Chapter 5: Look At All The Lonely People

Max's POV
Being forced to into overly puffy dresses and sent on to a stage to sing with people whom think you're a "two-faced liar". Is not my idea of fun. I don't think it's anyones idea of fun. I spent the last two months with the said people whom think I'm a two-faced liar. Nudge has officially become a DBBF. DBBF stands for a Drive By Best Friend. Basically. She will come to me to tell me something important, or about something she classifies as exciting (usually relating to gossip) and then leave saying we're not friends. Jason apparently can't think for himself. He doesn't have a problem with whether or not I'm dating Fang, but every time tries to speak to me; Ethan will loudly clear his throat and Jason would instantly stop. Ethan is now a complete asshole, I'm not saying he wasn't an asshole before, but he has taken it a step too far. He won't even tell me what song he's performing at 'the blast from the past' event we're performing together on.
The event is to celebrate the merger between two record companies and the 40th anniversary of TLG Records. TLG stands Through the Looking Glass. The company named after Lewis Carroll book by Brent D'ambra. The company had many famous musical acts through out the years. The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, The Beach Boys, Nat 'King' Cole and Billy Joel to name a few. Brent was Tony's (my manager's) dad. He died in 1971 and left the company to Tony whom was 18 then. This anniversary we were doing a tribute to the Beatles. But we had to write and perform four songs. I wondered when people would stop insisting I write new songs. I mean sooner or later I would get burned out from all this song writing.
The two companies that are merging were TLG Records and BTS Records. BTS stands for Brave Trumpet Swan. It was just my luck that this was the label PI and MaYa were signed to. They were merging with us due to companies happened to be going in the same direction. BTS Records also wanted to clean up reputation of being assholes. This event had me stressed out. Fang was going to be there, which is good. Dylan and Maya would be there, which is awful. I needed to distract myself from the impending night of doom and complete bullshit. I tried to go clubbing with some of my old girl-friends but I ended up being banned from three clubs. Some guys didn't under the meaning of 'no' or personal space boundaries. I decided I should stay mainly indoors until the event because the littlest things would set me on edge. I was trying to be the bigger person. But they were making it so fucking hard.
The sad part is... that I have not even mentioned the worst part of the night. Tonight is the première of the duets I wrote with Dylan. We finished writing it about a week ago. There was at least two bodyguards with us at all times. I was honestly impressed that we could be in the same room without being at each other throats. In the end, we wrote four really good songs. I mean I thought Dylan couldn't write. But it turns out he can. After some intense couples therapy sessions with Dylan; I finally understood his side of the break up and vice versa. I still hate him and think he's a douche, but I understand where he was coming from. We understood each other so much that we wrote four songs. Two was mainly written by me; the others mainly by him.
A lot of our fans are really excited about us finally being civil with each other. According to Tony we gained back 30% of fans we both lost during the feud. Clearly none of the ex fans had a bad, published break up.
Thanks to Dylan the whole world knows about my relationship with Fang. Thus I have been getting a lot of hate mail lately. This just made me angrier at everybody. I swear if one more bad thing happens, I'm gonna explode. Right now, everybody's skating on thin ice.
It is now the day before the event. I am driving to my designer's (Jae Hwa) workshop to find out what I am wearing at said event. I know what you're thinking, 'aren't you leaving this a little too late. what if you don't like it?'. Well, Jae Hwa and I discovered, long ago, that if left to my own devices I would quite literally go down the red carpet in sweats.
Jae Hwa is an awesome designer. When we met, she was an up in coming stylist, however after she started dressing me and Nudge. Everybody wanted her. She began designing clothes for us and rest is history.
Her workshop is about a twenty-minute drive from my house. Which is apparently a blessing. I am considered a "reckless driver". My mum will not get in a car with me behind the wheel. I'm sorry but if you don't acknowledge that I stopped so you could cross the street, I'm going to continue driving. If I ever hit you with my car its your fault for being in the street. I only occasionally drive on the sidewalk; I expect you (pedestrians) to return the favour. Or if I don't always stop at lights and weave through traffic. And the fact that I sometimes enjoy going over the speed limit; if all that makes me reckless driver. I am a proud reckless driver.
