A/N: Hey everyone! After finally getting around to watching Soul Eater a second time I became re-inspired to write some more KiMa fanfiction. These next two chapters are going to be focused on Kid's version of that one fateful day in Professor Stein's biology class ;) I'll work on chapter 3, though since I do have difficult classes this year (along with immense amounts of homework) it will be a slow process. In the meantime, do enjoy and as always, reviews and constructive criticism are welcome! Oh and if there are any formatting/grammatical issues, I apologize for that and I'll be doing my best to fix those...

The day had started out as a difficult one for Lord Death's eminent son, Death the Kid.

As the bells rang out inside the DWMA to signal the dismissal of first period classes, the young shinigami tried to ignore his body's hungering desire for more rest. Walking from his first period classroom to his second period classroom was painfully slow, and along the way Kid cleared his sleep-infested mind enough to remember exactly why he was so drowsy in the first place...

xx(Flashback)xx

There was nothing but peace, quiet, and darkness.

Well, at least there was until...

"Kid! Kid! Kid! Wake UP already!" Someone was quite roughly gripping him by his shirt collar and shaking him awake.

"Hehehe yeah Kid, wake up!" Someone else giggled while poking him in the back and sides with brute force. Bleary-eyed, Kid managed to read the clock resting on his nightstand.

'5:00 A.M...Damn,' he thought to himself. "Liz, Patty, this had better be pretty damn important or the two of you will pay for wrecking the perfect symmetry of my sleep!"

"Hel-lo!? Of course this is important! I have my first actual date with Soul today and I'm mentally FLIPPING OUT!" Liz practically shouted in Kid's face.

"Yes, that's become very apparent," the reaper deadpanned, giving Liz an exasperated look. "However, that doesn't explain why you had to wake me up 3 hours before school starts."

"Because today has to go perfectly, and 'perfectly' starts with us not being several hours late to school thanks to your OCD! I took the extra step to wake us up 3 hours earlier than usual so you could get started on straightening the house, and so I could perfect my look for the day. The latest we can leave is 7:50 so we'd better get moving." Liz finally released Kid's shirt and headed towards the door to the hallway. "C'mon Patty, let's go find something for me to wear."

"O-tay!" Patty cheered as she scurried out the door with her sister.

Finally, Kid sighed and fell back against his pillow. "Today is going to be interesting," he said to no one in particular.

xx(End Flashback)xx

Ah yes. That's what happened. Not even sleeping through first period had allowed him much respite from the strings of exhaustion weighing him down. Still, he did feel much more alert now than he had earlier. And, despite his attitude that morning, he was indeed proud to see Liz and Soul so happy together…also, perhaps, a little jealous of how easily the two expressed their feelings.

Kid sighed as he stepped through the entryway to his second period class-Biology with Professor Stein.

"Oh please let him take it easy today," Kid mentally pleaded. "In the state I'm in, I'm not sure I could tolerate another one of Stein's asymmetrical dissections…" He headed in the direction of his seat, though as he passed by he found he couldn't resist a small glance out of the corner of his eye aimed at a particular scythe meister. Thankfully, she seemed too out of it to notice; most likely she was mulling over information she'd read in one of her textbooks. Come to think of it, he had been seeing her more often than usual at the school's library, nearly always with a stack of books on souls, soul perception, and soul wavelengths in her arms.

"I wonder…" Kid mused as he settled himself at his desk, "Tch, yeah right…It'd be a complete (and not to mention highly unlikely) coincidence if she happened to be researching the same topics I am…" A very subtle blush crawled across Kid's face at the thought of it. "But, enough of that, I've got to focus if I want to make up for what I've already missed in this class. Being a reaper does not make it alright for me to slack off. If I ever hope to be worthy enough for Maka I must try my best in my studies, starting today!"

A determined look crossed Kid's face as he realized he had only a minute before class began. "Now, if I just focus I can complete my checklist in under a minute," Kid thought. "Straightened the bed sheets symmetrically? Check. Organized the books on each bookshelf in a symmetrical order? Check. Hung the newest paintings so they're precisely 8 inches away from the others? Check. Folded the tip of the toilet paper into a triangle? …dammit, did I forget to do that again?!" Kid, now starting to sweat, gripped the edge of his desk with all his strength whilst trying not to appear like he was having a panic attack. "I'm an abomination! How could I have possibly forgotten something so simple yet so important as folding the toilet paper?! I'll never be worthy of Maka or the name of Shinigami! I'm garbage! Asymmetrical garbage-"

"Kid, is everything alright? The bell already rang, and… uh, why are you crying and banging your head on your desk? It's very disturbing." Professor Stein sweat-dropped when he saw what the young shinigami had subconsciously been doing. Kid's faux calm demeanor had obviously fallen through. Another tiny blush crept its way up his face when he was brought back to his senses and noticed nearly the whole class was staring at him. By some miraculous stroke of luck, however, Maka's was not one of the several turned around faces Kid saw.

"She must be thinking awfully hard about something…Or someone…Er, never mind that, either way I'm just glad she didn't notice me. I'll have to work on retaining more control over myself, especially in class." These thoughts ran through Kid's head as he turned to the professor to apologize. "Excuse me, Professor, I am sorry for causing a disruption during your lesson. It won't happen again." Kid bowed his head in respect to his teacher when he finished speaking.

"Uh, it's fine…don't worry about it…you may take your seat now." Stein sweat-dropped once more at the reaper's formality. "What, is this guy from the Victorian era or somethin'? He's so formal…" The professor sighed before swiveling around on his chair to face the entire class. "Now, as I was saying before Mr. Death so kindly interrupted, class has now begun. Today we're going to be reviewing over the attributes of 'life' and what makes something qualify as a living organism. You must remember that even though you are meisters and weapons, this is still a standard Biology class and not everything covered will have a direct relationship to Kishins or fighting. Everyone turn to page one hundred six in your textbook and begin silently reading to yourself please.

Why yes, this is where chapter 2 ends (as I find writing in decent sized sections helps prevent writer's block) and I will see you all in chapter 3 when I finish it. :)
