Chapter 3: Mine
Nanimori Middle school.
Due to the absence of Hibari, everyone at Nanimori Middle School seemed less tense and there were many crowds in the halls of the school with many students chattering within their groups.
"Ohayou!"
"Ohayou gozaimasu!"
Mikasa walked down the hall of Nanimori to her classroom in deep thought.
"Ohayou, Amou-san."
"Ohayou, Amou!"
Tsuna and Yamamoto greeted, snapping her out of her trance.
"Ohayou gozaimasu, Tsuna-san, Takeshi-kun." She greeted back with a smiled.
"How was it with Hibari-san?" Tsuna asked.
"He hasn't come back from the past yet. But, Chibi-san is pretty calm at home." She told him.
"I see, where's Kirigiri-san?"
"She didn't come to school today, or couldn't I guess is more correct…"
"Eh?"
~*~ Flashback
"No!" Little Hibari yelled not letting go of Natsume's leg. His arms and legs tightly wrapped around her leg, trying to keep her firmly in place. He looked at her with his wide onyx eyes with a pout on his face.
Natsume sighed tiredly and shook her head.
"Kyouya, I have to go to school," She told him. But Little Hibari stubbornly shook his head and puffed his cheeks, "I'll come back around three, I promise."
"No!" His grip tightened on her leg. Sighing deeply even more, Natsume turned to her sibling.
"You guys go ahead…" she told them.
"Are you sure, Nee-san?" Mikasa asked.
"Yeah, don't worry, I'll come later if I can."
~*~ End of Flashback
"In the end, Nee-san didn't come…" Mikasa told them.
"Heh~"
"Haha! Sounds tough, Amou!"
"Hai…"
~*~ Home
Natsume walked around the house doing chores as Little Hibari closely followed her around the house with the bird pillow in hand. No matter how fast and swiftly she walked, Little Hibari kept pacing after her. After two hours of walking around the house, Natsume sat down on the couch with Little Hibari next to her.
"Now, what do you want to do?" She asked him.
Hibari shook his head, "I don't know…"
"Sou… then, why don't I read you a story?"
Little Hibari nodded and got up grabbing a small book from the shelf.
"This one!" He told her bringing the book to her. Natsume took the book read the title.
"What the wolf found in the mountains… oh, how nostalgic." Natsume patted the space next to her, "Okay, sit down and I'll read it to you."
Little Hibari crawled back on to the couch and made his way on to Natsume's lap with the bird pillow in his lap. He looked up at Natsume with a smile. Natsume smiled back at him and opened the book.
"Once upon a time, there was a lone wolf, stray from a pack living in the mountains. The wolf always stood alone and bored and if there were to be a predator in his way, he would have bitten them to death," Natsume stopped for a moment, "Wait… this line…"
Little Hibari looked up at Natsume confusingly and pulled on her sleeve.
"Natsume?"
"Oh, sorry," Natsume cleared her throat before continuing.
As she read through the story, she felt the boy's body relax in her arms. Smiling to herself, Natsume placed the book down and carefully placed the boy down on the couch. Quietly leaving the room, Natsume went by the towel closet to pull out an extra blanket to drape over Little Hibari. Returning to the living room, she found the said boy curled up against the Hibird pillow.
"Geez," She thought as she draped the blanket over him, "When did most of your cuteness go away?" she brushed away a bit of his bangs and laughed lightly.
Suddenly, Natsume was snapped out of her thoughts as the doorbell rang.
"Oi~! Natsume, are you here?!" she heard a familiar voice call.
"Hm?" Natsume got up, "What did he come here for?" she mumbled to herself as she went to answer the door. Opening the door, she was greeted by the Cavallone Boss with Hibird on his head and Romario beside him.
"Hey, Natsume!"
"Natsume! Natsume! Natsume!"
"Dino… what are you doing here?"
Dino grinned, "I heard from Reborn, Kyouya's here right?"
Natsume nodded, "Yeah, he's sleeping right now." She told him.
