I've given you what you wanted. Aren't you satisfied?
On the edge of town, near the ocean, a science lab was aflame with activity. Even if the boy responsible for this should have been in bed by now, that didn't stop him.
A loud, wheezing laugh cut through the vicinity. At last, after nights working on it, the first stage invention was finished! The invention in question was a special scanner that could render any special attacks from his enemies useless. It was in beta stage, so it wasn't perfect, but the boy was glad he managed to make much needed progress on it.
Attaching the scanner to his robotic arm, a sincere, excited smile spread across the young boy's face. Just wait until his dad saw this! He was sure that he was going to love it.
"Just another nefarious creation by me, Dr. Chipotle Jr.!"
He started laughing again, his raspy voice filling the broad lab.
Dr. Chipotle Jr., despite being 10, was incredibly smart for his age. He had used his brains for diabolical purposes, and had no plans to stop. He couldn't explain why he enjoyed being evil; it was just a part of him.
Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted the door opening. Spinning around quickly, he was glad to see that his dad was back home from robbing the Miracle City bank.
"Dad! You're back!" Chipotle Jr. ran up in front of him, bubbling with anticipation.
"Yes, I am back. Despite Dr. Chipotle Sr. wanting you to come with me, you insisted on staying home."
"I had a reason. You see, I was working on a surprise for you!"
Chipotle Sr. raised an eyebrow. "Is that so?"
The ten year-old nodded. "It's right here!"
Lifting up his arm, he revealed the scanner to his father. The older scientist didn't react.
"How is this helpful, son?"
Chipotle Jr. gulped. "Well, it's supposed to scan the abilities of anyone, and make them useless against the person who used it on them. It still has some shortcomings, like not being a permanent disabler, but with a little work, I'm sure it'll-"
"How long have you been working on this?" His father interrupted.
"Um, a few weeks, I think."
"Surely in those few weeks, you'd be able to fix those issues, right? Instead of spending some quality crime time with your own father, you were working on this?"
The young boy simply blinked. "Um..."
"Save your breath. Dr Chipotle Sr. will improve your device, and he will do it the right way." Walking over to his son, he grabbed the scanner and tore it away from his arm, leaving him behind as he walked to another room.
Chipotle Jr. sighed. He was used to responses like this.
Unless he did something completely perfect, his dad always found a way to turn any kind of minor victory of his into a failure. It didn't matter what it was. Dr. Chipotle Sr. would find a way to make him feel like what he was doing was never good enough for him.
Deciding that complaining about it wouldn't do any good, Chipotle Jr. went outside to cool down, his guacamole monster following behind him.
As he sat outside by the pier, Dr. Chipotle Jr. was being comforted by his guacamole monster, who was patting him on the shoulder and running a finger through his messy hair. The boy didn't even care that guacamole was getting in his hair.
"I just don't understand what I'm doing wrong," he mumbled. "Dad doesn't care about anything I do, unless I do everything the way he wants it to be."
Ever since he was created in a lab, Dr. Chipotle Jr. had felt a desire for a family. His longing lead for him to clone himself to create his father and grandfather. His grandfather was confused over half the time, and his father was... not a very nice man. Sure, he was a villain, and that was to be expected. But that was a problem when he didn't even seem to care about his own son.
Chipotle Jr. felt tears well up in his eyes. Cursing quietly to himself, he wiped them away. There was no time to show weakness. He was going to show his dad that he was stronger than anyone else.
"If my father doesn't think I'm a serious villain, I'll prove it! Or my name isn't Dr. Chipotle Jr.! But first, I'm going to need some help."
Outstretching his robot arm, he reached for a streetlight. Letting his body fling forward, he released his grip on it and grabbed onto another. This process continued, until he saw his destination close by.
A barn on a hill, his best friend Sergio's house.
Grinning, he let go of the streetlight and ran towards the barn, as fast as his little legs could carry him. When he finally reached the doors of the barn, he decided it would be a good idea to change his appearance to a more casual look.
Smoothing his hair back, his robot arm sucked up his lab coat, revealing a green-sleeved shirt with a chili pepper on the front. His robot arm retracted into his arm socket, and out popped a regular human arm. His metallic eye transformed into glasses, and placed themselves onto his face.
Dr. Chipotle Jr. was now Diego, his civilian identity.
Now all he had to do was hope his friend was still up. Extending his arm forward, he held his breath and knocked on the door.
