Chapter 3: Future Dates and Complications
Garnet was running out of time. For the past couple of days, he has been working hard to make sure that his mom and dad go out on the scheduled date. He has attempted many things in order to achieve his goal.
He tried the direct approach.
"Hey dad! Go out on a date with mom"
"… No"
He tried the indirect approach.
"Hey dad, wouldn't it be great if you somehow went on a date with mom?"
"Huh? Did you say something?"
He tried bribing.
"Mom, I will give you this whole plate of cookies if you go on a date with dad"
"W-Wha-… S-Stop! Mom! Those cookies are for bribing! D-Don't eat all the cookies!"
He even tried reverse psychology.
"Mom! Do you not not want to not go on a not date with dad? Not."
"H-Huh?!"
Nothing was working for him.
Here he was with only one day left before the scheduled date and he is no closer to achieving his goal. He is currently in the cafeteria along with his mom and dad and their collective friends enjoying a lovely dinner together. He was too deep in his own thoughts that he almost missed what his Auntie Yang was saying.
"So there's this awesome new action movie that's showing tomorrow. I say we all get together and have some fun." She said with a beaming smile. Looking at each and every one of her friends.
Ruby beams at her sister's plan and nods eagerly. "Sounds like fun! I'm in!"
Yang gives her sister a thumbs up and Ruby happily returns the gesture.
Weiss just shakes her head at the antics of the two sisters. "I plan to finish the assignment Professor Oobleck gave us."
"But we have the whole weekend to do the assignment. Can't you put it off and have fun for a change." Yang whined at the heiress.
"Yes, but unlike certain people," she gave Yang a glare. "I don't plan on doing the assignment at the very last moment. I'd like to have my work finished at the earliest time."
"I'll also be working on the assignment," Pyrrha says smiling apologetically over at Yang "so I'll be passing as well"
Yang lets out a sigh and shakes her head before turning to her fellow blonde. "Vomit Boy?"
"Sounds like fun. I always enjoy watching the latest action movie. I'm in" he nods at Yang.
"Excellent!" She says as she turns to Ren and Nora.
"Me and Renny are free so we will be going as well!" Nora beams answering for both her and her best friend.
Yang nods and finally turns to her partner "So, what about you Blakey?"
Blake looks up from the book she is currently reading and shakes her head at Yang. "I just got this new book and I plan on reading it tomorrow."
"But Blakey!" Yang pouts at her partner.
"Maybe some other time Yang" Blake says before turning her focus back on her book.
At this point, Garnet was freaking out. Not only was his mom and dad not going on a date but they have plans on having fun with their friends which is as far from what a date actually is. He slammed his head on the table out of despair causing the people around him to look at him.
"What's wrong with your son Vomit Boy?" Yang asks her fellow blonde.
"I don't know, he's been busy trying to get me and Ruby to go out on a date for the past couple of days though" He says slightly worried at the state of his own son.
It was at this point the Garnet had a small revelation. What was the difference between a date and an outing with friends. A date happens when two people share a romantic time with each other while an outing with friends was having a fun time together.
An idea started to form in his head. If he managed to somehow stop his mom and dad's friends from attending the outing then that would mean that his mom and dad will have nothing to do but spend some time with each other meaning having a date together. He smiles at this and nods as plans started forming in his mind of how he will achieve this.
'Yes this will work. It has to work'
The next day comes and it is filled with preparations. Garnet is busy with making plans to ensure that everything goes as smoothly as possible for his very life depends on the outcome of this day. He made sure that he has everything prepared and ready for his plan.
It is almost time for his mother and father's friend to go out to the movie. He is currently stalking his target waiting for the opportune moment for him to spring his trap.
He is watching his Auntie Nora walking alongside her best friend Uncle Ren waiting for them to separate. For his plan to succeed, he has to make contact with the bubbly bomber without her silent friend which does not happen often. He was about to give up as it seems that the two friends refuse to split up when the perfect opportunity suddenly arises.
