The next morning was relatively uneventful. Robin and Lucina ate breakfast in the mess hall observing their fellow competitors. Lucina and Marth took turns staring at eachother while the other looked away. Just like yesterday.
The booming voice made the announcement to go to the Staging Areas. Robin and Lucina gripped each other's hands and followed the other competitors. Then it struck Robin that he accepted a challenge from Rosalina after being walked in on yesterday.
He was still so embarrassed that he didn't really even want to see her. But he knew that he had no way out of it, and it was best to get it out of the way.
"Ah, there you are." Rosalina said with her melodic voice.
She waved towards the couple, with as much calm and grace as usual.
"I hope you haven't forgotten my challenge." said Rosalina
"It was kind of hard to forget." replied Robin
Robin turned to Lucina "Well I'm off."
Lucina smiled "Just don't make yourself look bad."
Lucina leaned in for a quick kiss, then spun Robin around and shoved him towards the staging area.
"Allow me to choose the stage." Rosalina said as she glided towards a portal with rounded stage on the other side.
Robin followed Rosalina into the portal and nearly lost his balance once he was on the other side. The gravity in this place felt weaker.
Robin took in his surroundings. The stage was spherical in appearance and was covered in green grass divided by a dirt road. When he looked towards the sky he saw all kinds of bizarre things. He saw other massive spherical objects much like the one he was standing on, a naval ship that could fly and other things Robin didn't feel like trying to comprehend.
Despite all of this, Rosalina seemed perfectly comfortable, if not familiar with this area.
The two competitors walked towards their respective positions waiting for the voice to begin their match.
"THREE"
"TWO"
"ONE"
"GO!"
Quick as lightning Rosalina pulled out a wand with a star shape on the end and summoned a Luma into existence.
Robin pulled out his Thoron tome and his Levin Sword and began casting Thoron but before he could finish the incantation, Rosalina's Luma came at him like a cannonball, launching him into the air.
Robin got up as fast as he could but Rosalina was already gliding at a fast speed towards him. Robin gripped his Levin Sword and swung it at her but Rosalina dodged by levitating into the air and a swirling shape made of stars came out from under her dress and hit Robin launching him backwards.
Rosalina began falling to the ground clearly trying to hit Robin from above, so Robin swerved out of the way then swung his Levin Sword when Rosalian landed and launched Rosalina in the opposite direction.
Rosalina landed on her back then was helped up by her Luma.
"That Luma is an issue." Robin thought to himself.
Robin grabbed his Arcthunder tome from under his coat and began the incantation. Rosalina's Luma attempted the same maneuver as it did when he was casting Thoron. But Arcthunder took a shorter time to cast and right before the Luma made contact with him, Robin shot a ball of lighting at the Luma causing the ball to explode in an X-like shape. The Luma was sent flying off the stage and exploded, turning into a petrified trophy.
Rosalina's calm facial expression did not change, yet looking into her starry eyes Robin could tell she was furious. She glided towards Robin at a breakneck speed and once in range she shot two swirled shapes at him again. Robin tried to move out of the way, but was too slow and got launched once again.
Rosalina tried to follow up with another attack, but Robin pulled out his Arcfire tome and stunned her with a pillar of flame.
Whilst Rosalina tried to escape the flames Robin swung his Levin Sword with all of his strength and launched Rosalina off of the stage.
"GAME!" the loud voice boomed.
Robin walked up to the petrified Rosalina and tapped the bronze stand as he saw Link do with Lucina. Rosalina glowed brightly and returned to flesh.
Calm as ever Rosalina simply bowed her head.
"You have bested me and my Luma. Congratulations." she said with her melodic voice.
She glided towards the statue of her Luma and tapped the base bringing the Luma back.
"Mama!" the Luma exclaimed hopping into Rosalina's arms.
"They can speak, even without mouths?" Robin thought to himself.
"Let us return to the Staging Areas." said Rosalina.
Robin simply nodded and followed her through the portal back.
Upon emerging from the portal he spotted Lucina having a conversation with a masked creature that resembled the pink alien from yesterday.
Lucina turned her head and saw Robin and briskly up to him smiling, then wrapped her arms around him. She then stepped back and grabbed Robin's hands.
"So how did your match go?" asked Lucina.
"Great! I won!" said Robin.
Suddenly Lucina's smile faded. Robin assumed that meant her match wasn't as successful.
"So um, how was your match?" Robin asked cautiously.
"I had a rematch with the green clad utility belt." grumbled Lucina.
"And?" Robin asked.
"I lost. Again." grumbled Lucina.
At this point Lucina was pouting like a small child. Robin didn't blame her, she was humiliated twice by that green warrior.
Robin gave her a reassuring peck on the cheek.
"Come on, lets go to the mess hall and get something to eat. It might make you feel better." said Robin as they left the staging area.
Author's Note:
There. A new chapter. Are you all f*cking happy now?
Anyway this is much easier to write now that the actual game has been released and I have a greater understanding of each character's movesets.
Its kind of aggravating having to write from Robin's perspective because the Fire Emblem games take place in a very primitive medieval setting. So I have to keep in mind that Robin doesn't know about galaxies, planets, electronics, etc.