I drive a blue Audi TT RS Roadster. It was my birthday gift to me. I was so happy and surprised, that I was that thoughtful. I don't know how I knew what I wanted.
I swerve into a parking stop outside the workshop/boutique. The sign read 'House of Pixies' in golden swirly letters. The exterior had been painted in soft blue and had been well maintained. I burst out the car and trudge to the door.
As I push the door open. I am greeted by the chime of the bell that signified the opening of the door. I walk across the hard wooden floors. "Hello?" I say to the empty room.
"Max! We're downstairs!" said a female voice. I make my way slowly downstairs. In the stores basement were four girls crowded around a large metal surface. There were strips of various materials scattered across it. Jae Hwa was at the head of the metal table. She looked up when I entered. I offered her a small smile; which she returned.
Jae Hwa was Korean and looked exactly like a pixie. She had a very petite frame. She had small face. Her nose pinched, her mouth was slim. Her brown, cat-like eyes were overly large. (AN: Jae Hwa looks like Kim Ha Eum) Her make up accentuated these features. Her shoulder length, lovely, rich chocolate hair was pulled back into a bun and together by two wooden brown chop-sticks. She was wearing one of her designs from her Lolita collection. It was my favourite collection by her. The outfit was quite simple; compared to what she usually wore. It was a white, long-sleeved, frilly shirt tucked into a long knee-length, black skirt. The skirt started just below her bust and clung to her body until her hips where it puffed out. The skirt connected to two simple black suspenders. At her waist were four evenly spaced out buttons. Under the skirt was a large knee-length petticoat. To tie the outfit together she had a thin black ribbon around her collar, black Christian Louboutin heels and leaf pattern tights. The outfit made her look elegant and professional. Even though Jae Hwa is only 27 years old and has a childish personality.
To Jae Hwa's left was her girlfriend, Erina. Erina was half-Japanese, half-Irish American and a model. She had been dating Jae Hwa for 7 years and was two years younger than her. She was a lot taller than Jae Hwa, but she was still petite. Her lips were fuller, and her eyes darker. She had a very pretty and friendly face (AN: Erina looks exactly like Melody Yoko Reilly). Erina dressed casually. The exact opposite to her girlfriend. She wore a white crop top with the 'Rolling Stones' logo. High-waisted black jeans, authentic red Vans, a khaki green military jacket and a 'Not For Cutting' bracelet. Her hair was medium length and completely straight. She wore simple make up, eyeliner and lip balm. She rolled a black penny board back and forth with her right foot. She was very humble, not at all how I imagined a model to be. Erina was shy but confident when she needed to be. Jae Hwa was a big believer of PDA, were as Erina was more reserved. Her calm ora balanced Jae Hwa's hectic and jumpy personality. Erina is also a stoner but only on occasion.
To Erina's left was Raven. Raven was Jae Hwa's prodigy, she often assisted style clients with Jae Hwa. Raven was also a singer but rarely released music to the general public. Raven had long, curly purple hair. She was tall and slightly gangly. Her skin was a pale, tinted ivory color, her eyes were a piercing light blue. She was an unusual type of pretty. Her facial feature delicately thin and small. (AN: Raven looks like a cross in-between Keira Knightley and Zooey Deschanel) She was wearing a tartan, zip front, skater skirt; a black, 'Like a Boss' short sleeved, crop top; a black, oversized veste; knee-high black socks, double buckle black booties and heavy, junky jewellery. Her make up was gothic. She was 23 years old; I got along well with her because she was always pleasant, funny and she understood the troubles of having a twin. Her twin was just as nice her but they didn't have the same views which often caused them to clash. Her twin was a ballerina and a dear friend of mine. Raven was one of the friends I went clubbing with.
To Raven's left was Nudge. Nudge wearing a completely denim outfit. She wore denim Vans, high-waisted, washed jean shorts; a sleeveless, denim, crop shirt and an icy blue, oversized jean jacket. Her hair thrown into a messy bun and all of her accessories were shades of blue. Her make up was simple and clean. She wore thick eyeliner, mascara and lip gloss. Her crop shirt showed her belly button piercing. To complete her outfit she was wearing a look of disdain directed at me. She rolled her eyes when I entered the room. Well, no changes there, I thought.
