When she called me "Mister," I realized just how young Lucy really is. I do not see Lucy with lustful or unclean intentions. She reached out to me with kindness and wisdom beyond her years.
I finally acknowledge the prisoner next to me. It's Lucy's brother. I have to believe she's alright.
The only thing preventing me from drowning in self-loathing is the hope of looking into her eyes once more. I'll never deserve the reward of one day becoming Lucy's husband, but it's a dream I'll dare to dream.
This dank cell's darkness just became a little more bearable.
