In this giant world there is always someone hiding from their fears and locking themselves in loneliness.
A woman sits in her bedroom and stares at the thick curtains hanging over her windows, a slight break in the middle where sunlight forces its way into the room.
Will I be able to go out today, the woman wonders. Can I say hello to someone today? There was a time when no such thing bothered the woman. Now she finds herself afraid of the outside world.
The knocks on the door. The footsteps on the pavement. The rustle of leaves. The whispers of the wind. The chatter of adults. The playfulness of children. The laughter of a baby. The world is full of sounds. The woman is able to picture them in her mind, what she hears. But there are sounds invisible to the senses. A new life. A reunited family. A surviving warrior. A lost wanderer. A friend's betrayal. A broken heart... invisible except to the body's emotions.
The woman sits on her bed and thinks about her place in life; what was she born to do? That woman tried to find out and ended up sealed away in her thoughts. Fear of being hurt, lost, battered, broken. That woman constrained herself into the confinement of her own mind.
The woman couldn't resist the chime of the doorbell. She peeked through the peephole and found a man on the other side. Little did the woman know that that man would be her guide, her bridge, from her small, insignificant island to the land of the living.