Jae Hwa clapped excitedly and did little jumps. "We're all here, now we can start!" she squealed. Her eyes quickly roamed up and down my outfit. She frowns. Jae Hwa rarely ever frowns. Unless she is really disappointed. Clearly, she was not impressed. I had put the least effort into my outfit. I wore a black 'Holy Shit' baggy, tank top; a pair of black skinny jeans; a black oversized hoodie and a pair of black hi-top, converse sneakers. My hair was in a messy pony-tail. I wore no make up and had various pieces of jewellery. She was lucky I made the effort to put on jeans.
"Max!" Jae Hwa whined.
"Jae Hwa!" I mimic in the same annoying voice. Raven burst out laugh and Erina smirked while Jae Hwa pouted.
"Really mature, Max, Really mature" Jae Hwa retorted sarcastically.
"Thank you, Jae Hwa" I reply.
"It wasn't a compliment, Max"
"I know" I said. She sighed dejectedly.
"Anyway, The theme for the next two seasons is, drum roll please,... 50's!" Jae Hwa said triumphantly. I groaned while Nudge clapped excitedly. "This is in celebration of TLG Records' 40th anniversary. There will be several events to highlight this. I have co-designed many dresses with Raven for you two. The first event is tomorrow evening. You will wear at least two different outfits. Unless your name is Max, whom will be wearing three. We have made sure all outfits are functional, so no excuses" Jae Hwa continued. My frown deepen at this news. Why do I have to wear three outfits? This sucks. I walked further into the room. To at the head of the metal table with Raven. Directly opposite to Jae Hwa.
"Cheer up, Max" Raven whispered to me. I sigh. This was going to be a long day.
I woke from a restless sleep at midnight. I tried to roll over and get back to sleep, but I couldn't. The bed felt too big with just me. Grumpily, I shoved my 'Fuck Off' sleep mask on top of head. I switched on my bedside lamp, huffed dragged my quilt away and got out of bed. I decided I need a cup of hot chocolate and a snack to help me get back to sleep. I shrugged on my favourite hoodie with the words 'Midnight Snacking Expert' on it. The hoodie always made me smile. The tank top I wearing underneath said 'ZzZz All Day...' which described me perfectly. I had on black sleep short and black ying and yang socks. My feet were still quite cold so I stuffed my feet in my cozy knit black Ugg slippers. My hair was in a messy bun. I sleepily trudged downstairs.
I sat on one of my breakfast bar stools, slowly stirring my hot chocolate in my favourite mug. I munched on some large chocolate chip cookies. Occasionally dunking them in to my mug. I fiddled with my iPad, surfing the internet. My mug had the words 'You enthusiasm is scaring everyone'. I just about attempt to go back to sleep when I heard my doorbell ringing persistently. I pressed the intercom, which I have in every room. "Who is it?" I yawned into it.
"It's me" said a muffle familiar voice.
"I don't know anyone called 'Me'. Come back at a reasonable hour or... you know... don't come back at all" I reply.
"It's Nudge" said Nudge.
"Nudge, I think you've got the wrong address... Jason and Ethan don't live here. They haven't in years. They live in Brooklyn... You're in Manhattan. So... bye" I reply tiredly.
"Wait, I'm here to see you" Nudge shout through the intercom.
"No one by the name 'You' lives here. Bye, again" I yawn.
"Max, stop messing around and let me in" she snaps at me.
"Fine" I sigh. I'm sighing a lot these days. I tapped in the password and the open door button. I heard the door click open and the soft creak of the door being pushed open. There was another click of the door being shut behind Nudge.
"Max" Nudge called into the dark house.
"In the kitchen" I call back. I hear footsteps. The lights were unexpectedly switch on by Nudge. I blink rapidly against the bright lights.
"What are you doing sitting in the dark at 1am?" asked Nudge. I shrugged.
"What are doing at my house at 1am?" I ask.
"I asked you first" said Nudge.
"Well, I asked you second" I retort.
"I came to apologise to you. For my behaviour towards you" she grumbled.
"Oh"
"I'm sorry, Max, for being such a bitch towards you. I hate not having you around to talk to. I've been so lonely without you. I cry all the time. I'm starting to cry again, now." Nudge burst into tears. "I wanted to believe what Dylan was saying. Everyone did. I love you like a sister. Do you know how hard it is to PMS by yourself? I mean... sure, Austin tried to help, but it really sucks without your best friend there to suffer with you. Austin was the one that pointed out to me, I was being a hypocrite. I know your probably you're not going to forgive me tonight. Please be my bestie, again. I need my bestie" she choked out.
