17 years later

Naruto didn't know many things but there was one thing that she was certain about: fangirls were a pain in the ass. She hadn't realized just how much a pain they would be until she began her prefect duties. In her innocence, she never considered the fact that her fellow females would do what they whispered to do with the Night Class student. She learnt just how naïve she was when she found her classmate sneaking a camera to take a photo of the Night Class students. It became even more apparent when she saw those love stuck looks on their face.

Would these girls still have so much adoration if they knew the truth about their beloved idols? If her father truly plan to advocate for the creatures of the night and humans to coexist then shouldn't he start by telling them the truth? Maybe then those girls would stop acting like idiots and maybe those vampires would stop becoming so god damn arrogant. Of course, her father would never agree to her thoughts.

He would tell her that they needed to ease them in before revealing it to them but Naruto wanted those vampires to stop being so arrogant and reckless. There had been a hundred incidents just the year before because some idiot couldn't be bother to keep his mouth shut. In fact, if it weren't for the cooperation of Kuran then the secret of all the Night Class students would have been exposed.

Shaking her head, Naruto watched as her fellow females made their way to the Night Class students' dorms. She glanced at her watch and sighed. Where was her sister? It was her turn to deal with these girls. Wait, did she get detention again? She yawned before jumping down from her spot in the tree. She knew she should wait for Yuki or Zero to come but at this rate, they were going to have a stampede.

"Girls, if you want to see the Night Class students then you better line up," she ordered, making her way to the front of the gate. "I know I should be telling you that it is time for curfew but we both know that there is no point for me to remind you this. So line up and when the boys leave, you go back to your dorm."

"Nee-chan!"

Naruto blinked at the sight of her panting sister, who had a look of disbelief but the blonde could only shrug her shoulders. Did she want her to try and stop them? She had been doing this job for nearly two years now and not once had these girls listened to her. If anything, they would accuse her of trying to become closer to the night class students, which was just silly.

She would never try to get close to a creature that was always so close to biting her neck off.

"What?"

"Why are you bending the rules for them? You know that the day class students have curfew!" Yuki whisperd to her as the girls began lining up. "We should take them back to the dorms before they come out."

She licked her lips and stared out at the gates before looking back at her sister. "It is either I bend the rules and everything is peaceful or we deal with a stampede of crazy girls, who would accuse us of wanting to hog them to ourselves. Now which one seems like a better idea?"

"The first one," Yuuki grumbled. "But the headmaster won't like what you did. I know he portrays himself as being free about this but I don't think he will be happy if you keep doing this for them."

The blond-haired girl frowned at the mention of her father. He was understanding when it came to her decisions with the Day Class students, but Naruto had never tried to see how far she could go to bend the rules for them. It hadn't even occurred to her that maybe she was going a bit too far by letting them line up in rows to see them. Well, it did occur to her but then she remembered that these girls did it anyway, without her saying a word.

So it didn't really matter.

"If they don't return to their dorms by the time they go to class then we will let Zero handle it," Naruto finally decided, putting her hands behind her neck. "Out of the three of us, they are terrified of Zero more than us."

"Where is Zero anyway?" Yuuki asked.

The blonde frowned. "I thought he was with you since the both of you have detention."

"He didn't show up like usual," her sister answered.

The blond-haired girl rubbed the sides of her temple at hearing this news. Why did it even surprise her? It had been six months since Yuuki and him entered high school but her brother was breaking every school rule their father placed in the system. Although he hadn't always been like this. There had been a time when he made some form of effort, but lately things had been different.

She just didn't know why.

Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard the gates being opened. Shaking her head, Naruto grabbed her sister's arm and pulled her to the other side of the line before going to the other line. Even though she trusted her fellow females to act like decent human beings, Naruto couldn't take the chance that they might go crazy.

To be honest, she was certain that they were going to go batshit crazy, the moment one of the Vampires opened their mouths.

"Good morning, ladies!" Aidou said, snapping her from her train of thought.

Naruto twitched at the boy's words, but bit her tongue from telling him off. There was a time and place to yell at him and yelling at him in front of his fans wasn't the right time. Maybe she should try and have a talk with Kaname or maybe even Kain. The two of them could talk some sense to the forgetful genius.

"Shouldn't we try to tell him off?"

The blue-eyed girl shook his head. "I will have Kuran talk to him because that idiot would never listen to us if we talked but the moment Kuran talks is the moment he listens."

Her sister frowned but didn't try to convince her to talk to Aidou about it. They both knew who really controlled the vampires and it wasn't them. The three of them might be considered the guardians of the Day Class and Night Class, but if you asked Naruto, they were only the guardians of the Day Class. They couldn't protect the Night Class unless their own interfered but the Day Class was different. With the Day Class, she felt like she had some form of control over them.

