All that I can say is sorry! I have been an awful writer and I apologize!

Jake's phone lit up.

Message for Brat.

'Hey, guess what!'

Jake rolled his eyes before replying with a 'What?!'

'You're present is here! :) Get over here!'

Jake told Sam he was on his way as rolled off the couch. He threw on his jacket and grabbed his keys. He briefly wondered what she had gotten him and then his mind wondered to all the things going on in his life. He was getting stressed with all the things happening and he was thankful for the support Sam had shown him.

He pulled into Riverbend and saw Sam walking across the yard to the barn with a green gift bag in hand. Her hair stuck out against her green hat, making her hair look even redder than ever. Jake's mouth went dry as he cut the engine.

"Hey Jake," Sam called, waving with her finger tips.

"Brat," Jake drawled, his eyes scanned the yard. The farm truck was the only vehcile present. "Anyone home?" He double checked.

Jake followed Sam into the barn, "Nope," She said over her shoulder.

"Than why are we going in the barn?" He questioned, rubbing his hands together to generate heat.

Sam turned around, and looked at Jake dryly, "Because I don't know when people will start getting home and I thought the barn was the least suspicious place we could be."

Jake contemplated that a second before nodding, "Good thinking," Sam rolled her eyes and nodded. Sam bounded up the stairs to the barn loft. Jake followed suit. "What did ya get me?" Jake smiled as Sam held the bag out to him.

"Why don't you open it and find out?" Sam smirked. Jake took the bag from her hands and she bounced on her heels with anticipation. It was a small bag and Jake inspected it carefully before opening it.

He pulled out a small jewelry box. He raised an eyebrow at Sam. She bit her lip and gestured at him to hurry up. He slowly lifted up the lid.

He tried to hid his disappointment when a watch stared at him. "It's really nice, Brat," Jake swallowed, he was concious of the burning on the back of his neck, but knew if he rubbed his neck Sam would catch on. He looked up at Sam and faked a smile, but the smile slipped from her face immediately.

"You don't like it!" Her face got red and her eyes started watering.

Jake's eyes widened. "I love it!" He said, examining it quickly. It was had a black leather band, with a silver face. The arms wear black.

"Don't lie to me, Jake!" She started getting more angry.

Jake sighed, "Okay, I don't understand why you thought I'd want a watch?"

"Because I thought you appreciated simple things!" Sam exclaimed.

"I do! But I can look at my phone for the time, or look at the point in the sky." Jake replied. "You know I'm good at that..."

A tear slipped down Sam's face. "It has a compess, I thought you'd like it for tracking..."

"That's really sweet, I didn't realize that," Jake examined the watch yet again and sure enough it had a small compess on the face.

"It's waterproof too, unlike your phone..." Sam started down the stairs. Jake grabbed her wrist.

"Thank you, I'm sure it will come in handy," Jake said, trying to defuse the situation. Sam looked at him through her lashes.

"I can return it," Sam mumbled.

Jake shook his head, "No, you're right this is just the thing I need."

Sam wiped her eyes. "Yeah?"

"Yeah! Think of how easy it is to break a phone!" Jake patted where his phone was in his jeans. "Or how fast batteries die!"

Sam smiled a little bit. "See that's why I thought you'd like it."

Jake kissed her forehead. "You're starting to think ahead."

Sam leaned her head on his shoulder. "You finally got through to me..." She grumbled. Jake nodded. He tilted her head up and wiped her tears. He kissed her cheeks and then a broad smile broke out on his face.

They just held each other a while before Sam mumbled, "That's like the first real fight we've had as a couple, isn't it?" She glanced up at him.

Jake thought, "We fought two days ago when Ross found out,"

"That doesn't really count though," Sam shrugged, pulling away and looking Jake in the eyes.

Jake raised an eyebrow, "Why?"

Sam rolled her eyes, "That was just a misunderstanding," Jake just decided to go with it. "So how's life?" Sam sat on a bale.

Jake filled her in on everything that had been going on in his life. Nate's sexuality, how Maggi and Maxine were doing, and Lacy just pulling up at his house.

Sam's eyes widened at the news about Nate but she didn't comment. She got extremely excited when she heard that Maggi and Maxine were so compatible. The news about Lacy sent her into a tizzy. "Is she going to let them take a DNA test?" Sam's voice sounded a little resentful. Jake shrugged. Sam shoved him off the bale. "You need to go home and find out." Jake scoffed. "Seriously, go!"

"Fine!" Jake exclaimed as Sam started shoving him down the stairs. "Just wait though!" She stopped shoving him. He was two steps below her so he was almost the same height as her. He pulled her waist to him and kissed her soundly on the lips. "Now I'll go," She swayed a little as he pulled away. He smirked, knowing that he won that little battle.

I didn't check spelling or grammar, I just wanted to get this up. SO please excuse the mistakes.