If there's one thing I can't stand. It's people crying around me. I don't know how to comfort them. I try to distract them. I wasn't going to forgive her but I'm losing my resolve. I was going to tell her 'Fuck you, You can go cry me an ocean and leave me be' but she pulled the water works on me.
I looked at what she wearing. She had on a black cami and shorts with pink trimming. On top she was wearing a thin black hoodie, a black and pink trench coat and a black infinity scarf. She had on a pair of black leather gloves, a pair of pink socks and a pair of black Ugg boots. She was shivering.
I can't believe she left her house to come and see me in this weather. I knew she was truly sorry because Nudge's hates cold weather. Last winter she went to the Africa because she needed some heat. But at the time, she was living in LA.
It was unusually cold for October. Which reminded me it was Nudge's birthday in a matter of days. "Would you like some tea?" I asked. She smiled. I quickly made her the tea. I placed it in front of her on the breakfast bar. She wiped the tears from her eyes, took a large gulp of the tea and moaned.
"How do you make tea so good, but can't cook anything else?" she teased.
"It's a british tradition. It was okay I couldn't cook, but not being to make tea; is another thing." I said flippantly.
"I always forget you lived in England. You know you have a slight accent. Although, Maya does have the same accent. Why?" she said curiously.
"Angel and I lived with my dad for 13 years around the world. Maya and Ella lived with my mum in LA and Brazil. They wanted to raise their children differently." I say in a monotone voice.
"Where did you live around the world?"
"In no particular order, England for 5 years, Spain for 1 year, France for two years, Germany for six months, Japan for a year, Finland for six months, Russia for 1 year, Poland for 1 year and Italy for 2 years" I said my voice devoid of any emotion.
"Wow, that why you can speak all those languages?" she asked surprised. I nodded. "Did you ever see Fang when you were in England?"
"No, I lived in London, Westminster to be exact. He lived in Oxfordshire, Oxford" I say.
"Oh... I can I ask you something?" says Nudge, I nod warily. "Do you still like Fang in that way?"
"Yes, I always will, Can we talk about something else?" I pleaded.
"Sure, I didn't realise how uncomfortable you were" she said timidly.
"It's okay"
"What do I have to do to get you to forgive me?"
"Come with me, I want to play something new" I say with a small smile. She nods, but then she looks down at her half-finished tea with longing. She knows I don't allow food in the studio unless I'm eating it. I chuckle at the desire in her eyes. "Bring the tea with you" I say. She grins at me.
In the studio, I sit at my grand piano. Nudge sits beside me. "I wrote this two months ago for your birthday, but there is no time like the present to play it" I say. Nudge nods encouragingly.
Sometimes you think you'll be fine by yourself
'Cause a dream is a wish that you make all alone
It's easy to feel like you don't need help
But it's harder to walk on your own
You'll change inside when you realize
The world comes to life and everything's bright
From beginning to end when you have a friend by your side
That helps you to find the beauty you are
When you open your heart and believe in the gift of a friend
The gift of a friend
Someone who knows when you're lost and you're scared
There through the highs and the lows
Someone to count on , someone who cares
Beside you wherever you'll go
You'll change inside when you realize
The world comes to life and everything's bright
From beginning to end when you have a friend by your side
That helps you to find the beauty you are
When you open your heart and believe in the gift of a friend
And when your hope crashes down
Shattering to the ground
You, you feel all alone
When you don't know which way to go
And there's no signs leading you home
You're not alone
The world comes to life and everything's bright
From beginning to end when you have a friend by your side
That helps you to find the beauty you are
When you open your heart and believe in
When you believe in
When you believe
In the gift of a friend
"Max, that was beautiful" said Nudge.
"I wrote another song for your birthday but I'll play it on your birthday" I say. She nods.
"What is going on with you and Fang?" she asked.
"That's for me to know and for you to, dot dot dot" I say mischievously. She frowns. "How are the guys going to react to you being friends with me, again?" I ask nervously. Trying to change the subject I didn't want to talk to her about Fang. I didn't even know what was going on with us.
