So thanks to a recent review, I decided to post this chapter. It's unfinished and was made years ago (edited recently), but you (reviewer) inspired me to post it and see if people still wanted me to post. If you do, please review, or PM me or whatever you think will help me know that people are still interested in this story. If not, then I will just end it here with the note that it just is unfinished. I hope you guys like the new chapter.
Chapter 6
"Where'sss my stuffa?" Naraku questioned the empty room. There was a pause and a clinking of glasses. "Donn make me pressit bitch! I wan my shiitt now!"
"I'm sorry." A voice said from the other room, straining to sound as polite as possible, "You're food will be ready in a minute."
A small folding table appeared from around the corner where a lingering smell of steak and dessert was coming from. It was placed beside the rickety lounge chair where a pleased Naraku sat.
"See, a bitch hasta do wat shes told and thas that." He said to the food as if it could hear. He nodded as if pleased by how insightful his drunken statement was.
A smirk appeared on her face as she watched him eat. She knew once he finished he would naturally fall asleep, but a little assistance from some acquired drugs never did any harm.
"Why're you smiling?" He asked, still holding the remote to the bracelets and collar. "You got somea plan I donn know? Huh? Well as long as I gots this remote I gots you."
"I wouldn't ever leave you, Naraku. This is where I belong." She replied to him, her smile wiped off from her face.
"Stopayour lying Kags. You know you'do anything ta go back, but a-ha! If you leave… I will kill you and your friends. And say, where are those sonsofbitches anyways hmmm? Notasuch goodof a friends huh….?" Naraku sputtered as the drugs quickly took effect. As he reached for another beer, his arm slackened and fell and he slumped into the induced sleep.
"Naraku?" Kagome asked, hesitating as she picked up his arm. It dropped limp. "Oh my gosh… I finally found a way out of here."
Running up the stairs of the house, she grabbed her bag that she had stored in case she got a chance to escape, and headed back down. She looked at her watch: 6.43p.m. That meant she had 12 hours until the drugs and drunken stupor wore off. She hoped she could make it back by then.
O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O
"Thank you Mr. Taisho for that wonderful interview about this last month, since you've been promoted, but many are starting to wonder whether this Mr. has a Miss?" The radio host asked, a smile on his face as he pictured his own promotion for the exclusive interview he got.
Sesshomaru glared at the host, people had been spreading rumors about the firing of his secretaries and were starting to talk about possible frisky behavior. He neither cared nor wished to comment.
"I'd like to keep my personal life, personal." He answered coldly, surprising himself with the slight angry tone of the statement.
"Well that will be all today, folks! Tune in tomorrow for the repeat of the new Mr. Business man himself, Mr. Taisho! Thank you for tuning in and good night!"
The radio host got up and turned off the speaker phone and was about to ask Sesshomaru for some 'off the records' info, but realized he was already out of the room and heading back to his car.
Closing the door, Sesshomaru got into the car and glanced at the time, almost 8p.m. The car started and as the driver pulled out of the driveway, Sesshomaru noticed a woman walking alone along the road.
For once in Sesshomaru's life, he could say he was genuinely surprised. Not to say he wasn't completely calm as he instructed his driver to pull over to the side of the road and block the woman. This was just as he might have expected from her.
O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O. o.O
What should I tell them…? Kagome thought, completely immersed in her own thoughts so much that she hardly noticed the car pull up in front of her and a man emerge from it. She looked up in the last second and nearly ran into him.
"So sorry! I-" Kagome stopped and looked up at Sesshomaru with wide eyes. "Sesshy…"
He didn't respond and she looked away from his eyes, ones that reflected anger and confusion mixed into one stoic figure. He could see that he outfit was less than manageable, filthy and torn in places that made her look like a worn down hooker, rather than the esteemed secretary he thought of her as. He looked at her with no expression, but he could see that she knew he was angry.
Strange. He thought as he took in her black shorts that seemed to be cut shorter than made to. He noticed she wore no socks with a pair of tennis shoes that could be black and gray from dirt and wear, or the color. Slowly, he looked at her shirt, or what was left of the bronze tank top. It seemed to be hanging by one shoulder, the other obviously ripped by someone trying to get it off in a hurry. He could even see her white bra, stained in the places he could see and the smell of the whole outfit made his nose want to crinkle, the urge he obviously ignored. It's strange to be angry at her for the appearance of a tramp. This Sesshomaru would never allow such an outfit on a woman in my presence. We must fix this immediately.