Her thoughts were interrupted when she felt herself being pushed to the ground. Rubbing her butt, Naruto pinched her nose as her fellow females crowded Aidou, who was making gun signals. She flickered her eyes to the other side and frowned when she saw that Yuuki had also been pushed to the ground. Pushing herself up, she glared at the girls and the few that caught her glares, were flinching at her.

"The next time you push either Yuuki or me to the ground, I will put you in detentions with our favourite sensei," Naruto hissed to the girls. She bit her lips to stop herself from smiling when the girls begged her not to go through with her plan. Unlike Yuuki, they knew that she would never go back on her word when it came to these things.

"Are you okay, Naruto-san?"

The blond-haired girl looked away from her females and turned her attention to the vampire, who held his hand out for her. Takuma, her mind reminded her as she took the vampire's hands to help herself up. She nodded her thanks before glancing at his companions, who had their eyes fixed on her. Naruto nodded her head at them before glancing at her baby sister, who was being helped up by Kuran.

"I'm fine, Takuma-senpai," Naruto finally answered, twisting her head to look at the blond-haired vampire. "You should hurry up to your class or else I will be forced to discipline you like any of the girls that won't return to their room in the next ten minutes."

"That isn't fair, Cross-senpai!" One girl yelled. "You can't boss us around."

The blond-haired girl twisted her body around and glared at the girl that dared to speak against her. Judging from the defiant look in her eyes, Naruto guessed that the girl was a first-year and this was her first time doing something like this. It was the only explanation on why she would have the guts to talk against her. She must think that she was like Yuuki, who yielded to some of the girls' demands.

"Do you see this band on my arm or not?" Naruto replied calmly, jerking her finger to her armband. "This signifies the fact that I have permission to 'boss' you around. It tells you that my word is law and if you step one toe out of line, I have the right to ground you and put you in detention for any length of time. If you are smart, you will go back to your room before I show you just how much power I have."

"Nee-chan!"

Naruto kept her eyes fixed on the girl and watched as her fellow classmates shake their heads at the newbie. She knew her words were harsh but she couldn't be the friend. Sometimes, she had to be the enemy even when she understood their obsession with the creatures of the night.

"You are lucky that I decided to let you off even though your constant screeching of 'I love Aidou-senpai' or 'I love Shiki-senpai' was giving me a headache and that you pushed Yuuki and I down!" She snarled. "Now all of you go back to your dorms."

The girls opened their mouths to argue with her but Naruto jerked her finger to the direction of the dorms, causing the girls to sigh. Did they really think that they have the right to argue with her? She was the head bitch in charge and no one could take that away from her. Just because she entertained their desires, doesn't mean that she was going to be

patient with them.

"And it is time for you to go to class…Kuran."

Naruto twisted her head around and pinched her nose when she saw her younger brother glaring at Kaname, who must have helped her sister because her brother was holding the vampire's hands with anger. One day. Just one day, she wanted her brother to pretend that he could stomach the asshole so that she wouldn't worry about these vampires becoming angry with him. Honestly, these vampires were going to cause problems because of her cute brother.

Although she understood her brother's thinking and anger towards vampires. His family had been murdered by their kind and he had been taught all his life about how evil these creatures were. To be honest, she would have reacted the same way as him if she grew up with his childhood. She couldn't imagine how painful it was for him to watch that vampire murder his parents.

It was for that reason that she never complained about how embarrassing her father could be.

"Zero, can you please stop holding Kuran's hand? I don't have the peace of mind to deal with another scene," Naruto informed her brother, keeping her eyes fixed on the furious vampires. He raised his eyebrow at her but the blond-haired girl jerked her fingers to the glaring vampires, who seemed ready to maul her brother for his insult. He rolled his eyes but did as she asked, no doubt knowing that this wasn't a place for a fight.

Naruto smiled brightly at her foster brother before staring at Kaname's retreating back and then to her baby sister. That flushed look on her sister's face was cute but it was also worrying if you asked her. There was nothing wrong with having a crush but to like a vampire like Kaname would only bring her heartache. The vampire had too many secrets if you asked her and there was something about him that made her feel weary.

Perhaps it was her human nature but something told her that this vampire would never be an ally to her, nor would he be her enemy. There was something about him that didn't make her trust him, not when he gave off those feelings.

"It is none of my business on how much you want to suck up to Kuran but you know the rules right?" Zero asked her sister, snapping Naruto from her thoughts.

The blond-haired girl stared at the vampires and then to her sister. "You know that his world is different from our world, don't you Yuuki?"

"Of course, I know Naru-neechan," Yuuki answered, folding her arms against her chest. "I know that they are different from all of us."

Different? All of the vampires seemed different from them but only one vampire didn't make her instincts act out. Perhaps the reason was that Takuma didn't act like the other vampires. Where the other vampires acted like she was beneath them, he acted the opposite. It also did not help that he liked the same kind of manga and anime. A vampire couldn't be all that bad if he liked the same kind of things.

