He leaves straight after, going back to the dormitory 'for a rest', as he tells Lee (who is currently dancing wildly with a pretty blonde Beauxbatons girl.) He exits from all the loud noises and good crowd, catching glimpses of familiar people as he pushes toward the doorway (which proves to be hard) – Montague, the Slytherin Quidditch captain, dancing with Pansy Parkinson, Cho Chang with Cedric Diggory (he grunts unpleasantly at the sight of the Hufflepuff Quidditch Captain), even his own sister, Ginny, wincing as Neville trod on her foot for the umpteenth time.
(Even she's smiling, through the meager twinges of pain)
Back at the dormitory, he takes out Fred's early Christmas present to him. It is a fun mirror – the kind Muggles have, those that deform your reflection. The note said: Now you know who the uglier twin is! xP Merry Christmas! -Fred.
He stares at the image of him – his face is too long, and his nose round, like a button.
(Is this how she sees him?)
"Stop it," he tells himself firmly. "Angelina Johnson is Fred's property. She's his. She's out of bounds."
The door creaks open.