"Sesshomaru…?" Kagome asked, fear apparent in her voice. "I know I haven't been able to contact you in a while-"
"Three months and sixteen days." Sesshomaru stated in an apathetic voice.
Surprised by his piercing gaze, she stopped talking and looked at him with a questioning and pleading expression.
"I'm sorry…" She finally whispered, glancing down to his impeccably polished shoes. They reminded her of those on a commercial she had seen a couple weeks ago, one of the rare times Naraku let her watch a half hour of tv before shutting her away in her room before knocking out on the couch. It was one of the rare days he seemed nice enough to not beat or touch her. She knew now that she looked completely different then the first time they had met, at least on the surface, but she knew he could see the fresh bruises. As if on cue, he reached out and grabbed her arm, strong yet as gentle as she could imagine. Tears brimmed and spilled as he examined her in what seemed like an eternity, yet only a few minutes passed of difficult silence.
"You will come with me." He said with a slight tone that she couldn't quite place and turned to his car. "Get out." Sesshomaru stated to his driver, giving him a crisp hundred-dollar bill to find a taxi with. He glared at the long time driver and nodded, as if to state that this was to be between them and no one else. The driver nodded and began walking back to the office, noting that he was lucky to not be killed for watching and listening to Sesshomaru Taisho's personal life.
Sesshomaru didn't wait for Kagome to answer, just got in the car and when he noticed that she was hesitating to follow, he started the car but still didn't glance her way.
"This Sesshomaru does not appreciate waiting." He said, although no anger was apparent in his voice. It was a cold, almost chilling sound as Kagome walked to the passenger seat and opened the door.
The silence that passed as they drove was as deafening as a semi-truck engine starting and Kagome felt his eyes scrutinizing her, but she dared not look at him, she knew not why she was so nervous.
I was just trying to get away for one night. Just one. Kagome thought as she looked out the window, a picture of gloom. She fingered her shorts in a too familiar way and noticed that she had made a hole in the already ripped shorts.
"Dammit…" She said under her breath. Knowing that those were her only clothes, she sighed and watched as they pulled into a building complex that she didn't recognize. "Sesshomaru, where are we going?" She asked in a timid voice.
When he didn't respond, she shrugged it off and chanced a look at him. He seemed to be captivated by a thought or the road, she couldn't tell which, yet completely blank and emotionless, a familiar look that she had remembered most of her days at Nakaku's. She missed it despite everything. A meek smile slowly crept along her face as she watched him drive, his long sleeve pin-striped shirt hid his muscular arms and gave him a look of formality that she knew all too well, but there was something about the blood-red shirt underneath it that, when he was relaxed, peeked from the bottom of his shirt, seemed to tell a different story of the cold Yoikai. His caramel colored slacks finished his look and gave off an unapproachable feel, as much as a pair of pants could give. Yet the simple undershirt that seemed to give a menacingly dark look to the shirt, gave the miko a feeling of hidden complications, rather than the stoic impression he usually gave off.
The car slowed down to a massive looking mansion, making Kagome stare at Sesshomaru with a strange look, "Why are we here?" She asked to the door, not realizing that he had already gotten out of the car. She jumped when she heard the *click* of her door as he opened it for her.
He waited only but a second before turning heel and walking towards what seemed like an immense door that reached at least 15 feet or more width and height wise. She didn't understand why anyone would need that much space for a doorway, but she put that out of her mind as Sesshomaru stood in front of the door and seemed to wait.
"So I guess you do wait, hmph?" Kagome said, surprising the Tai-Yoikai with her brazenness. Again, he didn't like surprises.
A small growl seemed to quiet her and he whipped out his phone and dialed a number, but as it rang, he heard footsteps behind the door and continued to wait, uncharacteristically, for the owner of the home. The door opened in what seemed like an eternity, but was really all of less then a minute, and the woman at the door stared at Sesshomaru, fear apparent in her eyes and stance as he raised an eyebrow at her blatant lateness. Despite him showing up without notice, he didn't expect her to take so long to answer the door. The day seemed to be filled with disturbances that weren't of Sesshomaru's liking.