"Just don't forget what they are, Yuuki," Naruto whispered, twisting her body around. "And Zero, please give me a message if you are going to be late because that way I know what to do. You are lucky that today I'm in a good mood and I let them do what they want."

Zero stared at her for a good couple of seconds before giving her a small nod. Naruto smiled but her smile faded when she felt a wave of pain from him. A part of her wanted to ask him if he was fine, but she knew that there was no point of asking him. He would never tell her about how he felt. The bastard wouldn't want her to worry and he would deny any feelings or pain that he felt. Sometimes, she just wanted to shake him and ask him if he thought so little of her emotional intelligence.

She just wanted him to know that she was always going to be there for him.

"Naru-chan! My oldest daughter decided to grace her father with her wonderful presence!" Her father cried out when she entered his office. The blond-haired girl winced at her father's words before smiling widely when he rushed over to give her a hug. For just a brief second, she recalled the days when she would sneak into his office and attacked him with hugs and kisses. "Did my cute Night Class students cause any trouble for you again?"

"They are being their usual charming self," Naruto replied, taking a seat in the chair. "But I'm not here to discuss about our duties, I'm here to discuss my concerns about Zero before they come here."

Her father stared at her for a good couple of seconds and sighed. Naruto looked down at her arms, wiggling her hands around her skirt before smoothing it out. She needed to get the words out, before her two siblings came here for their usual meetings. She didn't want her siblings to know that she was worried, not when they would tell her that everything was fine. She looked up at the ceiling, not daring to look at her father. He might give her a look that told her that she shouldn't worry about Zero or he might be proud because of her worry.

It wasn't something she wanted to deal with.

"Zero was late when it came to his duty but I'm not concern about that," Naruto began, looking at her father. Her old man smiled and the blonde wondered how he wasn't concern about what she had to say. Then again, Zero and her weren't the ones that couldn't defend themselves. "I told him that he needed to send me a message if he is late because I really need to prepare for these kinds of situations. He nodded his head but he flinched at me…and I can see the pain in his eyes. Zero never flinches at me. Never."

Kaien smiled but the blonde knew her father's real smiles from his fake smiles, and the smile on his face was the one that he used to reassure her that things were fine. Was he going to lie to her like he did when she was a child? He would put on a bright smile and tell her that ghosts didn't exist, even though Naruto swore that spirits haunted these grounds. Was he going to tell her that everything was fine? Because those feelings that radiated from Zero did not scream that he was fine.

"I will look into it, Naru-chan," her father said, giving her a smile. "You shouldn't worry about Zero. You know how he can be and I'm sure that there is nothing for you to worry about."

Naruto shook her head. "Dad, do you really think I'm like Yuuki? I have been observing Zero for some time now and I know that something is affecting him. I also know that there is something about him that is different but I just can't put my finger on it. In fact, it feels like he is keeping secrets from Yuuki and me, which is weird because he never hides things from us. Hell, he is more open to Yuuki then to me but it feels like he is closing himself off again."

She leaned forward and placed her hand against her chin before looking out at the moon. Despite the fact, Zero was the same age as her, it was Yuuki that seemed to have his attention. If he gave her one word then he would give five more words to Yuuki, but then again her sister wasn't like her. There was a light in her that hadn't been diminished. There was still something about her that made people want to protect her and it didn't help that she was very pretty.

"Are you jealous of their bond?" Her father teased.

"My bond with them is different from their bond," Naruto looked out at the window. "I'm happy that they are close but I'm just concern about the pain that Zero is in. I don't like feeling his pain and I don't like the fact that he isn't willing to talk to anyone about it. I know for a fact that Yuuki hadn't noticed, not when she has a very low attention span. Of course, her mooning over Kuran isn't helping her."

Her father sighed. "My dear Naru-chan, are you telling me that you have never fallen for the charms of one of my cute vampires? I could remember the days where you would follow them around. In fact, I distinctly recall that my cute daughter even declared to me that she was going to marry one of them."

Naruto felt her cheeks heating up at her father's words and wished not for the first time for the ground to swallow her up. Did he really have to remind her of just how silly she used to be? She was just thirteen years old and the boys were more gorgeous than any boy that she had ever seen. It was only natural that she began to develop an infatuation towards one of them, but it went away. She learnt the truth when she saw their true nature. She learnt the truth when she saw what those fangs could really do to a person.

"I was a little girl that didn't know any better, Father," Naruto kept her tone even. "What do I know about love? I thought because they look pretty that I must be in love with them. Besides, I caught one of your cute vampires sucking the blood out of someone I cared for. How can I still be in love with a vampire when I see that they nearly sucked the life out of my friend? That was the day I realized just how different our worlds were."

"It still doesn't change the fact that you screamed it to me!"

"I was twelve years old," Naruto muttered, covering her face with her hands. "You can't hold that against me! Also, please don't ever declare those words to Zero and Yuuki!"

Her father laughed. "And have you beat me for telling them the truth?"