He watches as his Auntie Nora makes an excuse to her best friend before skipping away from him. Not wasting this golden opportunity, Garnet suddenly chases after her and calls out to her.
"Auntie Nora!" He calls out to her causing the bubbly bomber to turn and look at him.
"Garnet!" she screams and grabs him and pulls him closer into a constricting hug. "How's my favorite Nephew!"
Garnet just laughs at how affectionate his aunt can be and does his best to pull away from the bone crushing hug that he is receiving.
"I'm doing fine Auntie Nora," He says as he smiles at her. "I just called out to you because I wanted to show you something."
"Hmm? And what could that be?" She says excitedly as she wonders just what he will show her.
He just smirks and pulls out his Dimensional Pouch. "Activating Dimensional Pouch, what I want is…"
-With Ren-
Ren was a patient guy. He had to be considering that his best friend could be a little troublesome with her antics. Being friends with someone like Nora can be quite exhausting and if you don't have the same amount of patience as him, it would be easy to be worn out whenever she gets a little excitable. That is why he thinks that he has been able to be good friends with Nora for such a long time.
Being friends with her for such a long time has also given him a sense whenever she was about to go out of control and that has helped him reign her in so that she doesn't cause too much trouble. He didn't think much of it when she said that she wanted to go and grab something to eat at the cafeteria before they head out to the movies thinking that she wouldn't cause too much trouble on her way there.
The way that his senses suddenly started working overdrive told him that something was horribly wrong.
He quickly dropped what he was doing and started heading the way that he last saw his bubbly friend in the hopes of stopping whatever trouble his friend might cause.
He just hoped that he wasn't too late.
-With Garnet-
Garnet quickly ran away from the monster that he has suddenly unleashed not believing how effective his plan was. He looks back when he hears the ominous sound of his Auntie's laugh echoing through the halls and hopes that the damage that his Aunt does isn't too destructive.
He shakes his head and focuses back at the task at hand. With his Auntie Nora in the state that she is in, it wouldn't be long before his Uncle Ren comes and tries to stop her. With the two of them too busy to go out to the movies that only leaves one last person that he needs to distract in order for his plan to succeed.
He stops when he spots his target leaving her dorm room and started heading towards the exit. He stops and takes a deep breath to calm himself down for what he is about to do. He observes his Auntie Yang as she continues walking humming a tune to herself and dreads at what he has to do.
He currently has no item that will distract his Aunt from going to the movies but he knows about the one thing that he can do to distract her should he need to do it. He does not want to do this and he would only do this should he be absolutely desperate for a distraction.
'Do this for mom and dad Garnet. Just remember, do this for mom and dad.'
With that thought in mind he rushes over to his Aunt and quickly bumps into her. He makes sure that he grabs what he needs and quickly stops in front of her.
"Whoa there Garnet. You better be careful not to bump into people like that." His Auntie Yang says with a bright smile at his face. "You never know what might… happen…"
He watches as the bright smile on his Aunt's face slowly turns into shock at what he is holding. He swallows as he slowly lifts his hand up showing that in his close palm he is holding a few locks of her golden hair. Knowing what is coming next he quickly dashes away from his Aunt as her eyes turn from her usual lilacs into the fiery red eyes whenever her semblance is activated.
'I am so dead! Mom! Dad! You owe me one!'
He thought as he ran away from the monster that is known as his Aunt Yang.
"You little brat!" He hears his Aunt scream out as she starts chasing after him.
He just hopes that she doesn't break too much of his bones.
-With Jaune-
Standing outside the movie house in the city of vale is the two friends Jaune and Ruby. They are looking around to see if any of their other friends will show up.
"They're late and it's almost time for the movie to start" Jaune says as he checks the time again wondering what could be keeping his friends.
"Yeah, Yang's not answering her scroll as well." Ruby says as she puts away her scroll after another failed attempt at calling her sister.
