Chapter Four: Ordinary Human
"So you're saying that they won't even notice us?" Nicole asked curiously as she and Joshua stood in the Scramble and watched as an ambulance was bringing her unconcious body to the hospital. "They won't see or hear us at all," Josh replied as the ambulance drove away. "Unless you want me to give you back your life?" "No, I'm good." She interrupted before he could even move a hand. She looked around before noticing something off: was it just her or was Joshua's hair slowly turning blond?
"Let's just go." She said, ignoring that one detail and walking past her new partner to Hachiko. Joshua just looked at her curiously before shrugging and followed the orangette. Halfway there he noticed her just standing there and went to see what it was, and he barely took a step past her before hitting a wall. "Stupid wall keeper..." He grumbled as he remembered the invisible wall and that it could be placed anywhere.
"Now what?" She asked as he finished his mumbling and looked around for the Reaper in charge of the wall, but there was none to be found. "What in Shibuya?" He whispered before being shoved. "What is wrong with you?!" He shouted as he sat up and stared at her. She was lying on the ground and picked her head up before looking above him and pointed towards the wall. Her eyes wide with shock and fear.
He looked at what she was pointing at and instantly saw the Noise, although it was colored differently.
It was a Garage Wolf but instead of it being black and gray like usual, it was purple with red and yellow markings. Its proud black eyes stared at them before it howled and ran off in the direction of the West Exit/Bus Terminal before turning around and stared at them. "I think it wants us to follow it." She said as it sat down and waited for them patiently. "This is the first time a Noise has wanted us to follow them." He said as they walked towards it and it moved again. "I don't think it's a Noise," She said as the bus terminal came into view. "Not with those weird markings and color." She was right, the wolf looked like it was graffiti that came to life instead of a creature that was created from someone's mind. Just as they stepped into the terminal, the wolf turned itself into a small light and then vanished. "No Noise can do that." He said as they watched in shock.
"I said it before and I'll say it again: I don't think it's a Noise." She replied as they stared in shock for a few more seconds before looking at the building the strange creature brought them to.
The 104 Building.
"Now why would that creature bring us here?" Joshua asked as he and Nicole looked around the inside of the main entrance. "I mean what could be useful besides getting clothes in the 104?" As he was talking, a light shone from a potted plant and Nicole walked over to see what it was before plucking it out of the soil.
"Whoa.." She said before turning to the rambling blond. "Look at this!" It was a microchip, nearly transparent enough to see the wiring within it but big enough to fit in her Mp3 player on the end where the charger goes. "What's so special about it?" He asked as she fumbled around her scarf for her Mp3 and plugged the microchip in. It was the message in it that was special about it.
Today I took a walk in the clouds
Today I took a walk in the clouds
Used to keep my eyes wide shut
But now I'm staring down
Today I felt a switch in my vein
Today I felt a switch in my vein
Used to be a shadow
Now a shadow scream my name
And in the daylight I could swear
We're the same
But I'm just an ordinary human
(Ordinary ways)
I'm just an ordinary human
But I don't feel so ordinary today
I'm just a picture perfect nothing
Sometimes I medicate
I'll be a picture perfect human
Before the sun goes down today
Today I felt a switch in my vein
Today I made them all afraid
Used to be a shadow
Now a shadow scream my name
And in the daylight I could swear
We're the same
But I'm just an ordinary human
(Ordinary ways)
I'm just an ordinary human
But I don't feel so ordinary today
I'm just a picture perfect nothing
Sometimes I medicate
I'll be a picture perfect human
Before the sun goes down today
Just an ordinary human
But I don't feel so typical today
There'll be peace in the city tonight
Peace in the city tonight
But when I'm gone
I hope they get it right
There'll be peace in the city tonight
Peace in the city tonight
For when I'm gone
I hope they get it right
Just an ordinary human
(Ordinary ways)
I'm ordinary human
I don't feel so ordinary today
But when I'm gone
I hope they get it right
"Well done Composer, you have gotten your first clue. Now answer this riddle: From two worlds one will prevail, from one kind two will prevail, which one has the most power to prevail?"
"That was strange." He said as they walked out of the 104 Building with the song on an endless repeat since no matter how many times they tried, the microchip wouldn't budge. "Let's see if Sanae can help with it." She looked at him before rolling her eyes and nodded. As they walked to WildKat, there was one detail that Nicole couldn't get out of her head... even though she was staring curiously at it.
Joshua's hair was now completely dark blond.
