The woods looked lovely with the sun casting shadows against the trees, and as the platinum blonde walked across a fallen maple she couldn't help but notice how peaceful it was out here. For a moment, she almost forgot it was the end of the world. Elsa chuckled to herself and ran her right hand through her bangs. "Where the hell did you go Anna?"
She felt as though she had walked for hours, when in reality she knew it was only about an hour and a half. Then she noticed an incline in the ground, looking further to see a rather large hill. This had caught Elsa's interest and she headed in the direction of the incline, looking around for any sign of movement that was not wanted.
As Elsa climbed to the top, she crouched down and peeked over the edge, gasping at what her eyes had caught. "What the hell?" Her whisper rolled off her tongue and she continued to scan the area with her deep blue eyes.
At the bottom of the hill there was a large building, in an opening of no tree's or bushes. "Is that, a warehouse?" Elsa asked herself as she tried to look closer, almost crawling closer to the warehouse. It was large, easily big enough to be an old Wal-Mart, but it was so plain. Tall grey walls and a pointed roof, almost like a shed. There where four doors on the wall that was closest to Elsa, and they appeared to be large garage doors.
The only thing running through Elsa's mind was that in front of her was a building that looked strong enough to keep those things out, and big enough to hold everyone in. And the next though she had, was if she should go check it out now, or wait till she gets Eugene or Rapunzel with her.
After almost fifteen minutes of debating, Elsa looked around once more and then started to make her way down the hill, gun in hand. She peers at the front of the building as she quietly walks to the garage door. Her heart was leaping in her chest as she tried to pull it open. It was no good, the large doors were locked, which ment she had to find another way in.
She slowly gazed around the corner, holding her breath as she noticed a biter standing next to the other side of the wall. He didn't seem interested in anything, just stood there and looked off into the distance. It was then that Elsa noticed the small door near him. "Ah ha, that's how I get in."
She put her gun into its holster and grabbed her knife from its sheath, walking slowly up behind the biter so he wouldn't notice her. The blondes heart was pounding as she raised the knife up high and then she held her breath as the blade came down fast into the bitters neck. They fell to the ground and Elsa ripped the steel out of the decade flesh, standing back up and laughing slightly. "Woah!"
As the blonde let out the victorious shout, she heard a noise and looked up. As her eyes looked at the other side of the warehouse, her pupils dilated and her body started to tremble. "Shit" Was all she whispered before the entire hoard of about fifty bitters started to make their way over to her.
Elsa's first instinct was to run, but where would she go? It was nothing but open field and a hill behind her that lead her to the woods. Then she quickly looked to her left, seeing the door handle and running over, praying it would open. As her hand moved the cold metal, she heard the click and the door was open.
Elsa ran inside and slammed the door shut, leaning against it and closing her eyes as she heard the bitters outside the door moaning and groaning loudly. She tried to steady her breathing but the groaning grew louder, causing her to open her eyes quickly, seeing a biter walking up to her.
"Oh shit" she reached for her gun but the biter was already to close to her. She quickly reached up and pushed the biter back with all her force, reaching for her gun again. Once she had it pulled out her finger was quick to the trigger and the bitters head was blown back. The shot echoed through the warehouse and Elsa scanned the dark area for any form of light.
She found four light switches in a row on the wall next to the door and pushed them all up, hoping for a light so she could see the area. When seconds went by and nothing happened, She figured that the power was gone in this place and reached around the back of her belt for the flashlight she hooked to it.
Once she had the beam of light shining in the area, she started to walk down the empty area along the wall. "Okay you ugly sons of bitches, come on out." She spoke lightly above a whisper and looked at the steel stairs at the other end of the warehouse.
She aimed the flashlight up the stairs and then across the ceiling to see what looked like a watch tower area. Half the warehouse had a second floor, and there was a large glass window for part of it. Once she scanned the bottom floor again, she looked back up the stairs, starting her hike up the metal.
The boots she wore, made loud click noises that echoed through the warehouse. Once she was at the top of the stairs, she noticed another door, this one had a small square window on it, but it was covered in dried on blood from the inside. "Well that looks promising." She placed her left hand on the cold metal as her right hand gripped her gun tightly, causing her knuckles to turn even more pale than her skin normally was. The flashlight gripped between her teeth as she focused it on the door.
As she turned the door handle, she noticed it was locked. Trying to turn it harder and push on the door did nothing so she stopped and took the flashlight from her mouth. As she took the flashlight into her hand, she noticed the small piece of paper on the floor.
Once of her eyebrows narrowed as she leaned down, picking up the paper and setting the gun down. She brushed off the light blanket of dust and soon could see the black ink that was scribbled onto the paper.
"Dear reader, Inside this room is my family..." Part of Elsa wanted to put the note down, it was one thing to kill the bitters when it was random, but if she had to know who they where. She tried not to think about it as she looked back down at the paper.
"Inside this room is my family; my wife, two daughters, and son. The key to the room is above the door, and I ask of you to do what I could not. Put my family out of this horrid state they are in." Elsa scanned the letter four more times, looking at every curve and stroke of the pen. Then she stood back up, grabbing her gun and looking up.
She pointed the flashlight above the door, reaching up and feeling around until she felt it, the small key covered in a layer of dust. She let out a deep sigh as she fingered the key between her thumb and index before slipping it into the small keyhole. As she turned the lock, she heard the small click and put the flashlight back into her mouth, gripping the gun tightly.
Elsa turned the handle and slowly opened the door, peaking her head around the corner as she felt a drop of sweat run down her temple. The first thing her light caught was a biter sitting on the floor with his back against the wall. Then she looked over to see two more laying on the floor.
