Chapter Three-
Naru had returned to his office, finding Misumi in a state he didn't like. In fact he hated it, seeing her familiar face so sad and those eyes so broken. Who could've thought, that the Misumi they all knew was still a little girl inside, except Naru did. He knew how much Gene's death had changed her, he knew how much it had ruined her, if anyone other then him in this world had their life and soul ripped from them, it was Misumi.
And he knew he was hurting her. He knew she didn't deserve it. But he also knew that it was only for her sake. He wanted her beside him, wanted the familiar presence, once he had both his brother and Misumi beside him, but now…Misumi was all he had left. He needed her. But with a heavy heart, he knew what he had to do. She couldn't stay forever, but to distract his broken soul, and for Gene, he'll let her be beside him, like she always was. Even if it was for a short amount of time.
Misumi's Pov:
He was staring.
And my shame grew by the second. I was brought up to be the perfect lady, never to show emotions, that weren't nice or polite. No feeling was suppose to show, but I had let my guard down around Lin, and now Naru was looking at me like I've slapped him. I knew he hated seeing me like. I hated seeing myself like that too.
"Well, Misumi onee-san, we might be needing your help afterwards." Naru said shortly, averting his gaze. He was still standing by the door.
I smiled. I knew he wouldn't deny me, he never could.
"Its settled then, welcome to SPR, Misumi, I truly hope you have a calming influence on our overly narcissitic boss." Lin-san congratulated me, and walked out of the office closing the door behind. He maybe didn't see or just ignored Naru's grunt, and my failed attempt to not laugh.
I looked up from my seat at Naru, who was still standing by the door, with an unreadable expression on his face. Squinting, I hoped to catch a glimpse of the inner turmoil that was surely taking place in the said narcissist's head, but no luck.
"What is it?" I asked softly.
Finally, he came and sat beside me on the other chair, he didn't say anything. I waited.
"I know why you are here." He said quietly.
"Naru I—"
"Please don't interrupt me, I know why you are here, and I want to let you know what's going to happen. Mother's plan isn't going to work. You'll help me with this case, during which if we find what you really came to look for, good, but if you don't I wont allow you to stay a minute longer." Naru said coldly, and I felt as if the air had been knocked out of me, I couldn't face him. Even if he wasn't looking at me, it felt like I was sitting here, with no respect or dignity.
"Your Mother did not send me Oliver, -" Naru flinched. "- and I am not a child to not see how what she wants cannot happen. But Naru, there's no harm in considering. And as per your instructions, I will leave once we find Gene's…, once we finish this case you are talking about."
"I'll let Mai fill you in about the case, it's a poltergeist, that I am sure of, but maybe your overly organizational habits, and annoying persistence can finally be of some use." Without another backward glance, he stood up and left the room. Leaving me alone, with a small smile forming, even when he was cold, harsh and down right "jerky", I loved him. Gene had always said that Naru was the better half of him. And in a strange sense, he was the better half of her too.
I'm back at it! This time to finish the story :P
Let me know your thoughts!
