I just wanted to start by thanking you all for the support you have shown this story. The number of favourites, follows, and reviews this little idea of mine has received is incredible and really heartwarming.
I had to take a break to focus on uni work and then that break just became longer and longer until two years had passed. I got stuck in a writing slump for a very long time but Mara's story was always ticking over in the back of my mind and trying to work itself out for me. A couple of months ago, I sat down at my laptop and began to write again. I wrote a series of scenes in Mara's life (things that happened before the start of 'Amateurs at War' with Mara's family, scenes set during the story between Mara and her friends and Bellamy - scenes that might never even see the light of day - and scenes set after the story ends) and I was inspired to pick this back up again.
But, I wasn't happy with the first nine chapters so I edited them a bit and tidied up the grammar and reposted them. However, that didn't even make me happy with them. I sat down with my laptop again and I started planning out what changes were needed to make me happy with the direction Mara's story was going. I think I've done that now. There are going to be a lot of changes (some big, and some small) but the core of the story is still going to be the same. I love Mara, and I wanted to respect where her journey was taking her.
The updated version of the story is now up and is still called 'Amateurs at War' (and can be found on my page), and I hope you enjoy Mara's second outing as much as the first.