"You do know that I only do that to you when you embarrass me or when you take things too far with Zero," Naruto folded her arms against her chest. "Sometimes I think you enjoy watching Zero become angry because why else would you try to make him protect those vampires? I don't know what the hell were you thinking by making Zero a prefect when all he wants to do is murder them. It is a miracle that he hadn't tried to kill any of them."

Her father didn't say anything but Naruto could tell from his raised eyebrow that he was comparing to Zero to her. He knew that she had no love for vampires, not after what happened to her friend but she had never tried to harm them. If anything, she protected them to the best of her ability and she tried her hardest not to let her emotions cloud her judgement. Yet, there were times when it was hard but Naruto was willing to forget it as long as her father was happy. It probably didn't help that her pain was only a stab wound while Zero's pain was like several stab wounds that didn't seem to heal.

She shook her head and stared at the photo of her three-year-old self hugging her father tightly. She didn't remember much but Naruto recalled how her father had swung her so high that she felt like she was flying. She could recall how her father kept reassuring her that there was no one following them, even though she swore she saw a pale figure watching them. She smiled before glancing at the headband that was proudly displayed in her father's office.

It was a headband that had been in his office for as long as Naruto could remember. It was a dirty old thing that didn't seem to fit in with the numerous artefacts that her father placed in her office, yet it was the only constant thing in his office. For some reason, her Dad had never decided to put it away. One time, she had tried to hide it from him as a joke but her father hadn't been amused. He had gotten so angry with her when he found out about her prank and it made her wonder what the big deal was.

She stared at the headband and then to her father. Would he tell her the answer if she asked? Or would he change the subject like he did whenever she asked about her mother? She hoped not. She wanted to know why he was so attached to that dirty headband and why he would never dare remove it from this office.

"Father, I have to ask…"

Her words were drowned out by the door being slammed open Scowling, Naruto twisted her head around and sighed when she saw her brother stomping towards her father with Yuuki trailing behind him. Why now? Why couldn't they have come later? She wanted to find a reason for her father to remove that headband from his nice office. She wanted to know why he kept clinging to that headband even though it was old.

"This is silly!" Her brother snarled, slamming his hands on the table as he loomed over her old man. "How the hell do you expect the three of us to guard the bloodsuckers and deal with screaming idiots! Chairman-san!"

Her father sighed and glanced at her, giving her the silent message that they would have to talk another day. They would need to deal with a cranky Zero, who looked ready to murder her father for the responsibilities that he handed them. She could understand her brother's anger but still, it would be nice if he could last a day without complaining.

"I know it is difficult for you three to deal with this responsibility but Naruto spent one year doing her job without complaining," her father stated, smiling at her brother. "Your sister spent a whole year dealing with my cute vampires and those girls but not once did she come here and tell me that it was impossible."

"And Naruto is great at her job even if she sometimes give those screaming idiots some leeway," the said blonde bit her lips from arguing with her foster brother about his comment. "But she is going to graduate in a year time, Chairman-san, and so we will need someone to do her job when she is gone because Yuki is worse then useless."

Yuuki flushed red at his words. "I'm not taking this from someone who is constantly late and I'm the only one who seems to come on time, because there are times where Naruto is late for her duty."

"That is because I help the teachers out and I'm the captain of the Volleyball team," Naruto reminded her sister. "I want you to try juggling schoolwork with perfect duties with club duties." Along with nightmares and ghosts, she added silently as she stared at the ghost that constantly followed her around. The ghost had been there for as long as she could remember but the blonde had never been able to talk to the ghost.

She kept her eyes fixed on the ghost as her father spoke about the importance of finding balance like she did. There was something about the ghost that seemed familiar to her but Naruto didn't know what. She didn't know why the ghost kept following her nor could she understand why the ghost always seemed sad whenever she saw her. She knew if she told her father about the ghost that he would tell her that she was making things up and she knew that the ghost could never tell her why she followed her. She knew that because the ghost couldn't talk. She knew she should tell her father about the nightmares of the nine-tailed fox who had pierced a red-haired woman's gut and the man, who looked like he could be related to her.

Now that she thought about it, the ghost looked a lot like the red-haired woman.

Was there a connection between the ghost and the woman in her dream? She flickered her eyes towards her father and Yuuki, who were discussing about her schoolwork. No, there couldn't be a connection to her dream. It was just her stupid imagination because there was no such thing as a nine-tailed fox. Still, it was odd that she had been dreaming the same thing for the past thirteen years. Not once had those dreams ever changed.

"I know you always get good grades and do your homework on time," Yuuki muttered. "Everyone keeps pointing out the fact that it makes sense for you to be a prefect and not Zero or I."

"It took me a while to get there," Naruto smiled at her sister. "I struggled the first few weeks trying to find a balance but then I realized that certain activities had to be cancelled. You are lucky that you have Zero to help you with your schoolwork and you know that if you don't understand anything then you can ask me. The habit of letting the screaming fangirls get what they want was just one way I had to learn how to deal with them, since I didn't have Zero with me. Besides, you will get good grades, you are very smart."

