"It wasn't all that bad though." He continued as if he hadn't heard me. "She's an excellent kisser."

My demeanor immediately softened.

"You think?"

"I know."

We were turning into our street now, and I only had seconds left with Jimmy. He parked on the street in front of my house and quickly got out and walked around the hovercar to help me climb out. I took his hand once more to assist me but released it as we walked to my front steps. Once we were on the last one, we turned and faced each other.

"Thank you for driving me home."

"You're welcome." He smiled and I returned it, feeling incredibly nervous for I don't know what reason. "Did you have fun tonight?"

"You already asked me that."

"Yeah, but you didn't give me the right answer." My eyes widened at his boldness.

"Yes, I did." I replied. I didn't want to make a comment on his daring words only for him to say something defensive in return.

I just wanted to kiss him again.

"Good." he nodded as he started to lean in.

"Good." I repeated and did the same.

Our mouths barely stayed closed long enough to fully prepare ourselves. Our kiss deepened instantly, our tongues already fighting for dominance, similar to how their owners constantly do. I heard a light thud behind me and realized he had pushed me up against my front door. I smiled into the kiss, loving how in control he was. One of his hands kept a tight grip on my hip while the other held my face, ensuring I wouldn't pull away. I gripped onto his hair, trying to get him as close as humanly possible while a moan was released from the back of my throat. This must have spurred him on more because then he kissed me with more passion than I knew was possible from him.

We remained like that until the lack of oxygen got the better of us. We both pulled away breathing heavily and feeling lightheaded.

"Umm, I- uhh I'll call you in the- the morning." He let out, trying to catch his breath. "If that's okay with you."

"Yeah." I agreed, my breathing heavy as well. "Yeah, I'd like that."

"Okay." He nodded. "Good night, Vortex." He gave me that smirk that made me want to kiss him back at midnight.

"Night, Neutron." I smirked back at him and hoped it was half as effective. He stared at me so intensely that those blue eyes were engraved in my memory. Before I could do or say anything else, he turned around and walked away. I turned to my door, keys in hand, and opened it quietly. Once it shut behind me, I leaned against it, and smiled as wide as I possibly could.

This has been stuck in my head since I posted the story so I decided to just go on ahead and write it. I really hope you guys liked it! Please leave a review and let me know what you think!
