"Seeker, she's waking. She'll be fully aware in the hour," My eyes were too heavy to lift, it felt as if two giant bruises had settled themselves over my eyes. The deep voice I heard rang through my ears over and over, like an echo stuck in reverberation between two walls, which happened to be the sides of my skull.
"Good. I'll have Leliana's men escort her to the dungeon for questioning. I'll be back shortly." A rough sounding feminine voice spat out, her voice was farther away, and her echo didn't last as long. For few calm minutes, it was just us. I could hear the deep voice's shallow breaths, as if thinking, possibly inspecting.
Then I heard a clatter of metal, and the sound of boots hitting stone.
"You should be delicate with her, or at least-" The deep voice took my left hand protectively.
"Delicate?!" The rough voice scoffed, "I'll decided how to deal with her. As she deserves."
"All I ask is that you don't kill her." The deep voice was more direct with his demand.
A moment of tense silence passed before the rough voice spoke again, but this time more quietly, "Fine. You've helped us this far. I will give you this favor. Although I cannot guarantee the result of her trial, Solas."
"I wouldn't expect you to go that far for me, Cassandra."
Gently, the deep voice lifted me into his arms. My head fell sideways, and my eyes opened for a second to see a pale elf... Elf?! But I was too tired and exhausted to physically show my surprise. My eyes drifted close again when he handed me over to a cold armored man.
In reflex I shivered, which made the guard jump and drop me. I could hear a body moving forward to catch me but they were a little too late. That feeling of falling, that punches you in the pit of your stomach, jolted me awake. Although still groggy I was able to brace my fall with my hands and knees.
I mumbled and rolled over, my arms felt like jelly. The figure that tried to save me, helped me to my feet. My arm was slung over their shoulders and soon enough I found the strength to walk, barely.
"I think it better if I come with you for know, Seeker." The deep voice resonated in my ear.
I heard a sigh, "Only to the chamber, but once she is situated you must leave, I won't have you interfering."
Slowly we made our way to...somewhere. I refused to open my eyes, my only goal was to keep moving alongside the body next to me. I couldn't think straight, my thought continuously felt blocked.
What felt like hours later I was lowered onto the cold stone ground and chained, finally having stopped walking I laid my head down on the floor and slept. I felt like a horse had kicked me in the head.
Some time later I awoke to a searing pain in my left hand, lime green light sputtered out from it.
"Ahhh!" I screamed, trying to get away from my hand. Unfortunately my hand happened to be attached to one of my limbs, making it impossible to get away from.
The door swung open with a crash and two figures surrounded by their guards walked in.
I recognized the rough voice, but this time it didn't echo, "Tell me why we shouldn't kill you now." The rough voice belonged to a woman with short dark black hair and tan skin, and a scar marred her face.
The only response I could think of came out like a whimper, "Because you promised him."
The rough woman took a quick intake of air, and then brought her gauntlet to full force impact on my cheek. I was knocked backwards, and fell on my back, winding me for a second.
"Cassandra!" A feminine and french voice called out, and appeared by Cassanrda's side.
Cassandra backed away, before resuming her interrogation, "The conclave is destroyed. Everyone who attended is dead...Except for you."
Thoughts were spinning in my mind. I had no idea what she was talking about, and if I didn't answer I had no idea what she'd do to me. Promise be damned.
"I-I don't know what happened."
She rushed towards me and held up my left hand, which was still glowing, "Explain this!" She threw my hand back down.
"I can't!" I pleaded.
"What do you mean you can't?!" Cassandra was infuriated.
"I don't know what that is. Or how it got there!"
"You're lying!" Cassandra yelled in anger. She grabbed me by the neck, making me fear for my life.
The french woman pushed her back away from me, "We need her Cassandra!" Cassandra nodded and took a few steps back.
The french woman turned to me, "Do you remember what happened? How this began?"
"How...what began?" I was so afraid to ask that simple question.
Cassandra burst out, "There's a hole in the sky pouring demons into our world! And right now, you are our only suspect."
Taken aback by her outburst I try and remember, "I remember running...so much running...and things chasing me...there was a woman-"
"A woman?" The french woman said in surprise.
"Yes. But that's all I remember. Sorry."
"Cassandra, take her to the forward camp. I will go on ahead...I have someone I must speak with," The french woman ordered Cassandra, who gave her a slight glare.
"Come with me. You need to see the Breach for yourself." She unchained me and lifted me onto my feet, "Can you walk?"
"I think I can." I was wobbly at first but caught my balance, and made my way with Cassandra out the door.
The Breach...was overwhelming and terrifying. A lime green pulsing heart in the middle of the sky.
Dream. Dream. Dream.
When the daylight hit my pale brow, it felt like a darkness had been lifted on my mind. My reason, my personality, my memories, all came flooding back to me.
Dream, dream, dream.
I fell to my knees, mouth agape. My eyes were glued to the Breach, and tears streamed down my face.
Where in god's name was I? What was that? What happened to me?
Dream dream dream.
"What is your name?" Cassandra asked me, snapping me out of my stupor.
My name? What was my name...? A switch went off in my brain, how could I have forgotten my own name? "Snow."
"What a peculiar name. Snow." Cassandra said, testing out my name.
"Anyway, I am Cassandra as you already know. We must make our way to the forward camp as fast as possible, come." She motioned forward for me to follow.
Not even half-way up the hill the Breach exploded and expanded. My mark went crazy and jolted me with pain.
"It's spreading." Cassandra said definitively, "Solas believes it is connected to the Breach. And that it could be a means to closing it."
I looked down at my hand holding it with my other, as though it were not part of my body.
Cassandra spoke again, "It is killing you slowly. The only way to stop it, Solas believes, is to close the Breach."
"Then let's end this son of a breach." I gritted my teeth through the pain. Maybe...maybe this is a dream and the key to ending this nightmare is closing that damn thing.
