Hello everyone, sorry it's been a long time since I was last around. My life has kind of gone downhill since I last wrote anything. Hopefully it'll be on the up now but even if it's not, at least I can write now.
Enjoy this new chapter.
I don't own Glee and all mistakes are mine.
Marley's POV
"Does anyone know what's going on?" I heard whispers going around the classroom. Mr. Schuester had called an emergency meeting because he had something to tell us. No one knew what it was though.
"Why would he call an emergency meeting?" someone else asked.
This went on for the next five minutes before Mr. Schuester walked in. He had a look of disappointment on his face.
"What's going on sir?" I asked tentatively.
He stood in front of all of us and took a deep breath. "There has been a change in plans." He said cryptically.
There was silence in the room while everyone tried to progress this information.
"Well what is it then?" Sam asked after a couple of moments.
Mr. Schuester took another deep breath. "I have to go back home. My father is ill and my mother needs some help looking after him." he told us.
"How long are you going to be gone for?" Ryder asked. I looked over at him on the other side of the room. He was sitting next to Kitty; he never seemed to be anywhere else these days.
"I'm not sure at this moment in time. I have brought someone else in to help you and give you the best possible chance." He informed the class.
"Well who is it?" Tina asked urgently.
There was a couple of moments of silence before someone walked into the room.
"Puck!" Jake said loudly from next to me.
My mouth fell open as I stared at what was apparently Jake's older brother and the guy that Rachel had a crush on the whole time she was in high school and still did. I stared over at Jake who was also staring over at his brother as well as every other person in the room, old and new students alike.
Jake's POV
I stayed silent through the rest of the lesson while Puck observed the lesson. I couldn't believe that he had come back. He was supposed to be happy in L.A., he was supposed to want a life away from Lima and now he was back. Why?
When I left the choir room, Marley was outside the room waiting for me.
"We're not talking about my brother. That's the deal." I told her as soon as she started walking along the corridor with me.
"I wasn't going to talk about your brother." Marley told me. Or lied to me.
"Liar." I laughed.
She looked at me with her mouth hanging open in mock outrage. "I was not lying," she insisted.
I stared at her.
"Ok, maybe I was lying a little." She said in a rush.
"Mhmm."
"So it's really out of the question?" she asked hopefully. I stared at her and scowled and she held her hands up. "Ok, so it's out of the question." She clarified.
It lasted all of thirty seconds, until we got out into the parking lot, before Marley caved.
"What is he doing back here?" she asked.
I shrugged for two reasons. One; because I genuinely had no answer, and two; because I still didn't want to talk about this.
She attempted to ask some more questions until she realised that I wasn't going to be answering anything for her and she eventually gave up.
"You're no fun." She moaned.
I laughed. "Let me get my head around this first and then you can ask me as many question as you like." I told her as we arrived outside my house. I knew Puck wouldn't be home yet since he told me he had things to go over at the school with Mr. Schue before he came back.
"Fine. I guess I can live with that." She told me. She then smiled. "See you tomorrow Jake." She said, giving me a hug.
Without answering, I walked into my house, watching her walk away before I closed the door.
Ryder's POV:
"I don't feel comfortable keeping this from Marley." I told Kitty as we stood under the bleachers, away from prying eyes. Ever since we'd started going out, we'd tried to keep our new relationship under wraps. Not for any reason apart from the fact that we wanted to get to know each other on romantic terms on our own without other people getting involved. "She's our best friend."
Kitty sighed. "Aren't you enjoying keeping this as our little secret?" she asked seductively.
She had a point. "I am, but Marley is my best friend. I've never kept a secret from her like this before and I don't want to start now." I told her.
Kitty softened and sighed. "Hmm, I guess I can't argue with that. I've never had someone that's as close to me as Marley is to you. Someone I can tell all my secrets to, you know. I never got close to any of the girls at the boarding school, I had friends but never close friends."
"You've got Marley. Maybe it could change for you now?" I told her.
"I don't think we're going to be as close as you and her." Kitty laughed.
"You are contending with someone's she's known for years." I laughed. I then turned serious. "So we'll tell her then?" I asked her, nervous of the answer.
She nodded her head. "You're right, I don't want you and Marley to fall out so yes, we can tell her." She agreed.
I picked her up and spun her around while I listened to her giggle. I absolutely loved her laugh. When I set her down, I kissed her hard on the lips. "We'll do it at lunch. I want to do it before Glee this afternoon." I demanded.
"Fine." She said simply.
Kitty's POV:
Even though there was some part of me that wanted to keep our secret still secret, I cared about Ryder and I couldn't argue with his argument.
When lunch time came, Ryder and I both met each other and walked to the choir room, where Ryder had asked Marley to meet us.
When we got there, she was already there which meant that I couldn't take some time to digest what I was about to do. Ryder might not have needed it but I certainly did.
"Marley." Ryder began as we walk in. She stares over at us and instantly smiles. "I have something to tell you." He tells her.
"Ok." She said happily. We both went over and sat by her. I sat by Ryder of course.
A look of recognition came over her face then.
"You two are dating." She said, like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
Shock was instantly plastered over Ryder's face. "You know?" he asked.
"I wasn't sure about it but you kind of made your close friendship obvious over the last couple of weeks. I think you two make a cute couple." She told us.
I let out a long breath of air that I wasn't aware I was holding. "You don't mind that two of your friends are dating?" I asked nervously.
I had no reason to be worried though. She shook her head. "As long as you two don't put me in middle if anything bad should happen between the two of you. You two are both my friends and I don't want to be made to pick sides." She told us confidently. "Ryder is always going to be my best and oldest friend but that doesn't mean that I'm going to instantly side with Ryder." She finished.
"We won't." Ryder promised before I had a chance to say anything.
"Then there is no reason for me to object to the two of you being together. Like I said, you're a cute couple."
Marley's POV:
"So I've got something to tell you." I said to Rachel nervously as I spoke to her on the phone later that evening.
"Ok." She said tentatively. "Should I be worried?" she asked. "This isn't anything to do with dad or daddy is it?" she asked. I could hear a slight break in her voice.
"No!" I said quickly so as to stop her from crying. "Something happened at school today?" I told her.
Her voice dramatically changed to being happy and excited. "Did Jake finally ask you out?" she asked, overly-enthusiastic.
"It has to do with a Puckerman." I muttered, half hoping that she wouldn't hear what I'd just said.
"Excuse me?" she asked pointedly. She'd definitely heard me.
"Puck is teaching the Glee Club." I told her in a rush.
She was silent over the phone for a little while. I even took the phone away from my ear to see if we'd been disconnected. "What happened to Mr. Schue?" she asked in a small voice.
"He has to go back home. His father is sick and his mother needs help to look after him. He's going to be gone for a little while." I told my sister.
"Right." She said distractedly. She then shouted something to someone, who I assumed was Kurt. "Thanks for telling me Marls."
I was confused. "Is that it?" I asked.
"What do you want me to say?" she asked.
I definitely thought she'd have more to say since she'd had a crush on Puck for what felt like forever. She'd never got over him. "Never mind." I said instead. "I'll talk to you tomorrow Rache." I told her.
"I have some stuff I need to study for. Let me call you." She told me.
"Fine." I said, before ending the call.
