Chapter 5
"I'm bored!" Mikey complained as they were watching for the Kraang. "Let's do something fun."
"It's not that bad," Katie pointed out. "I mean, it's better than sitting and doing something stupid. This way, we're out in the fresh, polluted air," She gestured around them.
Mikey was still bored. He didn't want to sit there and watch for the Kraang. Yeah, sure, they had to rescue April's father, but did they have to do it now?
Out of boredom, he poked Raph in the head. Raph shot Mikey a look, but then turned his gaze back to the street. Mikey continued to poke Raph in the head.
Katie could see that Raph was getting annoyed, but she kept a look out for the Kraang. She kept glancing at Mikey, who was still poking Raph.
"Mikey!" Raph yelled and hit his younger brother. Mikey ran, but Raph ran after him.
"Be quiet! You'll attract unwanted attention!" Leo said, just above a whisper.
"Yeah, Raph," Katie snapped.
Suddenly, there was a noise, like a door opening. Katie's eyes went to Raph and glared daggers at his head. Her eyes went to the service door. A fat man was standing there, he seemed very angry and cranky. He lumbered towards the five of them.
"You broke my satellite dish! You big green toads!" the fat man yelled.
Katie saw anger flash across Raph's eyes. She turned to the man, "Honestly? Let's insult the whole world while you're at it!"
He took one look at her and his eyes went all googly. He stumbled forward, but Raph was a little angry at the moment, "We aren't toads! You big, fat human!" He got closer to Katie, trying to protect her from this freak show.
"Then what are you? Come, Ms. Bracket, let me take you away from these weird people. I'm Vic," He held out his harry hand.
"Who says I have to listen to you?" She put her hands on her hips. "I'd rather stay here than go with you!"
Nobody noticed the five Kraang droids coming up the fire escape. Mikey heard the footsteps of the droid feet. He turned around and froze. He started to poke Leo's shell.
"Uh, Leo?" he asked.
Leo looked over his shoulder. "What is it-" His eyes trailed to where Mikey's finger was pointing at. "Hey, guys. We have something better to worry about."
Katei and the rest of the turtles turned around to face the Kraang droids.
"Honestly, do these things ever give up?" Katie rolled her eyes. "So, who wants to go first?"
They all went at the same time. As they fought the droids, Vic flipped out his camera phone and tapped the entire fight.
Katie looked around the roof, looking for any kind of weapon. Behind the service door, she found a thin, gray pipe. She grabbed it and turned to face the Kraang droid that had come around the corner. Its finger was on the trigger of its gun and it pulled. Katie jumped up before the pink blast went by her. Once she was back on the ground, she ran out from behind the service door, luring the droid into the open.
When the droid was in the open, she ran straight at it and pushed the pipe through the little alien that was controlling it. she pulled the pipe out and walked back to the turtles.
"Give me the phone!" Raph yelled at Vic.
"Not a chance. I've got Katie Bracket fighting on my roof, you think I'm gonna give that up?" he laughed and ran back into the apartment.
Leo turned to Raph. "Did you really need to do that? A human saw us!"
"Yes, he called us toads!" Raph yelled back.
Katie could hear fire truck sirens in the distance, "Ummm, guys. I think we should settle this back at the Lair. I think Vic called the cops and, personally, I don't need this on my record."
They nodded and started jumping the rooftops.
While they were jumping, Donnie was thinking of what she meant by 'I don't need this on my record.'
"You have a record?" he asked Katie, since she was jumping next to him.
'Yeah, back in L.A., I was caught with some drugs that weren't mine," she sighed. " I didn't even know it was marijuana, but I did know it was some sort of drug. I was put on payroll for a 2 months and my friend, the real owner of the drugs, was sentenced to 20 years."
"You were caught up with drugs?" Mikey said, "It didn't say that on your profile."
Katie shook her head. "I didn't want it on there, it would've changed the way people looked at me. Especially the little kids, I want to be a good roll model for them, not like some of the actors and singers we have today. Most of them do drugs, I'm not that kind of person."
"Have you ever done drugs?" Donnie asked.
"Have I done drugs?" she repeated the question. "When I was 14, eighth grade. Some of my friends were going to a party that Friday night. I thought I'd tag along, ya know, publicity and all.
