Starfire kept her eyes down on her food while everyone conversed in front of her.
"So please, X has never brought home a girl before," Slade began. "I heard." Starfire replied in a lower voice.
"What did you do that made him bring you home?" He asked and X cleared his throat. "There was just something about her." X said and glanced at him.
"I threatened to break up with him if he didn't." She blurted out. Chloe choked on her food while Slade chuckled. "That too." X said. Starfire smiled at herself. "Ha, so Kori, how do you feel about all of our professions?" Chloe asked and Starfire stared at X.
"I um, it does not do the bothering of me." She said nervously. "Oh really?" Slade repeated. "How'd you feel about coming with me on a few heists? I could use a pretty face like yours around." Chloe said and Starfire stuffed her mouth with spaghetti so wouldn't have to respond.
"Come on now Chloez, we can't get her mixed in with our line of work." X said, ignoring Starfire.
"Of course not. I was just saying she could be like a distraction or something." Chloe said. Starfire swallowed. "Distraction?" She repeated. 'I might as well learn what they plan on doing.' She thought.
"Yeah, like distract a security guard while X and I rob the place." She explained and Starfire's eyes widened.
"That wouldn't be so bad." She lied. She really wanted this dinner to be over. "Great, I'll let X know next time we need that." Chloe said.
An hour later .
Everyone had retreated to the couch for TV. Starfire saw her chance to leave and took it.
"I do believe it is getting the late." She stated as she stood.
"What? It's only 10." X stated and Starfire glared at him.
"But I guess since you do have that photoshoot in the morning we should head out." He said as he too stood up.
"Well it was nice meeting you Kori." Chloe stated as she waved at them. Slade remained quiet as he stared at her. There was something familiar about her that he just couldn't put his finger on.
"Farewell!" Starfire stated as she followed X through the door. As soon as they exited the building Starfire tapped him on the shoulder. He turned around and quickly caught her hand before it reached his face.
"Don't be that way babe." He said as her eyes glowed green.
"I am the most foolish for agreeing to this dinner. Do not ever request such things of me ever again and I will obliterate you if you ever show up at my window again." She warned as she pulled her arm away and ascended into the sky. He grabbed her leg as she flew.
"Aw come on cutie, don't ya think that was a great first date?" He asked as she looked down at him and shot her eye beams at him. He fell off and into a tree.
"Damnit." He cursed as he fell head first from the tree. He got up just in time to see her disappear from sight. 'Just wait, you'll love our first date.'
Meanwhile .
Starfire carefully entered in the code into the Tower's security lock. She had ditched the contacts while she flew. The door slide open and she entered.
"Hey Star, where'd you go?" Beast Boy asked as he glanced behind him. He was sitting alone in the Ops room playing a video game. She let out sigh of relief.
"Did you just go on a date?" He asked noticing her attire.
"No Beast Boy, I um, went for a walk." She replied as she took the heels off and walked towards the elevator. "Dressed like that?" He asked and she nodded.
"Sleep well." She stated as she entered the elevator. She sighed. She had never thought she would ever do something like that in her whole life. 'It was just the one time thing.' She thought as the doors opened and she rolled her eyes.
"Where've you been?" The person questioned and Starfire ignored him. "I'm not asking as a friend, I'm asking you as your leader." He stated and she still ignored him.
"So in other words I'm telling you to tell me where you've been." He said.
"Out." She replied.
"Out where? Out dressed like that? You didn't go on a date did you?" He questioned.
"And if I did?" She asked glaring at him.
"I'd tell you to call it off. You're a superhero and don't have to time to be dating civilians." He replied. "What if he's not a civilian." She shot back, not really understanding why she was acting this way.
"You went out with Speedy!?" He exclaimed and she giggled at his anger. "I believe the saying is 'I do not partake in the kissing and telling'." She stated as the elevator opened and she stepped out.
"Kissing? You aren't serious are you?" He said as he followed her. "We've only been broken up for like what, a day."
She rolled her eyes and she punched in the code for her room.
"There are more fish in the sea." She stated as she stepped in and closed the door. She grinned at herself.
"I know not what has come over me but I know that it fits me well." Starfire stated as she quickly changed into her pajamas and floated into bed. On the other side of the door, the birdbrain was losing it.
'Speedy? She's lost it. She's probably just trying to make me jealous. But for what for? Maybe she's trying to get back at me for the whole Raven thing. Yeah that's got to be it. Well I'll just have to show her that I can play the game too.' Robin thought to himself as he entered his own room.
"Two can play at this game." He stated as he also threw on some pajamas and climbed into bed.
5 AM
Starfire eyes shot open as banging on her ensued. She stomped over and the door slid open.
"Early training sunshine." Robin stated and she glared. "If only looks could kill, you're due in the training room in twenty minutes." He said as he turned and left. She rolled her eyes.
"If only looks could kill." She mocked as she entered her bathroom. Twenty two minutes passed and Starfire left her room dressed in her uniform. She nonchalantly entered the training room and flipped her hair over her shoulder seeing that Robin wasn't in there. The breath was immediately knocked out of her as someone kicked her in her side. She looked up to see Robin standing over her.
"You're late." He stated as he walked towards the weights. She stood up and threw on a fake smile.
"What great training session have you planned for us today?" She asked as he took his shirt off.
"I think we need to relieve some tension between us so how about a sparring match?" He said as he noticed her staring at his arm muscles. "My eyes are up here."
"Ah ha, sparring shall be excellent." She stated as she got in a fighting stance. Before he could reply, she threw a star bolt at him. He jumped out the way.
"Hey, no—" He was cut off by her throwing several more. He darted out the way and threw a birdarang at her. She destroyed it with her eye beams and they both grinned.
Ten minutes later .
They both laid out of breath, one on top of the other. Masked eyes staring into bright green ones. The room was a mess from their fight. One mouth moving so slowing to the one centimeters away. The moment was ended by strong arms pushing him away.
"We cannot." Starfire stated as she sat up.
"Why?" He asked. She chuckled. "You really do not understand." She murmured and he stood up.
"You can finish by yourself." He said as he left. Starfire stood and began to straighten up the mess they made.
"Feels as though it is I who is always left with the cleaning up of our messes." She mumbled.