A couple of minutes pass and still no sign of their friends and still no answers from their calls.
"Well, it looks like they aren't showing up," Ruby says with a sigh then turns to smile at Jaune "You want to head on in just the two of us?"
Jaune quickly returns the smile "Sure, what's the point of coming here if we don't see the movie anyway." He says with a nod "Besides with just the two of us this is almost like a… l-like… like a…" He stops himself and blushes in embarrassment.
"Like a date?" Ruby says as she tilts her head.
"N-Not like that!" Jaune says as he waves his arms in front of Ruby "What I mean to say is that we go and spend some time together. Just you and me. A boy and a girl. Hanging out together that may or may not involve any romantic situations."
"Jaune" Ruby says as she starts giggling.
"Yeah?"
"That sounds like a date to me."
"Yeah, I guess it does" He says as he lets out a small giggle as well.
Ruby just shakes her head and grabs Jaune's hand quickly dragging him inside the movie house. "Come on, I want to get good seats."
-With Garnet-
Garnet limps forward after escaping from his enraged Aunt. He sighs as he is glad that he only received a couple of bruises from his encounter with his Aunt.
"Note to self: Never touch Auntie Yang's hair ever again" He mumbles to himself as he continues to limp back towards his room to get his much needed rest.
He looks up curiously as he spots a couple of students running towards him screaming and wondering what the problem may be.
"R-Run away!"
"Somebody stop her!"
"I-I don't want to die!"
He catches a few of their scared screams as they run past him. He looks at what they could possibly be running from and a sudden chill suddenly comes over him. The feeling of dread slowly builds inside of him as an ominous sound is heard from the direction the students are running away from. The sound slowly grows larger as whatever it is was slowly making its way towards him.
The sound suddenly stops and the feeling of dread passes and he finally lets out a breath that he didn't realize that he was holding in. At that moment the wall to his side suddenly explodes causing him to jump and try to avoid getting hit by any debris. He looks at the new hole in the wall to see what may cause it and the silhouette of the creature could be seen just past it causing him to take a step back away from what he sees.
"I seeeeee youuuuu." The singsong voice of his Auntie Nora is heard as she steps through the hole she made. She lifts up her trusty Warhammer, Magnhild, and places it over her shoulders as she smiles brightly at the terrified boy.
"Come here and give Auntie Nora a hug" The mad bomber says as she takes a step closer to him causing the boy to do the only logical thing that came to his mind.
He ran as fast as his legs could carry him away from the monster that is his Auntie Nora.
-With Jaune-
Jaune and Ruby were laughing together as they recall a funny moment from the movie that they watched. The two enjoyed their time together and they were both heading back to Beacon to rest.
"This was a great night Jaune. I really had a lot of fun with you" Ruby says as she smiles up to her blonde friend
"Yeah I had a lot of fun with you too." He says as he nods and smile at her.
"If you want," Ruby starts with a small blush on her face as she looks away from him. "We could do this again sometime."
He stops as he stares at her. "You mean, like hanging out together?"
She nods and slowly turns to face him "Yeah, just like earlier with only the two of us."
"You mean, like a date?" He asks with a small smirk on his face.
"Yeah, like a date"
He takes a moment to think before nodding and smiling at Ruby "Yeah, I'd like that actually."
Ruby beams at her friend's answer and they both resume their walk back to their school.
Garnet was walking through the hallways of Beacon with a bright smile on his face. Even with all the painful and scary things that occurred yesterday his whole plan was a huge success. He takes out his scroll and looks at the long list of his mission and smiles at the big check that marks the very first task that he was supposed to do. If he could manage to succeed on the first task then he can somehow make sure that the other tasks are fulfilled as well.
He continues his stroll through Beacon still happy at what he has accomplished when he suddenly spots a person among the crowd of Beacon.