"Hibari! Hibari!" Hibird chirped, flying in to the house.
"Don't wake him up." She called after the bird. "I'll put in some coffee." She told Dino.
"Yeah, thanks."
While Little Hibari slept, the two sat at the table as Natsume explained the whole situation.
"I see, the Ten year Bazooka... but, you have a pretty tough too, Natsume." Dino laughed.
"Not really, he's a good boy." She told him, "And he's cute."
"Heh~, a cute Kyouya huh? I can't even imagine it."
Natsume let out a small laugh at his thought, "Really? There's time he could be cute now."
"Are you joking…?"
"Nope. Believe it or not, the Kyouya from this time isn't that different from Ten years ago."
"Liar! Cute doesn't fit his personality at all!"
"Natsume! Natsume!" the two heard Hibird chirp and turned their attention to the boy and bird at the door way of the kitchen. Little Hibari stood swaying side to side as he tried to rub away the sleep in his eyes.
"Kyouya," Natsume got up and walked over to him, "Did you sleep well?" She asked. Little Hibari just nodded and grabbed on to her sleeve. "Hm?"
"I'm hungry…" He whispered to her.
"Hai, hai. I'll make lunch now." She told him placing on the high chair between the two, "What do you want?"
"Onigiri!" he told her.
"Okay, what do you want it in?" she asked.
"Salmon!"
"Okay, Natsume turned to Dino, "You want some?"
"Yeah, I'll have some salmon too…"
"Okay, How about you, Romario?"
"I'm fine with just coffee."
"Okay."
Natsume left the room to the kitchen, leaving the two alone. Dino sat in his chair staring at Little Hibari trying to wake himself up.
"Uwa… he's cute…" Dino thought, "How did this turn to that?"
"Boss, it's rude to stare…"
"But, it's rare to see Kyouya like this…"
"Who are you?" Little Hibari asked. He was wide awake now and staring at Dino with an unreadable look.
"Me? I'm Dino. A friend of Natsume."
Little Hibari said nothing and took Hibird in to his hands. Dino stared at him with an smile still on his face.
"Eh? What? No reaction…?" he asked in his mind.
"Hai, lunch time." Natsume placed the plate of onigiri on the table. "Here, Kyouya, you have juice."
Little Hibari turned to her and nodded. He sat up and puts his hands together, "Itadakimasu!" He said before eating. Natsume refilled Dino and Romari's cup before sitting down.
"Thanks."
Natsume watched as Little Hibari as the small onigiri she made.
"Oishi!" He said with a smile.
"Good," Natsume patted the boy's head and smiled back.
"So you're watching him until he's back to normal?"
"Yeah, they're having the bazooka checked out now and I talked to Kyouya's Mom about this.*" Natsume told him, "I'm just worried about one thing…"
"What's that?"
Natsume sat with her elbows on the table with her hands together, "I'm worried about how many people were bitten to death by The Kyouya of this time…" she muttered.
"Y-yeah… that…." Dino laughed with a sweat drop on the back of his head.
Natsume sighed, "I hope he hasn't killed anyone…" she thought. But, Natsume was put out of such heavy thoughts by a tug on her sleeve. Turning her attention to Little Hibari, she tilted her head, "What?" She asked. Little Hibari didn't say anything but held up an onigiri to Natsume. "For me?"
He nodded once with a small blush on his face. Natsume smiled and took the ball of rice from his hands. She patted his head.
"Thanks, Kyou-chan."
Little Hibari's face bursted in to a bright red as steam poured out his ears. He looked down at his plate fidgeting in his chair. Dino laughed at this.
"I think you've got a crush, Natsume."
"Don't tease him, Dino."
Little Hibari looked up at Dino and grasped Natsume's sleeve again.
"Mine." He declared leaning closer to Natsume.
"Eh?"
Natsume laughed and pulled the boy to her lap. "See? He isn't that different right?"
"I seriously think something's wrong with your head, Natsume…."