This woman is going to be the end of me. Sesshomaru thought as he walked into the house, ignoring the star struck house owner. He noted that he should have a key.
"I don't appreciate waiting, a key and new locks will be added to the house to prevent another occurrence, Rin" Sesshomaru stated as he walked down the hallway to the office.
"Yes, Mr. Taisho. How can I assist you?" Rin answered in a respectful tone. It didn't hide her curiosity though and Sesshomaru briefly glared at her.
"That will be all." Sesshomaru said, surprising the outspoken assistant as he closed the door to the office, leaving her standing there.
Nodding to the closed door, she backed away politely and headed to the kitchen to prepare some tea. She knew it wasn't her place to ask such questions and he would be expecting tea in a few minutes. She hurried to start the water and woke her husband to begin the surveillance procedure as Sesshomaru would expect.
O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O. o.O
"Sesshomaru, what are we doing here?" Kagome finally got the courage to ask, after staring out the window for the last two hours. She knew she wouldn't have to worry about Naraku until the morning, the dose she gave him would drug an elephant.
Sesshomaru didn't answer. Instead, he moved his chair over to give her a view and took a sip from his tea. He would have to praise Rin for her prompt and delicious tea.
"Is that what I think it is?" Kagome asked, looking perplexed as she stared at what was now her home. "You have been watching me?"
Sesshomaru only blinked but she took that as a yes. He wondered why he had decided on this course of action; it was so... random. He was not a random person.
"Sesshomaru, this is insane I told you to stay out of this! I can-"
"You simply stated not to kill him, which I have only refrained from doing on your insistence." Sesshomaru interjected with a cold undertone. He could not believe that she was in front of him after all this time and they were arguing over the fact that he was watching her. He wasn't going to leave her to Naraku.
"I can handle this on my OWN! I don't want anyone getting hurt!" Kagome yelled, the anger in her voice surprising herself, "What if he came after you...? What if he came after any of my friends? You're being reckless-"
"Do not call this Sesshomaru reckless. I have observed enough and waited for an opportunity to fix your situation without being reckless by any means. I have spared your life and you want to argue about my cautiousness?"
"Ok, so you saved my life from the car and now what? I still have to go back. You have to take down the surveillance. I know he will find out, he has people, they are dangerous..." She drifted off at the end, looking to the floor and wondering how she was going to convince Sesshomaru to change. The thing was, she didn't want to change.
"Sango and Miroku have been looking for you. They spoke with the police, who explained that they couldn't do anything without some sort of evidence. Inuyasha his worried, do you care about their efforts to keep you safe?" Sesshomaru stated with hesitation, he wasn't used to this kind of talk. In fact, he could remember the last time he had a conversation with someone in the last three months and sixteen days.
"Of course I do! But that doesn't mean you can watch me-"
"I can watch whomever I wish to, my issue was not about Naraku, it was about you."
"What? What about me? Why would you have some problem with me?"
"You left, I needed to know why. Now I know,... and so do the authorities" Sesshomaru hesitated on the last stated, again he wondered how the woman in front of him could make him act this way.
"You called the police? SESSHOMA-" Kagome stopped when she found a hand over her mouth and his arm around her waist, she was suddenly upright and tight against him. She squirmed and he tightened his grip.
"This room is sound proof but do not think that this Sesshomaru will tolerate yelling of this sort. I have not simply called the police so that you will still have to go back to a... Naraku, I have sent them information that will put him away. This Sesshomaru is not careless." He stopped when she tried unsuccessfully to get out of his grasp as he sat her on top of him.
"I will not refrain from punishment if you continue this." He whispered in her ear and she shivered. Wide-eyed she stopped struggling and settled further into him, trying to make him uncomfortable. He growled, a low deep sound that brought more shivers than his voice, and she froze mid-snuggle.
Mmmph was her only response as they sat for a long minute in the same position. Sesshomaru stiffened for a moment but, realizing the position he was in, relaxed as much as he could muster in that position and waited for the intrusion.
"Mr. Taisho?..." Came a meek voice from outside the door. Rin knocked lightly and when she received no response continued, "The police are on the phone. They have Naraku in custody and are requesting further instructions in regards to certain charges that are against him. They would not specify them to me and demanded to speak with you right now. I said to leave a message but they said they would wait. May I come in?"