"I don't know" she answered truthfully. "Iggy said he has a surprise for you tomorrow, I think he's forgiven you. He told me he misses his best friend. He really depressed all the time. Ethan acts like you don't exist but everyone else is really missing you." she assured me.
After a lot of resistance I had finally been stuffed into my red carpet dress. The dress was very beautiful but I felt extremely awkward in it. When it came to shoes I put my foot down. I refused to wear high heels. They are a male invention designed to make it harder to runaway. I got Jae Hwa to agree I can wear my white Converse; because if I couldn't wear my Converse, I would go down the carpet bare foot.
Jae Hwa and Raven had ambushed me in home to make sure I went to the event "presentable". They threw in the shower. Waxed my legs and underarms. They trimmed my hair and "pampered" me for I asked why there weren't torturing Nudge, they simply said that Nudge trustworthy when it came to dressing up and I wasn't. To prove there point I put up a good fight for dress but eventually gave in due to it being such a great dress.
The dress was a light, mint green with white polka dots. At my waist was a thick, silk, mint green sash. The dress flared out from the waist and ended at my calves. Under the dress was a white petticoat. Sticking to the 50's theme I was wearing nude stockings strapped to a nude garter belt.
However my makeup was minimalist. I had on natural eyeshadow blending with white and some mascara. I had on lip balm. My hair had been brushed to give it the messy, easy look. I had run my hands through my hair a couple of times to give it my desire look. My nails had been painted a matt black.
My accessories were relatively simple. I had a skull and crown brooch. Green agate drop earrings, mint green, rose, stud earrings. A pearl necklace, rock bangles set and a 'wrist are for bracelets' rubber bracelet. To top off the whole outfit I had a pair of gothic, lace, ivory gloves.
There was ten minutes before I needed to jump into the limo and go to the event. Nudge had shown up five minutes prior and looked absolutely stunning. Like an emerald gem.
She an emerald green cocktail dress. The dress was completely sequins encrusted until the waist; where the dress puffed out due to a fern green petticoat. The skirt of the dress smooth but had several sequined leaf patterns. It had a square neckline. Under the dress she had on a pair of black fish net stockings. She wore emerald-green, Brigitte pumps.
Nudge had accessorize with an emerald green, gum drop necklace; a pair of emerald-green drop earrings and a diamante flower & emerald delicate bracelet. Her hair had been left in its natural curly state. Her make up was simple with lip balm. On her eyes was dark brown eyeshadow, kohl eyeliner and thick black mascara.
She said she didn't want to go stag and wanted to be my wing woman. She seemed to be in good spirits as she usually is about events. I on the other hand felt extremely nervous. This was going to be the first time I was seeing all my ex-friends in months. But I also felt nervous about seeing Fang.
Fang's POV
(Last Night while Max couldn't sleep)
"Fang!" someone shouted. I took out my earphones and turn to find Iggy standing there goofily grinning at me. "What are you doing here?" he asked.
"Well, sometimes I like to hang around the JFK baggage claim... for fun" I check my watch. "At 1am, because I couldn't be sleeping at this time" I say my voice dripping with sarcasm.
"Ha ha, I see your still the same old Fang. Who are you waiting for?" he said cheerfully.
"A Munchkin and a sloth" I say cryptically. Iggy face twists into confusion and he opens his mouth to say something. When he is inturpted by the munchkin herself.
"Hey! I'm not a munchkin. I'm average height" she said yelled at me as she approached. It still amazed me how her hearing was so sharp. She had bat ears. I took the last few steps between us. I grabbed into a huge bear hug and spun her around. Once I had placed her back on the ground; I caught sight of the sloth. He tiredly stumbled towards us. He looked like he was woken from a deep sleep; which knowing him, he probably has.
"Sloth" I say. He smiles but doesn't say anything. He gives me a man-hug. I turn back around to Iggy.
Iggy looked like he was in a state of shock. It was rare for me to show emotion. Even rarer for me to show affection. "Iggy, this is Munchkin and Sloth. Munchkin and sloth, this is Iggy" I say calmly.
