The Story of Us

I used to think one day we'd tell the story of us,

How we met

And the sparks flew instantly

And people would say they're the lucky ones

"You going to sit next to him?"

I used to know my place was a spot next to you.

Now I'm searching the room for an empty seat.

Cause lately I don't even know what page you're on.

"No, let's go sit over there." I gestured to an empty seat over by Stark.

"What happened between you guys?" Aphrodite asked.

Oh a simple complication,

Miscommunications lead to fallout.

So many things I wish you knew,

So many walls up that I can't break through.

"Oh, nothing. He just never let me in." I shrugged.

"Oh." She said.

"Yeah. He hasn't talked to me in a while." I said, looking down.

Now I'm standing alone in a crowded room.

And we're not speaking,

And I'm dying to know,

Is it killing you?

Like it's killing me?

Yeah.

I don't know what to say since a twist of fate, when it all broke down.

And the story of us looks a lot like a tragedy know.

Next chapter.

We sat down by Stark and she didn't talk about it anymore. I tried to think back to what went wrong, but all I could remember was being alone.

How'd we end up this way?

See me nervously pulling at my clothes and trying to look busy.

And you're doing your best to avoid me.

I'm starting to think one day I'll tell the story of us.

Of how I was losing my mind when I saw you here,

But you held your pride like you should have held me.

Oh I'm scared to see the ending, why are we pretending this is nothing?

I'd tell you I miss you, but I don't know how.

I've never heard silence quite this loud.

"He doesn't look too happy you're sitting next to me."

My head shot up and my eyes met Erik's. So many emotions went through my mind before it settled on one. Anger.

This is looking like a contest,

Of who can act like they care less,

But I liked it better when you were on my side.

The battle's in your hands now,

But I would lay my armor down

If you say you'd rather love than fight.

So many things I wish you knew,

But the story of us might be ending soon.

"I don't care what he thinks. He's the one who ended it with me." My hands balled up into fists and I could feel the tears well up in my eyes, threatening to spill over.

Now, Now, Now

And we're not speaking

And I'm dying to know is it killing you like its killing me?

And I don't know what to say since a twist of fate, cause we're going down,

And the story of us looks a lot like a tragedy now

I felt something wipe away a stray tear. I looked over at Stark and saw him looking at me.

"Are you ok Zoey?" he said, concern layering his voice.

I took one more look at Erik, and took a deep breath.

"Yes, I will be." I said, and very confidently reached for his hand and laced my fingers through his.

I somehow knew that this was going to be from now on.

The End.
