Soul Eater
Maka x Soul
Fresh Starts: Chapter 2
Soul looked as if he was just stabbed in the chest. Maka held her arms to herself, but to no avail. The cuts were laced around her arms. Soul dropped the jacket and looked strait at her face. She had stared to cry, and tears were already dripping. He closed up the space between them with a hug. He held her, stroking her hair as she cried on his shoulder.
She hugged him back the best she could, considering how her arms were trapped between them, the cloth of their shirts snagged on scabs.
He loosened the hug a bit and whispered in her ear, "Do you want to die?"
The question lingered in the air for a minute, and Maka couldn't say yes and be honest. But no wouldn't be true either.
"I don't know."
Maka held onto Soul tightly as they speeded down the road. He randomly decided to bring her to the park while they were hugging earlier, so he lifted her off of her feet and brought her to the front office of the school. He talked with the principal, and when he said for Soul to go back to class and he would call her father, she immediately stepped in and said that she was going to stay with Soul.
Soul stopped the motorcycle and started to get off, but Maka wouldn't let go. He sat back down an loosened her arms carefully. He turned around and looked her in the eyes.
"What else is there?" He asked.
"What?"
"What else have you done to yourself that I should know about?"
"Well, there's pills, and plastic bags, and the-"
"And the..."
"..the red candle."
He looked at her, confused. "Red candle?" He inquired.
She explained to him about the red candle and what it symbolized to her. He thought about it, and then asked, "What do you think souls look like, anyway?"
She looked over at him and said, "Well, I always thought of them as little balls of light that looked kinda like you."
He looked at her and decided to joke around now that she seemed to feel a bit better.
"What if I was your Soul? I mean, I am Soul, after all," he said with a toothy grin.
She looked back at him and just kinda stared for a little bit. A small smile rose to her lips as she leaned in to hug him.
"I'd like that."
They had been there for a while, just playing around with flowers and a couple times, babies in strollers. One time, a mother said they they would be great parents. Soul looked at Maka and saw that she was blushing quite a bit, until realizing that his face felt pretty hot as well.