Her sister flushed red at her praise while her father squealed, causing the blonde to pinch her nose and glare at her father. Not today. She was not in the mood to deal with this. Kaien whittled at her glare and the blonde immediately felt bad for him, but then she just need to recall the amount of times, her friends mocked her for his behaviour and it went away. She shook her head and stared at her siblings, trying to recall the main reason that they were here.

Oh right, they wanted more help.

"I'm going to go back to the main topic: more prefects," Naruto said cheerfully, looking up at the ceiling. "Father can't hire more prefects because no one fits the bill. They can have the perfect the organization skills and the perfect grades, but they won't be able to become prefects since they don't know the truth. Now we can tell them that their precious Night Class students are vampires but it is just too risky. They might make their lives harder and discriminate them or they will laugh at us…so we can't have that. If we need someone then we will need someone that we can trust with this huge secret and currently we don't have that."

"I couldn't say any better myself," her father took a deep breath. "To add to that, your job is a thankless job with long hours, sleepless nights and little respect. No one with the right mindset would take this job, I had to beg your older sister to do it."

"You just had to cry and I listen to you," Naruto grumbled. "I just want to live a normal life."

"Even if I hadn't cried, I knew you would have done the job eventually," her father said cheerfully. "I know that my adorable daughters and loving son won't let me down."

Naruto groaned and glanced at her brother, whose eyebrows were twitching at their father's words. Five…Four…Three…Two…One. Just like that, her baby brother slammed his hand on the table and split the oak table into half. She raised her eyebrows at her father and wondered if he liked making Zero furious. He shrugged his shoulders, which made her groan. One day. Just one day, could he not push Zero's buttons? Would it kill him to keep Zero calm? Now, he was going to be a pain in the ass when she went to patrol.

"You might have taken care of me but I don't remember becoming your son."

Kaien opened his mouth to answer him but Naruto glared at her father, causing the man to shut the hell up. She smiled at him before standing up from her seat and making her way towards her two foster siblings. She slung her arms around her two siblings, leaning her head against her sister's shoulder. Yuuki raised her eyebrow but the blonde just closed her eyes and allowed her headache to throb against her head. In the corner of her eyes, she could see Zero raising his eyebrow at her.

"As long as the Night Class students don't bite anyone then everything is ok, right Yuki?"

The brown-haired girl nodded her head in agreement. "Yes, I even think the Night Class seems to be getting really well with the others."

"We only have a few flight risks but other than that they are fine," Naruto grumbled, recalling the number of times where she had to get Kuran to erase the memories of the victims and punish those stupid vampires. "I swear those vampires are going to be the reason that the secret is going to come out. If you only get rid of them then everything will be smooth-flying."

"They are just the exceptions and nothing happened, even when that happens…I'm happy to help."

"I'm glad that you don't feel annoyed because I feel annoyed at their antics," she closed her eyes. "I know our lives would be so much easier if we didn't have to deal with them or watch them constantly kiss that asshole's ass."

Her father cried out at her words. "Why doesn't my eldest daughter and elder son understand! It seems like only Yuki is the only one who truly understands my pacifist idealism!"

Oh boy, here it comes, Naruto thought wearily as she watched with a blank expression as her father get into one of his dramatic moments again. They were getting more and more frequent, which was a surprise since she didn't know how they could get anymore frequent. It must be a sign that she was destined to never have a normal life. Not that she did have one considering who her father was and the fact she didn't like the idea of being normal. Especially considering, what she knew. Knowing about vampires just guaranteed that there's very little chance of having a normal life.

"…I'm going on patrol. This nut is all yours, Yuuki, Naruto." Zero said, snapping her from her thoughts. She watched her younger brother as he left the room, flinching at the sound of the door being slammed. A glance to Yuki told her of her annoyance with Zero's behaviour, which caused Naruto to smile. The younger girl wouldn't stay annoyed with Zero for long.

The girl could never stay annoyed with anyone for long.

"If you excuse me Father, I'm also going to do the patrols," Naruto said, flashing them a smile. "After all, today is the day Yuki can get a break from duties and do all the homework that she has due tomorrow."

Yuki looked put down at her words while Kaien simply laughed at her words, nodding in agreement before sprouting nonsense about how lucky Yuki and Zero were, for having a loving sister like Naruto. This only got said blonde to sigh and shot her sister an apologetic look before rushing out of the door, ready to start her patrols for the night.

"Y'know Zero, if you want Yuki to like you, you should start by not teasing her like that," Naruto peered down at the ground before glancing at her younger adopted brother. "It might give her the wrong message about how you feel about her because at the rate you're going, she is starting to think that you hate her…when we both know that your feelings are anything but hate. Honestly, I think you should tell her about what you feel towards her."