"So, we get there, all fun and games, right? Well, the host brought out some bags. There was this green stuff in it. My friend, Abby, she tried it first. She got really weird, she started stumbling and her words weren't there. I immediately knew she had just smoked marijuana. I guided her towards the door and we got out of there as fast as we could. I took her to my house and she spent the night. She wasn't high the next day, but the marijuana was in her system for the whole month."
"So, you didn't do drugs?" Mikey asked.
"Of course not! I would never, ever do that. My parents would kill me! Especially my mom, she raised me better than that. If I ever had any problems, go to her, not the drugs. They don't get rid of your problems, people might say that, but it's not real. Abby was so messed up that month. I had to do her homework because she didn't know what it was on, she failed all the tests we took that month."
"Wow, even I didn't know this about you. Mikey had me hack the whole system, just to find out everything about you. Thinking about it now, I probably broke the law," Donnie said.
"I would think so. Mikey, did you really like me that much?" She asked over her shoulder.
"Yes," he smiled up at her.
Raph was listening to the whole conversation. "Why would you take Abby back to your house?"
"Because she was my best friend and you'd do anything for your best friend, wouldn't you?" she looked up at the front, where Raph was. "Because of what I did that night, I'd do it for her a million more times if I had too. Key word there; if."
He looked back at her, but she had dropped her head. "I would," he whispered.
They had reached the abandoned alley. Leo jumped down first and opened the manhole. Donnie went down first, then Mikey, Katie, Raph, and Leo.
The walked in silence towards the Lair, Leo kept sending bad looks at Raph. Katie could tell that Raph was a little annoyed. Then, she thought about Vic. She shuddered at the sight of him. Ewww! She thought, I would never, ever go with that!
They entered the Lair and Master Splinter was waiting for them.
"How did your mission go?" he questioned his eldest son.
"Bad. Raph couldn't control his anger and attracted a human. He started to argue with him and that attracted the Kraang, sensei," Leo told Master Splinter.
"Raphael, you should not let your anger out on humans. What he has seen, he could go to the authorities and hunt us down," He lectured his son.
"Probably is never gonna give it up because he has me on it," Katie pointed out.
"All of you, dojo! Now!" Master Splinter ordered.
They all walked to the dojo as quickly as they could.
"Raph's gonna get it this time," Mikey whispered to Katie.
She smirked, "If it has anything with insulting him, I'm in," She whispered back.
They all knelt in the front of the room. Master Splinter came into the room with bow and suction cup arrows. He handed each of them a bow and five arrows, except Raph.
"Raphael, stay in the front. The rest of you, go to the back," Master Splinter said.
They got up and went to the back of the room. Donnie was on the far right and Mikey was next to him. Katie was in between Mikey and Leo.
"Begin!" Master Splinter began the lesson.
Katie loaded the bow with the arrow. She had taken classes on archery for one of her movies. She knew that Raph would easily dodge these, so all she had to do was wait for the right time.
Mikey shot his arrow first. It was meant for Raph's leg but he jumped up. Katie shot her arrow as he was in the air. It hit him right in the forehead. He was in shock for 2 seconds, but then recovered. She continued this method until he caught on.
In the end, Raph only had one arrow on him.
Master Splinter walked around the room, "Very good, Ms. Bracket, very good,"
"Thank you, sensei," she said.
"Again. Only this time… Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Ms. Bracket, insult Raphael," Master Splinter tossed them more arrows.
Donnie looked confuse, "Wait, insult… him?"
"Yes" Master Splinter answered.
"And he can't fight back?" Katie asked.
"No," he said.
Katie smiled, "I have a good feeling about this."
"You're going to enjoy this, aren't you?" Raph said across the room.
Katie smirked, "Every second of it."
"Begin!" Master Splinter said.
Leo went first, "Hey, how's it going, you big green toad?" he shot his arrow and he got Raph in the shell.
"Yeah, I wonder what it's like being a toad," Katie shot her arrow and got him in the face. "I bet you feel real tough now." she shot another arrow and got him in the plastron.
They continued to insult Raph until he was covered in arrows. He was hunched over in defeat.
"Very good, all of you," Master Splinter circled the room. "Now, go find this Vic and get the video without using force."
They put the bow and arrows back and started walking towards the dojo door.
"Wait, all of you wait in the kitchen. Ms. Bracket, stay," Master Splinter instructed.
They all nodded and Katie walked forward. The rest of the turtles left. Mikey had wanted to listen, but Leo pulled him off the door.
"You wanted to see me, sensei?" she asked him.
"You fight very well without a weapon," he circled around the room, "And you have had experience with the bow?"