"Yes," Sesshomaru answered and was answered with a surprised look from her as the door was opened. Unquestioningly she passed him the phone and noted that he had to use the hand around Kagome's waist to grab the phone. Sesshomaru didn't move Kagome from his lap, but repositioned her and glared at her as he removed his hand from her mouth.
"One word." He said menacingly to her and took the phone from Rin. "That will be all."
Rin exited without a second glance at the strange arrangement she found her master. She briskly walked out and quietly closed the door before running to her husband to tell him what happened.
"Yes?" Sesshomaru stated into the phone, ignoring the glare from Kagome as she sat none to pleasingly on his lap. He grinned inwardly, but at what he didn't know.
O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O. o.O
... A couple hours later...
"You have video tapes of me inside the house!? What have you seen?!" Kagome yelled at Sesshomaru, who glared back as he continued speaking on the phone with the police.
"We will continue this later," Sesshomaru calmed said into the phone, ignoring the yelling woman in front of him, "You have plenty of evidence at your disposal, there are certain items that I must review and see if they should be used for the trial." He paused, "I will get back to you in one week, access to the house is imperative for Kagome to retrieve anything that belonged to her, I have a key and will visit sometime in the week. Give my regards to Sergeant Patterson for the swift response to my email."
He hung up the phone and watched as Kagome continued to pace the floor as she heard his entire plan unravel over the last couple of hours. He moved to the computer and made a few emails to himself.
After a few minutes Kagome stopped and the tears that threatened to pour came tumbling down. She looked at her hands and couldn't think, Naraku is gone. She fell to her knees and felt a strong grip on her hand and waist. She looked up through her tears and saw Sesshomaru with a look she had never seen before.
"What did you see?" She whispered as he brought her back to her feet. He was quiet. "Sesshomaru... What did you do? What did you see-"
"We will discuss this at home." He replied, surprising himself at the anger in his tone.
Taken aback, she just nodded and followed as he abruptly turned and walked out of the room. She opened the door to the office as he nodded to Rin and walked out of the house. He got in the car and noted that she quickly got in the car so that he wouldn't have to wait.
They drove quickly to the house but Kagome couldn't look out the window, couldn't look at Sesshomaru, couldn't understand what was happening.
"Everyone is waiting," Sesshomaru said quietly, breaking the dead silence in the car. They had arrived a few minutes ago but she had not gotten out of the car. "You will greet everyone-"
"Sesshomaru what did you SEE?! I can't go in-" Kagome interrupted, tears falling down to her mostly bare chest.
"You will greet everyone and we will talk after, they know nothing except that you escaped. Do not mention anything to them except that and we will discuss everything after." He stated in a calm voice, he noted that despite his planning, she was the only wildcard that could change things. He did not appreciate the lack of control.
She took a deep breath and tried to control the tears that were streaming down her face.
The Tai-Yoikai took an unusual breath and opened his door. The chill of the air seemed to come as a welcome sting on his face as he watched the trees dance in the wind, waiting. They too seemed anxious, but this was unlike him. He was being unprofessional, he was ill-prepared, he was irrational. But he couldn't let her go back. He had promised himself that he would get her back, and when he saw her walking there, right in his reach, after so many secretaries that couldn't touch her. He couldn't let her go back, not after what he had seen, had heard, but she would know soon enough.
He glanced at her when she finally opened her door. She was looking to the floor, didn't even seem to notice the familiarity of the home. Slowly her eyes traveled up, taking in his classic designer shoes, covered by crisp blue pants with a matching suit top that seemed to be molded to his figure. She saw the red again, the red undershirt that peeked from under the black button down. A small smile crept to her face for a split second and disappeared as she walked towards the door, he followed.
They walked slowly to the door and there was a click as the door was opened as they approached.
Well that's all for now! I am still working out on what ending I want, but that won't be anytime soon! I hope... I don't know but the story just writes itself, I feel like I just want to write what I am seeing in my head as the play of the story :) If there are any errors please review, I have some work to do so the next chapter might be short but then again, this was supposed to be short. Anyways, I'm rambling.
So please review! I hope you like it!