Zero grunted and glared at her but Naruto could only smile at her foster brother, who glared even harder at her. She raised her eyebrow before looking down at the ground, where there were no Day Class student in sight. Were they going to be lucky today? Could they actually have a day where no one broke the rules? Did this mean that she could spend more time trying to convince her baby brother to confess his feelings to her sister? Wow, it sounded wrong in her head even though Yuki and Zero weren't related to each other.

Then again, they were raised in the same household so was that considered incest?

She stole a glance at Zero, who had his eyes fixed on the Night Class students, and then glanced at Kananme, who didn't seem to be paying much attention to his teacher. What was so great about him? Why did her sister think she was in love with him? There was nothing about him that made her think he was a great catch. He might be smart but there was something about him that made her think that he was capable of being cruel to her sister. Then again, Naruto supported the idea of Yuki getting together with Zero then Kaname.

She wished she could tell her sister to wake up and see that the perfect man was right beside her but Naruto knew her sister. She knew Yuuki would tell her that she was dreaming and that Zero didn't like her in that way. Her sister would then go on and say that she liked Zero as a brother, which was wrong because Naruto had never seen their relationship in that way.

She also knew that Yuuki would feel torn between them and she didn't want her sister to focus on her relationship when they had their duties to deal with.

"I never asked you Naruto but do you truly think that the members of the Night Class are truly pacifist?" Zero asked her, snapping her from her train of thought. "I know Yuuki think they are and the same goes for your father but you have never talked about your thoughts."

"Yuki have those thoughts because Kaname saved her from a vampire, so she thinks that most vampires are like him," Naruto flickered her eyes to Takuma, who seemed to be reading the manga that she lent him. "But I don't think like that. There are vampires that are pacifist but there are vampires out there that are just itching to suck the blood out of these students. The only reason that they hadn't done anything is because Kuran is controlling them…so no."

"I would have thought that his biological daughter would think the same."

"There was a point in my life, where I thought like Yuuki," Naruto admitted. "But I got to do this job and I realized that not everything is what it seems. I have the same hope as my father and Yuki but I'm going to be more realistic about it. Yuki would be more realistic too if Kuran hadn't saved her from the vampire and kept visiting her, which keeps fueling her lovesick mind. Honestly, the bastard should stay away from her. He is never going to be good enough for her, not when he emits those emotions."

Zero narrowed his eyes. "Emotions?"

"Can't you see those emotions that radiate in his eyes?" She jerked her finger to the vampire. "The vampire just radiates anger, hatred and bloodlust. It would be a matter of time before he tries to suck Yuki's blood. Out of every human that surrounds him, his bloodlust gets really strong around her. Why do you think I deal with him? Why do you think I never let Yuki near him? I am never going to take the chance that he would try to drain the life out of her and make her a vampire. No one deserves the fate of becoming a vampire…being human is the best thing in the world."

Being human meant that she would never have to worry about sucking the blood of someone she loved. She liked the idea of having control of her urges and not watching her friends die before her.

The sound of people's loud whispering snapped her from her thoughts and Naruto glanced down, sighing when she caught sight of three Day Class students lurking around. With a shake of her head, Naruto jumped down from the ledge, clutched the tree branch, doing a hip circle before landing down on the ground like a cat.

"You three! I want you to tell me your name and class!" Naruto barked, rubbing the dust off her school uniform as she looked at the three girls peeking from under the bushes. "The school rules prohibits wandering around after dark and we didn't put in there for no reason! It's very dangerous to wander around here, so you better scoot and head to your dorms. Tomorrow, you will have detention with Hibari-sensei."

"What the hell is your problem Naruto-chan? We just came to take photos of the night class students! There's nothing wrong with it."

There's a lot of things wrong with it, the Night Class students are dangerous, Naruto thought, analyzing the three students to see if there were any injuries on them. Thankfully, none of them had any injuries.

"There's a lot of wrong things about what you're doing," Naruto said stiffly as she grabbed the girls by their sleeves and started to drag them away from the building. "One, what you're doing is an invasion of privacy, secondly, you're breaking the rules and thirdly it's nearly midnight! It's time for you guys to go sleep."

"But!"

"No buts! I'm tired and if you say anything now, I'll consider sending you to Zero and let him deal with you. Now take your pick, do you want to deal with me? Or do you want to deal with Zero, who'll be in an even worse mood then me?"

The three of them glanced at each other and pointed at her. She nodded her head and gestured for them to be in front of her. They gulped but did as she asked though reluctantly but still they did as she asked, which was better than some students, who ignored her orders. She took in a deep breath, glanced at the Night Class students for the last time, frowning when she saw that one of the students weren't in class.

Where the hell was Takuma?

Great, she needed to know where the vampire was but she couldn't leave these girls alone. Not when they would be vulnerable to those vampires and she couldn't call Zero, not when he would be so pissed with them. She wished that these girls had been smart and decided to stay in their dorms, where they could gossip and dream about their crush. Shit. Couldn't this have happened tomorrow? It would have been Yuki's turn to patrol.

