The green rope

[Oneshot]

It was a rainy day, but Sally Jackson never mind that. The water just reminds her of...him. Not even going to lie, that person is Poseidon - Greek god of the ocean. She was on her way to pick up her son, Percy Jackson from daycare. As ususal. She didn't even think to carry an umbrella with her.

Little did she know, from that moment on, her son's life would never be safe again.

Sally checked her watch, six o'clock. She was last parent to pick up her kid. Everybody else hired nannies that pick their kids up at about three. Although Sally knew that was too expensive. She only just had enough to survive with the money from candy shop. And not even to mention her husband, Gabe.

No. I have to do this for Percy. She reminded herself. Then she made herself swear once more she'll come through with it.

I just hope he can survive for most of his life. Sally thought as she knocked on the door.

She did not recognize the face that answered the door. Must be a new trainee. She hated having her kid left alone with somebody new and inresponsible, but what choice did she have?

"Hello." The woman smiled, showing off her yellow teeth and tossing her yellow-ish hair. "You must be here to pick up Perry! Oh, he has done so well today, and also -" She kept on blabbing on about how "Perry" did.

Dispite the fact the woman got her son's name completely wrong, Sally wasn't focusing on that. Percy was holding something green that looked sort of like a rope. He was strangling it, and crushing it under his little toddler shoes. But the rope seemed to be moving, as if it was a...

"Snake!" Sally suddenly screamed.

The trainee's smile faded. "Excuse me?"

"There's a snake in my son's cot!" Sally yelled, dropping her bag onto the ground and scooped Percy up. Then Percy immediately started crying.

"Mummy!" He said.

Sally turned to the woman. "How dare you let a snake get into -"

She shrugged. "Well, no harm done. And it looks like the snake is strangled by your son Perry anyways." Then, her voice lowered even though there were nobody else around.

"I was just preparing him for the future."

Sally almost choked. With anger and with tears. What if Percy was really killed by the snake? Poisoned? She promised herself she'd have to sooner or later complain about the daycare. But for now, she just grabbed her handbag and walked outside, directly into the rain.

"Percy, I'm so sorry. I didn't realize how dangerous your life would be. I have been too careless." She whispered.

But something else came up into her mind. The woman, who did not even say sorry.

I was just preparing him for the future.

The voice echoed around in her head until she got to the door of her apartment.

"Mummy!" Percy had stopped crying. "A big snake was here today! I kill it!"

She stared at Percy as if she didn't know what to think of him.

"Yes. You killed it! And you are going to become somebody even greater one day!" She smiled. Suddenly she wasn't mad anymore. Maybe it was a good thing Percy got practice. Then she began opening the door of their place.

"Sally! Where have you been? I've been waiting for that bean dip forever!" Gabe yelled the moment she walked in.

Ususally, Sally would feel upset. But today, somehow she managed a smile.

"Is your son the future president or something? What took you so long?" Gabe complained.

"No, he is not the president." Sally said sweetly. Gabe frowned, raising both his eyebrows.

"He is something more. Way more."

I suddenly got this idea out of nowhere. And I typed it in about twenty minutes. But I'd still like some reviews as well. ENJOY!