Elsa raised an eyebrow and opened the door more, pointing her gun at the biter that sat against the wall. When none of them moved, she scanned the room fully, that's when she noticed the biter that was across the room. She was sitting on the floor, leaned up against what looked like another door. This biter was looking right at her, and Elsa felt as though her heart was going to rip out of her chest.
Those eyes, they where so terrifying that Elsa almost forgot to breath. This was the first time she had ever really seen into the eyes of a biter, and it was hitting her hard. The one thing she didn't understand, was why the bitters didn't come after her. The three closest to her didn't even turn to look at her, just the one on the other side of the room.
Elsa couldn't breath, she had never been more scared than she was now. Her legs trembled and sweat ran down her face, but she didn't understand why. This biter wasn't even moving at her, it just looked at her, right in the eye.
The silence of the situation was swallowing her alive and she slowly raised her gun at the biter across the room. She didn't even move as Elsa felt her hand tremble and the gun started to shake.
Just as Elsa started to squeeze the trigger, the biter's eyes shifted to the barrel and then back to Elsa, and in that brief second Elsa could have sworn that the biter nodded in agreement. Then the trigger was pulled, and a bullet tore through the biter, leaving a small entrance wound between those damned eyes that stared so hard at Elsa.
After that shot, the blonde was quick to put bullets into the other three bitters in the room. Once that was taken care of, she took a moment to look at the equipment that was along the wall. It was almost like a security booth, with screens and monitors. Then she noticed the breaker box, and smiled to herself as she popped it open.
"Finally, some luck, now lets see if I can get some power running through here." She played with the switches until she saw the flicker of the lights downstairs. Her grin grew wide as the entire area lit up, showing just how big the warehouse really was.
Elsa leaned over the desk, looking through the glass and scanning the area. The first thing she noticed was the blood on the floor by the biter she killed when she came in here. Then she noticed the shelves against the wall with what looked like food. "Jackpot, I just hit an old safe house."
The blonde looked around the room for a light switch and smiled triumphantly when she found it. Quickly walking over she flipped the switch and watched as the light in the room came on, and then looked down as the monitors started to glow. "Hello, what do we have here?"
Once the monitors came on fully, Elsa let out a small laugh of joy as she grinned from ear to ear. "This place has its own security cameras." She couldn't stop smiling as the screen split into fours, showing every corner of the warehouse outside.
She could see the bitters that where outside the door, most leaving the area out of bordem while others just stared at the door. Elsa quickly glanced around the room and grabbed her gun, hooking the flashlight back up to her belt and looked at the screen again.
"Come on guys, get away from the door." She whispered to herself as she stared at the screen, waiting for the moment to escape. Now that she knows she has found the perfect safe house for the group, her mind has gone back to her first mission. "Anna"
Elsa slammed her hand onto the desk and then ran her hands through her hair. "How could I be so stupid! I'm running around this warehouse while Anna is out there somewhere." Then Elsa walked out of the room, jogging down the stairs as she checked her ammo and unhooked her knife for easier access.
When Elsa got to the door, she quietly grabbed the handle and took a deep breath. She whipped the door open and hit the first biter with the butt of the gun. Sliding quickly through the rest and running towards the hill.
She thought she was going to be fine until she felt the hand of a biter on her arm and she turned to stab it. However when she turned around she tripped and fell onto her back hard. Her head was spinning as she looked up and saw the biter crawling to her followed by the rest of them.
She quickly kicked the biter in the face, causing a sickly crunching sound from his face breaking, and started to crawl away backwards. She turned her body quickly and started to crawl before getting to her feet to run up the hill.
Once Elsa was at the top of the hill, she glanced back and noticed that it was taking the bitters longer to go up the hill, most of them tripping and falling. The blonde smirked and turned around, heading back through the woods quickly, making sure those things couldn't catch up with her.
As she ran, Elsa turned to look behind her and when she turned her head again, she was smacked in the face by a tree branch. "Shit!"
Her hand quickly touched her pale face as the crimson liquid started to trail down from a gash on her right cheek. She wiped it off and heard the groans of the biters in the distance, turning around to see the vague image of the bitters coming at her. "Come on, give me a break." She started to run again, feeling the air rush in and out of her lungs as she dodged bushes, rocks, and trees.
As the blonde approached a large tree, she looked around to notice the growing amount of bitters in the area. "Seriously, I have to find Anna." She growled between her teeth as she backed up and then started running straight at the tree.
In one leap, Elsa was running up the tree, and once she knew she was going to go back down she kicked off the tree and reached for the branch. Her fingers just brushed the bark as she came down hard onto the ground. "God damn it!"
Elsa grabbed her ankle and rubbed it softly before standing up and going a little further back this time. Once again, she took off for the tree and started to run up it, kicking herself off and reaching for the branch.
She grabbed ahold of it tightly and almost lost her grip when her weight pulled onto her arm. She swung her body so that her other arm could grab ahold of the branch and once her grip was good, she pulled her body up.
Elsa climbed her way up the tree until she felt she was at a safe enough hight and then looked around at all the bitters that made their way to the area. "Guess I'm not going anywhere till they all pass by." She whispered as she folded her arms together and watched the passing hoard.
It seemed like the hoard was taking forever to get away from her, thankfully none of them noticed the blonde perched up in the tree like some bird. The sun was starting to sink into the sky and Elsa was growing impatient. "God damn it Anna, where the hell did you go?"
AN: Hey Guys, I am getting better at this updating thing xD My outline was originally planned for this chapter to have a lot more into it, but I kind of liked it just being Elsa's own chapter.
