Sam couldn't stop thinking about Rachel.
He didn't want them to end. She was the best thing that ever happened to him, other than Avatar of course.
Sam looked over at the clock. It was 4:00am. Graduation was in a few hours and he hadn't gotten any sleep. He leaned over to his bed side table and picked up the little black box. The engagement ring. Sam had planned to propose to Rachel after graduation. But, maybe Rachel was right. They couldn't stay together. She would be in New York, while he was still in Lima. And there was no way they could get married now. He put the box back on the table and went to sleep.
"Sam. Sam, wake up" he heard. He opened his eyes
"Rachel? How did you get in here?"
"Your mom let me in. We need to talk"
Sam sat up, and Rachel sat beside him.
"I love you. So much. And, I realized that I don't want this to end. So, I'm going to stay in Lima. Then after college, we can figure it all out. I'm not ready to say goodbye. I never was. But, I thought I had no choice. And when I was packing last night, all I could think about was you" Rachel said
"I can't let you give up your dream, Rachel"
"My dream is you" She leaned in and kissed him softly.
"I love you Sam"
"Close your eyes" Sam whispered. Rachel gave him a confused look, but did what he said.
Sam leaned over and got the box. "This is it" he thought to himself
"Open"
Rachel opened her eyes and immediately saw the box.
"Sam…"
"Rachel Barbra Berry. Will you marry me?"
Rachel eyes filled with tears. She couldn't speak. She nodded her head yes, and he slipped the ring on her finger.
"I love you Rachel"
