Chapter 3: Just A Random Day

A/N In previous chapter I Said that Chihaya is in C class but I am making some changes and now instead of C class she is in D class. Enjoy

It's been a month since Chihaya started her middle school. After few days only she and Tsubasa, her neighbor became best friends. They usually went to school together and sometime Tsubasa's twin brother Shintaro used to join but it was a rear event. Chihaya was surprised when Tsubasa told her that she and her brother made it to 1st string with some other first years on their first go. As far as she knew basketball club of Teiko was famous and had over 100 members, and both of them made to 1st string which is strongest in one go which was really amazing.

I should also try hard to get into next class. Chihaya thought.

For couple of weeks Chihaya tried to form Karuta club, but nobody showed any interest. Because of which she joined Track team but continued to practice at Shiranami society.

One day after Karuta practice….

"So you joined Track Team Chihaya-chan. It is not a bad choice. But why track?Harada-Sensei asked Chihaya curiously.

"It will help me building my stamina, just for that I joined track. But I really wanted to play Karuta at school with friends and take part in nationals." Chihaya replied sadly.

"Don't worry you will find someone who shares same interest as you chi-chan." Harada-sensei said.

"Tadaima!"

"Okayiri Chihaya-chan. Today's practice took long." Chihaya's aunt said as she was preparing dinner.

"Hai,next week is tournament for D class players and if I win Harada-Sensei said I will get promoted in next class. So I did some extra practice." Chihaya replied. She was exhausted. As she was going to throw herself on bed to take a quick nap her aunt called out for her.

"Give this to Tsuba-chan." Her aunt said while handing Chihaya a big Tupperware.

Chihaya was puzzled so her aunt explained "Tsubasa-chan's parents are gone for some work in Kyoto they will be back tomorrow so here's some snack for the twins or else they will just eat instant noodles. Now hurry up and go."

Chihaya took the Tupperware and went to her friend's house. It was hardly 2 minutes walk. After ringing the doorbell she waited Hmmm the footsteps are not of Tsuba-chan's I wonder if she is home or not. She thought .

Chihaya's hearing was always very good because of which she was able to play karuta apart from her passion for the game. The door opened as she thought it was not tsuba-chan. Shintaro opened the door.

"Um, Tsubasa in not home at the moment, do you need anything Kagami-san." Shintaro asked less bluntly than usual which surprised Chihaya.

"I just wanted to give this,my aunt sent this for both of you for dinner."Chihaya said still standing at the door step.

Shintaro took the Tupperware from the girl. Not sure what to do now he invited Chihaya inside.

"Come in, Tsubasa will be home any minute. She just went to the convinence store." Shintaro said uncertainly.

"Ok. Sorry for intrusion!"Chihaya accepted his invitation rather quickly. As she sat in hall Shintaro went in kitchen to keep the Tupperware in microwave.

"Do you want anything Kagami-san. " Shintaro asked formally.

" I am fine. Thank you."

It was very awkward silence. Usually at the times like this Tsubasa used to break the ice. This was first time they were alone. To break the silence Chihaya switched on the television. As she was changing the channels, Shintaro was in deep thought. Does she remember that night when we first met? Should he ask her about that time. After a long thought he asked nothing.

"Tsuba-chan told me that you both moved to first string in first try. It is really amazing." Surprisingly Chihaya started the conversation.

"Yes, That's right. It's only natural when you work hard you will get rewarded equally. How is your Karuta practice going on?"

" We are having extra practice at Shiranami society, for next week's tournament. And if I win I will be one step close being queen." Chihaya replied.

Why she want to become queen this badly. Shintaro thought. He was just going to ask her, Chihaya suddenly stood up.

"Tsuba-chan is back" Chihaya said and rushed to open the door.

" Wait! What?" The door bell didn't rang. How does she know Tsubasa or for the matter anyone is here. Shintaro stood confused in the hall.

"Oh! Chi-chan what are you doing here, did I kept you waiting?"

Shintaro heard his sister's voice talking with the other girl. Amazing! He thought.

"Shin-chan, you should have called me and told that chi-chan is here. I had come sooner"

"It was unnecessary"

"Tsuba-Chan! I Look at the time, I should be get going or else I will be late for dinner. Don't forget to eat that curry or else aunty will be mad at you. Bye." Chiahaya said all in one breath and went rushing to her home.

"Wait, What-?" Still confused Tsubasa looked at her brother.

"Kagami-san was here to deliver curry sent by Ayase-san for us. So,did you get for what you went at this hour?"

"Ah, yes. Anyway lets eat dinner. BTW Shin-Chan, you were alone with Chi-chan. Did you finally confessed her?"

"I told you already, I have nothing that sort of felling for her. Why are you wasting your energy on this useless topic."

The rest of the night was uneventful.
