A/N: The characters in my world are not exactly the same as cannon, aka not as friendly or maybe more. It's really just my interpretation, although I will do my best to re-create their voice.
Solas left and soon a different elf came by, she had short brown hair and tan skin spotted with freckles, carrying an extra pair of linen for me; a simple shirt and pair of breeches. The elf informed me that Cassandra wished to see me 'At once!'. Cassandra was not the type to play around. I dressed quickly into my new garments and followed the elf to the Chantry, where our base of operations was at in the little town of Haven.
Upon entering the Chantry, Leliana took ahold of my sore arm and rushed me into a small cluttered room at the far end of the hall. The Commander was there, hands planted on the cracked wooden table in the middle, as well as a darkly tanned woman with black silky hair. She wore golden garb and many jewels, making it apparent of her lineage. Cassandra was staring intently at the large map that lay flat on the table, she looked up only briefly to acknowledge me, before returning to her previous stature.
Leliana introduced me to the jeweled woman, "This is our Lady Ambassador, Josephine Montilyet. She tells us that she-"
The ambassador cut in, "Thank you Leliana, but I believe I can take over from here." Leliana shot a slight glare of annoyance at Josephine from being interrupted, but it vanished quickly.
The ambassador continued, "We," She motioned to the people within the room; Cassandra, Cullen, and Leliana, "Have come to a consensus to the fact that you're not hostile and no not wish us immediate harm," She had an accent that covered her every word in rolls, I was not expecting it and it surprised me, "But!" She held up a hand clenching an ink quill, "We do not know your intentions or motives. Or how you came to be at the Conclave; an elf with no markings-" My hand instantly flew up to my ear, meeting two smooth slant edges joined at a soft, yet pointed, tip. I was an elf. This made no sense. I was human! The battle...I'm sure I had been human then! But I couldn't be sure. I never checked.
"You're clearly not Dalish. I've been told you were not aware of your magical abilities until the battle, and overall you seem disoriented and now...even surprised that you're an elf!" Josephine was bewildered, and it showed on her face, "Who are you?"
I start to shake my head uncontrollably. I try breaking out of this dream. Its the step between realizing its a dream, and taking control of it. I knows it a dream, so why can't I control it?! I drop to the floor and crawl under the table like a scared child. I wrap myself up in my arms and bring my knees up to shield my body.
The room is stunned, one moment I'm completely sane and listening patently, the next, I cower under a table.
"Wake up," I whispered.
There was a silence in the room that lasted for seconds before the Commander got on his knees and joined me.
"Wake up," I say.
"Wake up from what?" His voice is gentle again, cautious too.
"You're not real. This can't be real. Magic doesn't exist. Elves don't EXSIST!" I yell, and break out crying, "You're a figment of my imagination. And Solas...he...he must be my guide that my brain created to help me escape...or...or something!"
"WAKE UP!" I scream. The Commander holds me again, giving me support. And I hate it.
I glare at him but he does not let go. I knew that I would need to explain. I calm down for a moment, but end up working myself up again "I don't know what to believe anymore. Sometimes I accept myself being in this world and others I'm convinced that I can wake up. I mean, I can't just tell myself: Yep! You're in a magical fantasy world and its real with all the aspects that come with reality including death and, oh yeah! ELVES." I ramble on and on, "I don't even remember how I got here. The last thing I remember is getting a call from my father, hell, I don't even remember what that was about. I was in my apartment chilling out with a friend when I got the call..." My position was more relaxed and I zoned out looking into the Commander's eyes, trying to remember everything I could.
"You're saying, that you're not from Thedas. That you're not even from this world. Or the Fade? What is an apartment? What do you mean by chilling out" He let go of me and bombarded me with questions. I knew that everyone above was listening with keen ears.
"No. No, I'm not. I'm from Earth. I'm from the United States. I'm from Virginia! I'm from-" He covers my mouth with a calloused hand.
"Calm down. Please, this is hard for all of us to take in too. You speak foreign names to us. But I can assure you, we are real," He offers his hand to me, "Will you come back above and we can discuss this in the light? Preferably somewhere comfortable?"
I take his hand and he lifts me up, I'm faced suddenly by three sets of wide eyes staring back at me. The Commander puts his arm around me and leads me out the suffocating room.
Solas awaited us outside the room pacing nervously. When he saw my state he rushed to my side, "What has happened?"
"You're friend here says she's not from here. Not from this world," The Commander answered him stiffly, "Not from the Fade either. Somewhere else entirely."
"Snow."
"What?" The Commander asks.
"My name is Snow. I'm a person. I would prefer to be called my name instead of simply referred to," I hiss at him. I wretched myself out of his grasp, "And I don't need you coddling me like a child! I am 26 years old!" I realized I was acting crazy, and any rational person would have been cautious around me as though dealing with a child's temper tantrum. But at the same time I felt justified by my actions. I had a reason to be acting this way, but that doesn't mean I'm going to explode or fall into a million little pieces.
Cassandra bursts open the door from the previous room, "Commander! I demand to know what is going on! The threat of the Breach remains, even with this temporary peace!"
I sigh, I had given up hope, I had resigned. But I didn't know that what I resigning into was a completely new life and purpose that was would change the very essence of my being and personality. That would make me invest in this world and care to stay.
"I am Snow." My voice was clear and strong, it demanded attention.
"A mage, and an elf." If that is what I am here, then that is what I will be.
"And I will end this Breach for you." My mission, my quest, my journey.
Accept your destiny, a voice said inside my head. I had no choice but to comply.