"Hey Iggy, my name's not really Munchkin, it's Aurora, but you can call me Aura, Rory or Rora. Rora is my personal favourite but some people find it hard to say. His name's Seth, but it might as well be Sloth. We are Fang's younger brother and sister." Aurora rambles. I roll my eyes at her. How can she be so unlike me and Seth. She's like a little Nudge. Which is not a good thing. She doesn't silence, it makes her uncomfortable.
Aurora is 18 and very beautiful. Her face is small and reminds me of a cat. She has the same lightly tanned complexion as me. Her hair is dark brown and almost black, but in the sun it is tinted brown; she had pulled it back into a braid (AN: Aurora looks like a cross in-between Nicole Anderson, Adriana Lima and Josie Loren). Although her eyes are a shocking gold; like our fathers. When she was born our mother said her eyes reminded her of dawn. The first bright rays of sun. Our parents agreed apon the name Aurora. She decided to take a year off before she goes to University. By doing this she has free time to travel and bother Sloth and I. For once she was dressed casually. She had on an oversized jumper underneath an oversized black hoodie, pale blue skinny jeans, a pair of black Vans Era and a Alice in Wonderland slouch backpack. Around her neck sat ocean blue headphones. Her large Stella McCartney eyeglasses slightly askew; I suspected from sleeping on the plane. But somehow she still had perfect eyeliner. I frowned. She shouldn't be wearing eyeliner; she's too young for make up.
Seth is 21 years old. He looks a lot like me with same skin tone as Aurora and I. (AN: Seth looks more like Avan Jogia than Fang does) His hair longer than mine at chin length. His eyes are a mixture of gold, silver and blue, but you rarely see his eyes anyway. Seth was born tired. He always sleeps. He literally slept through all his lessons from every schools he's attended; including nursery. Yet, he graduated early with a Masters in Fine Arts. He is lazy by default. He was dressed casually as usual. He wore a white and black ragan t-shirt underneath a Dr. Who hoodie, black jeans, black All-Stars and a star print black backpack. Around his neck was a pair of 'Poke-phones' headphones. In his hands were a white PSP and 'Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas' book.
I suddenly noticed neither had picked up their Luggage before coming to find me. I quickly steered them towards the baggage claim station and Iggy tagged along. "So... Iggy, What are you doing here?" I ask. The luggage had not been loaded on to the claim yet.
"Oh! Yeah! Bro! I forgot to tell you I'm here to pick up-"
"Iggy!" two girls squeal. One was champagne blonde and the other was a ombre brunette. They both looked oddly familiar. Iggy smiled and wave them over. They rushed towards us. Iggy went over to them to give them a hug. But the blonde punched him in the shoulder.
"Ow, What was that for?" said Iggy surprised. Iggy tenderly rubbed his shoulder; to soothe the pain.
"For what you did to Max," replied the blonde. Iggy nodded in understanding. Then suddenly the brunette punched him in the other shoulder.
"Ow, Now, what was that for?" Iggy said in agony.
"For making me pack so hastily. I'm a girl. We need time to pack. We don't just throw anything in," said the brunette. Aurora gave the girl a high-five.
"Okay, okay, I've been a jerk. I'm sorry" said Iggy. The blonde punched him again. "Was that for the packing situation because I said I was sorry" Iggy squeaked in agony. The blonde shook her head. "Then, what was it for?"
"It was for fun" replied the blonde. I recognised who the girls were. They have a love for violence. They are loyal to Max. They look oddly familiar. They're Max's sisters.
"Angel? Ella?" I say.
"Yep, Hi Fang" both of them say.
"Wow! I haven't seen you two in ages you look so different. What are you doing here?" I ask.
Angel was dressed so much like Max. She a blue 'Weird' tee, a pair of light blue, acid wash, skinny jeans; white All-Stars, a dark blue, oversized hoodie and a dark blue backpack. She had left her hair down with two small braid in the front. Her blonde hair reach her tiny waist. In one of her ears was a blue earphone; which was connected to her iPhone in her hand. In her other hand was holding 'Perks of Being a Wallflower' copy. Her appearance lived up to her name. Angel had large, innocent blue eyes and a child-like face. (AN: Angel looks like a cross in-between Emilia Clarke, Shailene Woodley, AnnaSophia Robb and Ariana Grande) She had the same complexion as Maya.
