The best friends agreed on making a retreat back to the campus and headed for the door that lead to the high street. Galinda burst from concealment, letting out a joy filled squeal at the sight of settled snow. The third descending groaned and stepped back at the sight.
"Oh Elphie Lurlinemas is coming. Look at all the snow that has settled, I love snow!"
"Do you love snow storms?..." The emerald girl tightly held in her laughter, lips curling slightly upwards. On doing so she received a dagger like expression from the blonde whose brows furrowed and orbs of icy blue squinted back at her which read 'you know damn well I don't like storms'.
"I will pretend I didn't here that Elphaba." With a swish of golden locks and pleated skirts she strutted to the doorway, purse in hand. As the frottican placed her hand on the door handle she looked back at Elphaba who was still standing in the middle of the room.
"Well? You coming?"
"Galinda I can't risk getting wet...". Galinda looked confused and then realised what Elphie meant due to her predicament with the compound of water. Her eyes widened.
"Oh sorry I never thought of it. Here," she took out her wand and begun to conjure a proof spell to deflect any snow if it were to turn back into the state of water.
" yakay umoo tarmin yani ..yakay umoo tarmin yani ..yakay umoo, umoo!"
With a slight twinge Elphaba could feel the force field around her and shot Galinda a surprise expression. She looked down at herself and swished her head from side to side to glance over her body.
"It actually appears that THE Galinda Upland has been offering the teachers an oppurtunity to allow her ears to consume their lecturing and comprehend their frame of work?"
Galinda smiled a dazzling smile and shrugged her shoulders. "I have been listening yes-" her chin jutted up in triumph. Elphaba smirked and gave her a slow nod which indicated she was pleased.
"I must say I'm impressed my sweet..." Elphaba said as she walked passed the blonde. Galinda couldn't help but feel a little contented and she felt obliged to feel so. She couldn't comprehend why she felt such satisfaction in impressing Elphaba. The emotion was inevitable and she revelled in it as it made her feel as if she were on a high or taller, metaphorically speaking "of course".
As they walked out Galinda then shot ahead of Elphaba and plunged her feet into the masses of snow to kick it up in the air. 'How juvenile can you get miss Galinda yet still look so adorable' the emerald girl thought in her head. She couldn't help but smile at the thought. She imagined what Galinda must of looked like when she was a young girl, sprinting around in the pile of it, tossing the snow out of blonde curls, pink ear muffs and gloves to match. Elphaba was drawn from her thoughts when she noticed Galinda was rushing back to her full pelt. Forgetting that she had placed a force field around Elphaba she collided with its energy and got hurled backwards. The frottican's face, first struck with shock was now bright as she burst into a set of giggles and began rolling and swishing limbs up and down to create a figure of what should have passed for a snow angel.
"What in Oz are you doing Galinda may I ask?"
"Elphaba I am making a snow angel can't you see?"
"Not really it just looks like you swishing limbs in a blobbed figure gone wrong."
"I would like to see you try?" Galinda thought to toy her back. Elphaba gave her a look.
"No thanks..."
The blonde carried on swishing her arms until she felt the wetness of snow beginning to dampen her curls she stopped herself and swiftly leapt of the snowy ground. "Oh my Oz, ew ew ew ew ew ew ew!"
"I think that was a easily determined outcome right there Glin."
"Oh whatever-"
"But it was-"
"Yes, blah blah blah-" She dismissed Elphaba's comments as she began to brush herself down from the remnants of snow.
When done, Galinda carried on beside Elphaba with her hand resting on the emerald girls shoulder whilst admiring the new atmosphere which surrounded them. Chimneys were puffing smoke, presumably from fire places and boilers burning. The smell of drift wood, scented candles from near by shops, decorated and stocked with Lurlinemas goodies ready for the season. It was becoming familiar yet again. The blonde couldn't help the excitement from brewing inside her, it must have been radiating from her since Elphaba turned to look at her and gave her a look to say 'are you serious?' Yet the emerald girl couldn't help but think it to be deliciously cute. There she went again with the word 'cute' in her vocabulary. Galinda suited it perfectly in every sense of the word, to Elphaba she was endearing.
"I don't see how you can get so excited about a seasonal holiday, it's a sham really. a reason for shops to accumulate a decent profit each year of this very month and people oblige to it." Galinda released a subtle gasp and gave Elphaba a shocked look which had subtle hints of bafflement. The frottican nodded her head vigorously, blonde ringlets fluttered along her shoulders. She grabbed her emerald friend by her sides in order to make her give steady eye contact.
"You must not think like that! How can you think like that even!" The frottican gave her a light slap on her side. "It's absurd!"
"Glin...you're over-"
"No! I'm not over reacting, you're under reacting. It's a time for everyone to come together as a union, spend time with your loved ones in comfort and peace for once; Instead of fighting and arguments and other affairs...it's a festive time consisting of love, care and joy with laughter of children and...and..happiness?"
"I can immediately recall that those sentiments have never ever played a part in the so called "joyous" Lurlinemas that you speak of. in my experiences anyway.
Galinda frowned at that. She guessed that Elphaba's parents couldn't have been very attentive. Another reason as to why Elphaba felt out of sync when it came to socialisation or contact. She just shut down.