Maybe it was time for her to let Zero deal with these idiots while she went and deal with Takuma. She twisted her whole body to tell the girls that they were going to be sent to Zero, but felt her whole body stiffened. Twisting her body around, she posed herself into her fighting stance and groaned when the girls squealed. Why did she have to be the one to find them? Why couldn't Zero have find them? Her brother would have made sure that they were too terrified to even squeal.

"Calm down Naru-chan, I'm not here to fight you," Takuma said cheerfully. "So can you please relax?"

"It's Takuma-senpai." The girls whispered, blushing furiously as the vampire walked towards them.

"I will relax when you tell me why you aren't in class!" Naruto said as she glared at her classmates, who flinched at her glare. "Is there anything that Kuran wants? Or are you skipping class again?"

"Are you accusing me of not being the most diligent student?" Takuma pouted and the blond-haired girl raised her eyebrow at him, causing him to laugh. "I just skip class a few times and you think I'm the worse student, but to answer your question: Kaname doesn't want anything in particular."

She grimaced. "Then why did he send you here? And don't go into the bullshit about how Kaname hadn't send you because your wording implies the opposite."

"We heard those girls screams and Kaname wanted me to check it out," Takuma answered but the blonde had a feeling that there was more to the story. She stared at him for a good couple of seconds and frowned when she recognized an unknown emotion in his eyes. What was he feeling? Why did it feel like that there was more to the story? She licked her lips and glanced at her classmates, who kept flickering their eyes from Takuma to her.

She shook her head. "Tell Kuran that I have everything handled and that I'm more than capable of doing my job without any of his 'friends' help. I will also like it if you can tell the asshole that our job is to deal with troublemakers."

Takuma nodded but he didn't turn his body around to go back to class. If anything the vampire was taking a couple of steps towards her and the blond-haired girl glanced at her classmates, who kept babbling about how they finally get to see him up close in person. Could they keep quiet? Could they not understand that even Takuma was dangerous? He might be gorgeous but it didn't change the fact that he was still a creature of the night.

"You know that we also want to help you, don't you Naru-chan?" Takuma asked her, stopping till they were only a few meters away from each other. "I can tell from looking at you that you are exhausted from your patrol. I can deal with these girls while you can get some rest."

Her heart throbbed at his words and for just a brief moment, she almost felt like that maybe Takuma actually did care for her. For just a brief moment, she thought that maybe the vampire actually did have the capability to do what he said. Yet as she stared at him, Naruto recalled the last vampire that she trusted and all her consideration evaporated. She couldn't let him do her duty for her nor could she allow him the chance of being alone with these girls. He might be the nicest vampire but he still had those urges, and there was no chance that she would let him give into those urges. She wanted to be able to look at him and not compare him to the other vampires. She wanted to trust him, and the only way was to do this.

"I will be fine," Naruto answered softly, twisting her body away from him. "I will take these girls to Father and then I will go to sleep, since our patrol is going to end soon."

"You are going to drop from the exhaustion."

"I will survive, Takuma-senpai," she forced herself to walk away from the vampire. "This isn't the first time that I felt exhausted during my patrol and it won't be the last. Thank you for offering to help me but if you really want to help me then return my manga back to me and go back to class. If you don't return my manga then you can forget the idea of borrowing manga from me ever again."

"I will only give it back if you give me the next volume!" He called out to her.

Naruto felt her lips twitched at his words but she didn't dare to look back at him. This was not the time for her to think that there was a chance of her becoming good friends with him. This was not the time where she could feel herself weakening by his words. She shouldn't even feel happy that he was concern about her health. He might be the kindest vampire that she knew and maybe even the prettiest one, but he was still dangerous. He might act human, at times, but he still lusted for blood.

In the end of the day, he was still a follower of his instinct and would kill so many people because of said instinct. You could never find a vampire that could last long without drinking blood, a vampire that didn't drink blood was a vampire that would sooner or later break. It was only natural for them to drink blood as it was their instinct to do it.

She wondered if it was stupid of her to imagine a day where she would never ever have to live with that fear.

Naruto frowned as she walked through the sewer that seemed to be never-ending, looking as if it could stretched on forever. She didn't know how she got here. All she remembered was taking a nap while the teacher talked about the electronic configuration and how they were suppose to write it down. There was no explanation on how she could go from sleeping in the chair during lesson to coming to some sewer that didn't have any disgusting smells except for something burning, which makes no sense since there was water here.

She stopped walking when she caught sight of huge prision bars and her whole heart stopped beating at the sight of a familiar fox with nine-tails. What the hell was going on here? Why the hell was there a giant fox in here? Was this a dream? No, it had to be a dream because she was sure that people would notice if there was a huge fox in the sewers, especially one with that many tails. Still, why was it in a cage? Wasn't it just cruel to put an animal in a cage? It was just sickening. Yet, there was something about this fox that just made her quiver in fear, something about it that just made her sweat. She felt as if she should know it.