Ella was dressed similar to Angel. She wore a black camisole tank, a pair of mid-blue, acid wash, skinny jeans; black All-Stars, a black voyager backpack and had an oversized, magic mushroom gypsy, blend hoodie tied around her waist. She also had one black earphone in and a was carrying a 'We need to talk about Kevin' copy in her hands. Her mostly brown, curly hair been braided. Going from brown to caramel to blonde. Her skin tone is slightly more tanned than Max's. Ella has big green-hazel eyes and a pretty face. (AN: Ella looks like a cross in-between Ariana Grande, Shailene Woodley, Emilia Clarke and Blanca Suárez)
"Iggy asked us to come" said Ella.
"We're meant to be a surprise for Max. Also an apology to Max" said Angel.
"That reminds me..." I say. I smack Iggy across the back of the head. "That's for breaking into my apartment" I say.
"Again, Ow! What is it, hit Iggy day?" Iggy yells.
"No, It's hit the douche-bag day" Ella counters. Angel high fives her.
"Fang? Are you not going to introduce us?" Aurora whispers to me. I shake my head. "Why not?" she hisses.
"Because you already know them by Charlie and Ellie" I state. She gasps and runs to tackle them into a bear hug.
"OMG! Charlie? Ellie? I haven't seen you in ages. Do you remember me because I remember you. Ellie, aren't you meant to be studying in England? How come you never visited me? Charlie, I haven't seen you since you went back to being home-schooled. How have you been?" She shouts.
"Oh my doughnut, Is that you, Rora?"asks Angel. Aurora nods. They all scream uncontrollably and screech incoherent things at each other while bouncing up and down. The sound is deafening and incredibly irritating. They seemingly forget completely about us guys and wander towards the car park; still yapping at each other. "Aurora?" says Sloth, speaking for the first time.
She turns her head and yells "Can you get my bags for me?"
"And ours" Angel and Ella chorus.
"We're not mules!" Iggy yells. Nevertheless, they carry on walking; not even saying bye. We collectively let out a sigh.
We now juggle in between us:
- Aurora's 3 large, hot pink trunks
- Angel's 2 medium, blue suitcases and blue tote duffel bag
- Ella's medium, quilted, black suitcase; spotted, black Kipling duffel bag and black, frame wheeled, black bag
- Seth's small black suitcase and black duffel bag.
What we're them girls thinking? They're here to visit. Not live. The amount packed was completely illogical and unrealistic. I only invited Aurora to stay for couple of weeks. Not forever. The only way they could get through this amount of clothing was if they changed three times a day at least. We finally crawl (under the weight of the bags) to the parking lot.
We get into our separate cars. Angel and Ella were saying at Iggy and Gazzy's house, so they could surprise Max at the event, tonight. I wished them luck. Iggy and Gazzy were the worst people to live with. Even if its only for a night.
Gazzy prides himself on the fact he can fart 'A Stairway to Heaven' which is an 8 minute song. He also can burp the alphabet. Both are torture to endure. Iggy considers himself a prank king and a pyromaniac. They literally don't wash for two weeks every other month, unless they are meeting fans. Every cleaner they've ever had has quit due to disgust.
The goodbye between Angel, Ella and Aurora was the longest bye I have ever witnessed. They were like they were never going to see each other again.
(10 minutes before Nudge meets up with Max to go the event)
I was piercing my cufflinks into my white shirt; when I heard a sharp knock at my apartment door. I was confused. I was pretty sure I wasn't going to event with anyone. I walked towards door. I heard a quicker knock. It was more urgent. I looked through the spyglass. It was Nudge. She was pacing back and forth infront of the door. She looks agitated, which was a strange look on her. I hestiantly opened the door. Nudge sighed, a sigh of relief.
"What are you doing at my house?" I ask cautiously.
"You know, I've been getting that a lot, lately." she replied.
"Maybe, you should stop showing up at people's houses, unannounced. It would probably solve that problem," I counter.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'll think about it. Here" she said as she handed me a flat box. The box was black and relatively small. It was an oblong shape.
"What's this?" I questioned.
