The wall slide back and Cain stepped into Princess DG room. It was in the dead of night and she was asleep. He had found the secret passage not too long after the Queen had moved everyone into the palace. He was very surprised that DG hadn't found it yet.
Walking across the dark room, Cain could see the Princess in the bed. Sitting down on the edge of the bed, the Tin Man watched her sleep. He had been doing this almost every night for months.
He did it for two reasons. The first one was to make sure she was safe in her room at night. Okay so that was pure bull, but it made him feel better. The second one was more because he loved to watch her.
Cain couldn't explain any of this. He felt very strongly about this woman. He might call her Kid, but she was no way a kid. He was still sad about Adora's death, but had all these feelings for DG that even he couldn't get through them all.
Moonlight streamed in through the window and made DG look like she was glowing. Cain liked that the most. Her natural beauty was highlighted more.
He had been there about ten minutes and knew he had to get back to his room and get some sleep. He hated to leave her again. Though he knew he would see her when the suns raised in the morning. It made him smile.