"I-I'm sorry."
"I'm not."
"What do you mean."
"I don't wish to feel sorry for myself and I don't need you to pity me. The reason why I don't bother about Lurlinemas is because to me, it was like another ordinary day. Another day of moping as Nessa opened her presents as I just sat upstairs reading, waiting for darkness to fall so I could fall asleep without the distraction of hearing joyful laughter. I had no reason to celebrate Galinda. IT WAS JUST ANOTHER WASTED DAY-" Galinda noticed Elphaba's eyes go into their glazed look out of anger at herself and the invading memories. "just another bloody day. " she muttered quietly to herself.
As stern as it sounded, Galinda could hear the crack in Elphaba's voice and the spark of sadness it contained.
"Elphie...Elphie, look at me." Her emerald friend did as she was asked and looked into those deep Sapphires.
"I'm sorry that things were the way they were. Whether you like me taking sympathy or not I don't care. What I do know...is that I care about you very much and the way you were treated indifferently was wrong, I wish...I wish those times could have been better for you and you know what, better still. I am going to do that now. I am going to give you the best Lurlinemas you could ever have period. NO BUTS! I know it won't make up for all the other lurlinemases however I just want to show you how it should be...and with love and-"
"Galinda..a lurlinemas with you makes up for all those lost memories and lurlinemas holidays. Being with you makes it seem like something actually special is beginning to take wing and that is an element I wish to be apart of my sweet." The emerald girl finished with a warm yet sad smile and placed a lingering kiss on the blondes cheek. Galinda felt her tear ducts pull slightly and felt herself foolish for the matter and retreated into Elphaba's embrace, finding a cosy spot on the verdant girls shoulder to rest her head on. Then she realised.
"Uh..Elphie the shield must have worn off..I don't think I have enough energy to do it again."
"Then let us get going."
"Ah but first." Galinda dragged Elphaba into the nearby archway that no one would ever think to go through due to its hidden premises. With light force the frottican pushed Elphaba against the the wall, and gently combed her fingers through her roommates hair, curling the endless straight lengths of inky locks around them at its ends. Elphaba looked down at the blonde and shivered at the gesture.
"You know...I really appreciate what you did Miss Elphaba." The verdant girl swallowed as she heard the low rasp in her voice.
"I know you don't like going out and the fact that you have required to present yourself in such clothing and accomodate me with a nice meal, as well as not being of your usual sarcastic pessimist nature, I must say I am quite impressed... I thank you."
" you're welcome." Elphaba cursed herself in her mind at what she thought was a witless reply. The way the blonde was looking at her she would have thought that the blonde was purring. She found herself dumbfounded and couldn't find the words to say.
"Let me express my gratitude properly." With that said Galinda cupped Elphaba's face in her palms and drew her closer. She placed her lips on Elphaba's; baby pink kissing forest green. She slowly glided her tongue on the descending's lips, asking for silent entry. Elphaba complied and opened her mouth slightly to allow the blonde access and both of their tongues intertwined and fought for dominance. To Galinda's surprise Elphaba submitted which only fuelled her excitement. Was she beginning to allure an unknown element of Elphaba? Perhaps. With that said Elphaba grabbed Galinda's sides and spun her around so she was the one pressed up against the wall and run her hands through the blonde curls, Galinda whimpered at the action as it sent shivers down her spine ending with a heat to arise. Elphaba moaned at the endearing sound and lightly nipped at the blonde's bottom lip before slowly daring herself to to kiss down Galinda's jaw, to her neck, to the junction between her neck and her collar bone. She placed a open mouthed kiss in the area before stopping to breath and looked at the blonde who was left breathless. Galinda saw the sheepish look she was wearing.
"Oh Elphie that was-"
"Interesting?"
"The most alluring and Oztastic kiss I've had, you little minx who would have thought you had it in you." The frottican gave Elphaba a sly glance of which endorsed the verdant girl to blush.
"Loving yoooouuu." Galinda sing singed as she skipped around her.
"Come on let's get going."
"Why Yes, more Spanky panky to be installed indeed, yes!"
"MISS GALINDA!"
Galinda giggled at her roommates use of the honorific "Oh Elphie I was joking, come on then."
The two roommates followed on into the courtyard to lead to the campus grounds which was now coated in a white sheet of snow. Elphaba stopped at the sudden hint of harsh movement that had come from behind her. Galinda noticed Elphaba was no longer at her side and turned round to look at her to understand what may have posed The third descending to stop dead in her tracks.
"Whatever is a matter?"
"Didn't you hear that?"
"Oh come on Elphaba its probably just the gust of wind hurling everything around, stop getting paranoid, now come on I'm getting cold now." The blonde pouted in Elphaba's direction. Alert, Elphaba was hesitant to proceed on, she slowly turned her head back to Galinda and began to walk at her side again.
This time the clatter of barrels and laughter echoed from the other protruding archways in different directions. The third descending only grew more suspicious of the noise as it got nearer.
"No, Galinda I am Oz damn sure that wasn't wind that time, there is someone snooping on us." Indeed they were, but who? Elphaba did not know and was it of a threatening manner, Elphaba could only suspect.
