This one is based off of what Kimiko Heroux said about another character's (from a different fandom) reaction to a certain thing. This takes place after the series is over.

Navin sat at the table, watching Trellis pace back and forth. "She's okay, Trellis. Mom isn't that worried."

He didn't stop walking. "I knew elves that felt the same way Emily does and they died unexpectedly."

Navin stared. "They even had food cravings?"

"Not much is known about it. The disease has no cure."

Navin looked away, mumbling. "Human and elven sickness must be different because there is a 'cure'…." He glanced at Trellis, who stopped and looked interested. He forgot elves had better hearing than humans….

"What is it?"

He shouldn't have said anything…. "Well…" he breathed a sigh of relief as Emily and their mother, Karen, walked into the room, smiling and looking really happy.

Trellis greeted Emily with a hug. "Are you feeling all right?"

Emily nodded. "The doctor said I'm fine."

Trellis led her to the table and pulled out a chair for her. "Do you need anything?"

She sat down. "I'm fine," she repeated, setting the folded paper bag she'd been carrying on the table. "We did some shopping. That's why we're late. You weren't worried, were you?"

Trellis shook his head and went to pull out a chair for Karen, quietly apologizing.

Navin stared. "Liar. You annoyed Lugar so much he banned you from the kitchen and asked me to watch you until Emily got back."

At the mention of the kitchen Emily sat up straighter.

"I'll ask him what he's making," Trellis gave her a quick, light kiss and left.

"Was he that bad?" Emily asked.

Navin nodded. "He thought you had a disease and you're going to die."

"He doesn't have to worry about that," Karen said. She pushed the bag towards Navin. "We got that for you."

Navin pulled out a light blue sweater, looking slightly confused.

"That's what took so long," Emily said, "I asked them to customize it."

Navin turned the sweater around, staring at the words "Mommy's Favorite Brother". He set it down. "You're…?" He had only guessed earlier… Thankfully Emily had come back before that awkward conversation started….

Emily nodded. "Three months."

"When are you due?"

She smiled. "Six months exactly."

"So the anniversary of when the Elf King was defeated and when you and Trellis got married?"

"Give or take a day or two."

"Did you tell anyone else yet?"

"Not until Trellis knows."

Navin nodded, understanding. "He wouldn't like it very much if everyone knew but him." He held up the sweater. "So I can't wear this until then?"

"We don't need to confuse him," Karen said.

Emily looked between her mother and brother. "How should I tell Trellis I'm pregnant?"

There was a thud just outside the door.

"I think he knows now," Navin said.

Emily looked back, concerned. "How am I going to tell him it's twins?"