"Yes," she answered.
"Then, as your chosen weapon, you have been granted the bow and arrows,"
He handed her a bow and a sheath of real arrows, the sharp pointed ones, not the suction.
"T-thank you," she stuttered.
Master Splinter waved his hand, "No need. Now, go, get this video from the man named Vic and destroy it. Without using force."
"Yes, sensei," Katie quickly got up and walked to the door. She opened it and was greeted by running into Mikey. "Get up, we have to get that video from Vic before I beat the living crap out of him."
Mikey got up and nodded. Katie put the sheath of arrows over her head along with the bow. She walked into the living room and the rest of the turtles were sitting on the long couch.
"Hello!" she waved, "Here's a wise idea, lets go get that stupid video from Vic," she motioned towards the entrance.
Leo jumped up, "Yes, lets go!"
All the turtles went towards the door. They walked through the sewers in silence. The only noise was the echo of their feet against the water and the sound of running water.
Soon, they reached a manhole. Leo went up first and let the rest of them up. Katie jumped out and tried to figure out where they were. Leo started jumping up the nearest fire escape, they others quickly followed. At the top of the roof, Katie still didn't know where they were.
"This way," Leo said and started heading west. Katie followed him and started remembering the little landmarks from earlier.
Finally, they found themselves on Vic's roof, again. They went to the fire escape door and peered inside, Leo mostly. He pulled back and knocked on the door.
"Who would be knocking at this time night?" an old man came lumbering to the door. He looked through the glass and grunted, but opened the door, "What do you want?" he spat.
"Well, the video would be nice," Donnie said.
"That's exactly why we're here. Can we please have that video?" Leo held out his hand for the phone.
"I want a million dollars and," his eyes glittered, "the girl," he pointed at Katie.
Raph saw this and didn't like it, so he quickly moved in front of Katie, "Over my dead body," he growled. She may be new, but he wasn't going to let her leave that easy.
"Well, you could just give me the girl and I'll give you the video," he said.
Raph took out his Sai and held it to Vic's throat, "You're going to give us that video or else I'm gonna get it out of ya,"
"No girl, no video, you Kung-Fu Frog with salad tongs for weapons," he stifled a laugh.
Katie had just about enough of this nonsense. She lifted her bow over her head and took out an arrow out of its sheath. Katie walked towards Raph and Vic. She stood next to Raph, "Be a good citizen for the city of New York and give us the video."
"Oooohhh, is the famous Katie Bracket coming to the defense for her boyfriend?" Vic cooed.
"HE'S NOT MY BOYFRIEND!" she yelled at the same time Raph said that she wasn't his girlfriend.
"Well, if you're single-" Katie cut Vic off.
"I'm not single, I do have a boyfriend. He happens to be on tour around the world as a matter of fact," she lied.
Raph had a hard time breathing after she said that. Of course she would have one, any guy would be lucky to have her, he thought.
"Well, he's not here, is he?" Vic raised an eyebrow.
"No," she said.
"So, he can't protect you from other men?" he asked.
Raph moved in front of her, "Yeah, but she still has me."
"Like you're going to do anything. Come with, I'll make sure you're not around these wackjobs," he motioned for her to come with her.
"Yeah, right, I'd rather stay here than go with you," Katie said.
"If I were you, I'd listen to her," Raph warned.
"If I were her, I wouldn't want to be going anywhere with something like you," Vic said to Raph.
"I think I've finally lost it with this guy," Katie and Raph said at the same time.
"Hey! A little help over here!" they heard Leo said.
Katie had an arrow ready and turned around to see that the Kraang were there. She quickly joined the fight. She shot her first arrow in the droids stomach area, where the controller was and hit him square between the eyes. She ran over to it and pulled out the arrow. She noticed that Raph was still arguing with Vic.
"Raph! Get your butt out here!" she yelled and shot an arrow at yet another droid.
Raph turned around to glare at her, but as soon as he turned around, one of the droids grabbed Vic and made a run for it with him.
"Retreat! Retreat!" it yelled to the few remaining followers. They obeyed and followed the leader.
Leo turned to Raph, "Look what you did! How are we going to get that video now?"
"He was the one who insulted me!" Raph yelled at his older brother.
"You and your temper are big trouble," Leo shook his head, "Katie, take him back to the Lair."
"Sure," she walked towards the edge of the roof. She turned around, "Come on."
Raph walked over to her and they started jumping along the rooftops.