Said person was a girl with bright blond hair, wearing an elegant yellow and white dress with matching yellow boots with heels. Only one word could describe the person that he was currently watching.
Beautiful.
He blushes as he watches her gracefully move through the crowd of students. 'Is this what dad meant when he talked about love at first sight' He thought as he continues to watch the angel move through the crowded halls of beacon.
Suddenly her bright and beautiful blue irises meet up with his own and he could almost feel his heart skip a beat. He sees her start to make his way towards him and he starts to panic.
'Oh no, she's coming this way! Come on relax remember what dad said. You have got to act natural and no matter what you do you have to ACT NATURAL!'
He fumbles around trying to think of the most natural pose that he could think of and when he sees that the girl is almost upon him he jumps and does the first pose that crosses his mind.
The girl stops in front of him and sees the boy awkwardly standing with one foot raised on the window sill and one of his arms on top of his knee. He moves his head to look at her and gives her one of the most charming smiles that he could muster before moving his hand to flip some of his hair on top of his head.
'Remember what dad said. Confidence is key!'
"Hey there beautiful" He says as he winks at her.
'Perfect!'
The girl seems unfazed by all this and just asks a question.
"Are you Garnet Arc?"
He nods at her and sends her another wink "For you lady, I will be anything you want."
The girl just ignores him and motions for him to follow her.
"Follow me."
He watches as she starts to move away from him and quickly moves to do as she says. He continues to watch her beautiful figure from behind as he follows her not sure where they were going. He sees her walk inside a room and he quickly follows after her noticing that it was an empty training hall.
'I wonder why she would bring me here… unless…' He lets out a gasp 'My seduction techniques were too good and now she wants to seal the deal'
The girl walks to the middle of the room not noticing the turmoil inside the young boy's mind.
"Garnet Arc!" She yells as she turns to face him "Prepare yourself!"
"I'm not ready for this kind of relationship!" he screams as he waves his arms in front of him.
The girl ignores his outburst and pulls out a familiar pouch from her pocket. "Activating Dimensional Pouch!" She starts chanting.
The boy stares at the pouch in surprise before reaching for his own wondering if he somehow dropped his own dimensional pouch. He pulls it out from his pocket and lets out a sigh of relief.
'Wait if she has a Dimensional Pouch does that mean that she's from the future as well' He thought to himself as he watches her curiously.
"What I want is" She glares at him as she continues to chant.
Cursing to himself and sensing that she wants to fight he starts to prepare for battle as well. "Activating Dimensional Pouch, what I want is"
"Crocea Mors!" They both shout at the same time as two swords suddenly materializes from both of their pouches.
"E-Eh!" He shouts as he grabs his sword. "H-How could you have that! That's my sword!"
The girl just ignores him and quickly unsheathes her own blade and before he could ask anything else, she suddenly glides through the hall with her sword raised ready to strike him.
He quickly unsheathes his own sword and transforms the sheath into a shield. He manages to block the initial strike the girl sent his way with his shield and he quickly moves to swipe the sword towards the girl.
The girl quickly twirls away from the swipe and lands a few feet away from the boy.
The boy prepares himself as he places his shield in front of him and readies his sword to strike
"Who are you?!" He screams at his opponent.
The girl just relaxes her stance and glares at the boy
"My name is Blanc Arc" She says as she raises her own sword "And I will not have you interfere with my mission to get Weiss, my mother, together with Jaune any longer."
The boy just says the first thing that came to his mind.
"E-Eh?!"
Greetings everyone and Celes here with another chapter. I would like to thank everyone who answered the question I had earlier as it has enlightened me to the meaning of the Lancaster pairing. I am glad that people are liking my story as I was afraid that being a new writer would mean that no one would like my story. I do hope that you enjoy this chapter as I had a fun time creating it. Again any form of suggestions or feedback you have for this story will be greatly appreciated.
Can anyone guess what our silly Garnet gave Nora to distract her?
Until next time.