"So my jailor has finally graced me with her presence after seventeen years," the fox grumbled, staring down at her. She blinked her eyes again and again as she tried to make sense of what was happening to her. First off, she woke up to find herself in a sewer and followed the burning smell, only to find a fox with nine-tails in a cage. Not only did the fox had nine-tails but it could also talk. Now, she was no animal expert but she was certain that foxes don't speak a human language. Although, foxes were small and didn't have a human upper body while this fox did. Hell, it was bigger then the school building and yet it could fit a sewer.

What the hell was happening?

"What do you mean jailor? I've never been to prison before or work in one before, which means I'm not your jailor! And why am I asking this, I need to find a way back to school before Tou-san panics and do something stupid!" Naruto cried out, bitting her lips. "I know I shouldn't have fallen asleep though I've no clue on how I got here!"

"You're truly are your mother's daughter," The fox stated, looking at her as if she was somekind of idiot. "We're in your mind, gaki and I'm the great Kyuubi."

Naruto blinked her eyes. "You knew my mother? How the hell did you know her? Tell me what was she like? Father doesn't tell me about her. Also, what's a Kyuubi? It can't possibly be your name!"

"Of course I know your mother, she was my jailor before you," The Kyuubi grumbled, glaring at her as if it was her fault her mother had also been his jailor. Not that it was because she couldn't have possibly done anything for her mother to become a jailor. "And no, I won't tell you about your mother. I'm not someone you can order around! I'm stronger then you! More powerful then you can ever hope to be! I've destroyed villages with a swipe of my tail! And I won't tell you my name, you haven't earned it!"

Naruto tilted her head. "If you're so strong then why are you in my mind? Surely if you're strong then it'll be easy for you to get out of the cage."

"Because it was your father who sealed me in you! It was him who sealed me inside of you with the help of your mother!" The Kyuubi roared, glaring at her and Naruto blinked her eyes at this news. Father? Her father would tell her if he had sealed a demon inside of her. After all, he didn't keep secrets from her. He had taken care of her and would tell him how her mother died that was why she didn't ask because she thought he would tell her.

She thought he would tell her something this big.

"My father didn't seal you inside of me! He would tell me if he had done something like that!"

"You mean that pathetic man who rants about you being cute? That man isn't your biological father," Naruto shook her head furiosly at this and the fox laughed at her. "You know it is the truth after all he never talks about your mother even though you ask him. You don't have anything in common with your appearance! You have known it all along!"

Naruto opened her mouth to protest, to tell him that he was wrong but couldn't find it in herself to tell him that he was wrong. The fox was right. She had known for a long time Kaien wasn't her father. She knew by the way she never saw pictures of her mother or any woman with her father. She knew because she didn't look like her father.

"How the hell do you know these things about me? How did you know that I know Tou-san isn't my biological father?"

The fox snorted. "I've been apart of your life since the day you were born! I know everything about you like how you used to be jealous of your little sister for having your father's attention. I know how you hated that vampire visiting and how he only paid attention to Yuki but never to you, even though you were prettier then her. I know of the ghost that you keep seeing and how curious you are to know who she is." Naruto gulped at this and the fox continued. "I know how close you were to killing one of the vampires after you found him sucking the blood of one of your friends. I knew how it torn you apart because you thought vampires were like what your father claimed them to be. You were so close to tapping into my powers, only for that vampire to save you. Till this day, you've no idea on how to act around him. You don't know whether to hate for what he is and for what his kind did to your adopted brother as well as listening to Kuran, or to like him because he saved you from doing something that could have broken your heart!"

"I don't know what the hell you're talking about!" Naruto snarled. "You shut your pipehole! I'm not grateful to that vampire and I don't hate him. He saved me once and that was it. It wasn't his kind that hurt Zero but Kaname's kind that did it. It was a pureblood that murdered Zero's family, not the aristocrats!"

"It doesn't change the fact that you hate his guts for following Kuran!"

"Shut the hell up you damn fox!" Naruto yelled, blinking her eyes when she saw that she was back in her classroom. She flushed red when she saw the shocked expression on the teacher's face, which soon melted away into an expression of anger. Some of the students were giggling at her, looking amused that she had said that to the teacher, while the others looked shock that she had dared say that to the teacher.

"Cross-san! You'll have detention for sleeping in class and yelling at me to shut up! I'll be having a word with your father about this," The teacher hissed, giving her a disapproving looks while the other students snickered at her bad fortune. Naruto simply sighed, not bothering to tell the teacher that she wasn't telling him to shut up but the fox.

There was no way that the teacher would believe that and Naruto couldn't believe what happened so for now, she was going to pretend that it didn't happen. She was going to pretend that none of these things happened.

Because there was no way her biological parents would put a fox into her mind or the fact that her father would hide the fact that they weren't really related to each other. Until, she heard her father admit the truth then she would pretend that none of these things happened.