Katie tried to make a friendly conversation, "Might I ask why you didn't join the fight in the first place?"
"No," he said quickly.
"Well, I think I have a pretty good idea," she smirked.
"Oh really?" he questioned her.
"Yup," she smiled.
"Mind telling me what your theory might be?" he asked.
She smiled up at him, "Nope."
"I would like to hear it," he said.
There was a long pause. Should I tell him? She thought, Should I? I'm not sure. She bit her lip.
She sighed, "You felt that he needed to be taught a lesson," she lied.
"Yeah," Raph tried to sound normal. She can't know the truth, he thought, what would I do?
They reached the abandoned alley and jumped down to the manhole. Raph lifted it up so Katie could jump in. She did and he followed her. They walked to the Lair in silence.
When they reached the entrance, Raph went to the kitchen where his pet turtle, Spike was.
"I think," Katie mumbled to herself, "that that turtle has a mind of its own."
She sat down on the couch just as the 8:00 news turned on.
"Still no telling why Katie Bracket is in the state. My sources are telling me that it might be because she has a new man-"
Katie turned off the TV in frustration, "I don't have a new man, not since a year ago," she said through gritted teeth.
She closed her eyes and listened to Raph complain. She was about to say something when Master Splinter came out. He told Raph a story from his youth and Katie listened intently.
"What kind of choice will you make?" Master Splinter said before leaving.
Katie quickly got up and walked to the entrance. She looked at Raph, "Well, come on. I don't feel like being plastered all over the news any more than I already am," she was talking about if the video got leaked. She began to walk through the sewers. Katie heard water splash behind her. Soon, Raph was beside her.
"Hasn't anybody told you to wait?" he asked.
"Nope," she said, popping her "p".
"Well, you could tell me why you blew up at the news," he looked at her.
"I didn't blow! I was just mad because they were saying things that aren't true. And to answer your other question; long story short, I had a boyfriend that I was in a relationship for almost 2 years. One day, comes to my house with a girl that was new in the business of singing and her voice sounded like nails on a chalkboard."
"Ok, not what I expected, but didn't you tell-" Raph began.
"Another time," Katie said and climbed up the ladder and opened up the manhole. They climbed out and jumped up to the roof. "Exactly where are we supposed to go?"
"Follow me," Raph said, looking north.
"Are you sure you know where you're going?" Katie questioned him.
"I just have a feeling," he answered back.
"Oh, so we're going on a feeling now?" she said before they started jumping roof to roof.
5 minutes later, they found the warehouse where the rest of the turtles were. Katie and Raph broke through the glass windows. Katie ended up by the wall and Rap landed right in front of a big hairy spider.
"Hey! It's the Kung-Fu Frog with the salad tongs!" the spider said and instantly Katie knew the voice. It was Vic's.
"Hey! It's the stupid loudmouth who's about to get his butt kicked!" Raph shot back.
Katie saw the phone in one of Vic's legs, "Raph! Focus on getting the phone!" she yelled halfway across the room.
Raph looked up at were she was pointing at. He saw it and jumped for it but Vic pulled it away. This continued for several minutes until Vic tripped while insulting Raph. Katie was close enough to grab the phone and destroy it.
She put it on the ground and stepped on it, "That'll teach you to mess with the wrong girl," she said, turning to face Vic, but he was already looking down at them from the roof.
"I'll get my revenge! And the girl!" he called down.
Katie cupped her hands and put them to her mouth, "In your dreams, spider-man, in your dreams!"
"Raph! You did it you didn't get mad when he insulted you!" Mikey hit his older brother on the back.
"Yeah, well done, Raph," Leo nodded.
"Good job," Donnie complimented.
"Wonderful!" Katie exclaimed. Walking towards the entrance. "Now, I'm going home because it's way past my bedtime."
"You have a bedtime?" Raph asked, walking beside her.
"No. I'm just really, really tired. I've had quite an eventful day, meeting you and all," she said.
"Yeah, I guess you have," he sighed.
Katie silently leaned her head on his shoulder as they walked. Raph felt something on his shoulder, but didn't dare look, for he knew who it was and didn't want her to move.
A/N; Am I evil? I think I'm evil. Did anybody like the little moments I put in for Katie and Raph? Anybody? Well, I did. Wait, I wrote the chapter, of course I'll have to like them. R&R would be awesome or just posting a review about it, or would that still be considered R&R? I don't know I get confused easily. Toodles!
