My first ever My Little Pony fanfic. I hope that it's able to do the epicness that is MLP: FIM justice. R&R!

Sister Troubles

"Sweetie Belle! What did I tell you about helping me?" Rarity demanded as her younger sister tried yet again to be helpful, despite Rarity having told her at least a thousand times in the past, and not just on that particular day, not to help. Sweetie Belle always did the exact opposite of what she intended when it came to Rarity's boutique. She got in the way and messed things up, instead.

"To just… stand over there," Sweetie Belle groaned, trotting back to the corner that Rarity had recently designated as the 'Sweetie Bell corner', as that was where she always sent Sweetie Bell. "Rarity, why can't I help you?"

"You know why, Sweetie Belle," Rarity replied tartly, eyes never once leaving the bit of fabric that she was stitching. "Every time you try to help, something goes wrong. Remember when you set be back big time with the gold silk?"

"That wasn't me trying to help, that was me making capes for my friends!" Sweetie Belle protested.

"After I specifically told you not to touch my stuff," Rarity reminded her. "And shortly before that, you were running around trying to help, knocking everything but what you were trying to get over!"

"Oh yeah, I forgot that part," Sweetie Belle murmured, glancing down at her hooves.

"Anyways, why must you always wait for your friends to meet up with you here?" Rarity asked. "I thought you had a clubhouse now, thanks to Applejack."

"But that's all the way off at Sweet Apple Acres. We want to hang out in town at the moment, so it's faster to meet up here," Sweetie Belle explained.

Rarity groaned in annoyance. "Well why not wait for them outside instead of sitting in here distracting me?"

"Because I want to help you, Rarity! I wanna be just like you some day!" Sweetie Belle replied cheerfully. "I want to get my cutie mark in sewing or something!"

Rarity's head met with her work, the sewing machine stopping as it did so.

"What's wrong sis?" Sweetie Belle asked.

"Just go wait for your friends outside!" came Rarity's muffled yell from between her face and the table containing the dress she was currently working on.

"Why are you more determined than ever to get rid of me today?" Sweetie Belle questioned. She and Rarity had more or less been having that conversation for most of the day.

"My reasons are my own, now shoo!" Rarity demanded. Sweetie Belle knew that tone of voice that her sister sometimes used, and scuttled out the door.

Rarity sighed when she was certain that sweetie Belle was gone. Now she could finally work on the dress properly. She didn't want Sweetie Belle to spoil everything, like her sister tended to do sometimes.

Then she remembered all of the good times that they had had, like when she and Sweetie Belle had competed together in the Sisterhooves contest. Sweetie Belle had been so thrilled when she realised that it had been her, and not Applejack competing with her.

And that time before when Sweetie Bell had taken a bunch of her diamonds and used them to make a picture for her. She had been so mad, but when she had seen what Sweetie Belle had actually used them for…

She sighed. Her sister could be a major pain in the neck at times, but they were still sisters. And even though Sweetie Belle's best intentions did sometimes lead to disaster, she and her sister still loved each other a lot.

Which was why her sister had needed to leave the room. This dress had to be perfect, and also had to be a major surprise. She was making it for Sweetie Belle.