"The reason why I'm here. Please open it, now" she said excitedly. I hestiated. "It won't explode. Trust me. I wouldn't be standing here still if it was" she continued. I slowly lifted the lid. Under the lid was a folded piece of mint green material. "Ta-Dah! It's a tie and you have to wear it tonight" She looked down at my shirt. "Thank goodness you wearing a white shirt. I'm doing this to get back on Max's good side... I know she gets a little revengeful. Even after she's forgiven someone. She knows things about me that I don't want the whole world to know. The last time we had a bump in our relationship she wrote the songs 'Low', 'Backstabber' and 'Better Than Revenge' about when I slept with her then Boyfriend, Tommy. Anyway, off topic. I know she likes you and you like her. So, MAN THE FUCK UP. GROW A FUCKING BALLSACK, AND BLOODY TALK TO HER. Or your gonna spend the rest of your life thinking 'What if'... I know it's hard to tell if she is asking something due to curiousity. I know that you're patient enough to wait for her, forever. But Max responses to action. I know you're being fucking timid, in fear of losing her again but right now. You're on the fast track to become her maid of honour. And I'm sorry; but I'm not giving up that postion without a fight. I know that you wrote the song 'Just Friends' about her. If you want the happy ending then you have to grab it... The tie is the same colour as Max's dress. WEAR IT," she declared. I blink at her.
"I'll wear it... Thank you, Nudge" I mumur.
"Okay, I gotta run. Oh, Yeah, before I forget keep Max away from Ethan." she said seriously.
"Why?" I ask.
"After Max hears the songs he sings about her... She gonna try to kill him. Prevent that, please." she divulges.
"Why would I save Ethan?" I asked in disgust.
"Because Max doesn't want him dead. She will just think that she does. You're not saving Ethan. You're protecting Max from herself. I really can't talk anymore. I have to go now or I will end up going to the event by myself. Austin wants to go with you. He shuld be here in 5 minutes. Remember, I was never here. You didn't see or hear anything from me. OK, Bye" she says. She waves at me then walks into the elevator and disappears. I stand there frozen. How Nudge know all that information? It seems all that gossiping has finally paid off. I shut the door and walk back to my bedroom. I stand in the mirror struggling to tie my new tie. There was a light knock on bedroom door before it swung open revealing Aurora.
"Need some help," she asked shyly.
"Yeah. I still can't tie a tie" I say defeated. She walks further into the room until directly in front of me. She quietly fiddled with my tie.
"So... are you going to tell Max?" she asked.
"Were you listening to Nudge?" I ask.
"Not on purpose but yes. I think she's right. Don't you remember high school, when Max finally brought you out of your shell and got you start talking. I knew you two were going to end up together then. Everyone did. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news but we all placed bets on when you finally would. Seth and Dad owe Mom and I $200. Since you did have a relationship but in secret. Mom and me bet you would date in 4 years. You dated in three." she said.
"It's nice to know my family bets on my life" I say sarcastically.
Max's POV
(The Event)
The carpet was packed with uncomfortable musician in vintage 50's clothing. I was one of them. Nudge had forced me to stay on the carpet, pose for pictures and sign autographs for my adoring fans. Most of my fans gasped in shock because usually I hurry down the carpet as fast as possible. The only time I sign posters and ablums are at the meets. I rarely ever take pictures on the carpet because I don't care what I wear and others shouldn't care either.
Nudge on the other hand loved pictures. She was pretty and knew it. She owned her body. I was awkward. My body owned me.
When we got on to the Ethan and Jason were already there. The fans insisted we take a band photo. Somehow I ended up in between Ethan and Jason. The order from left to right was Nudge, Jason, Me and Ethan. Apart from Nudge we had all plastered fake smiles on our faces. Our arms draped over each other shoulders and waists. The fans and photographs went into a picture frenzy. The flashes were contast and blinding. "I guess you and Nudge are friends again" said Ethan not breaking his smile.
"Yes" I said through clenched teeth.
"Are you going to apologise to me?" asked Ethan.
"For what?" I hiss out.
"Lying to me and being a hypocrite slash (/) awful friend" he states.
"Over my dead body" I say.
"Then listen to every word I sing" he replies. We finally apart. Jason and Ethan go inside while Nudge insists we stay outside and wait for the arrival of Fang and Austin. I busy myself with signing autographs. Nudge carries on posing for the cameras. Five minutes later there is excited flurry from the entrance of the red carpet. Signaling a new arrival. I hears chants of fans. "PRPB" they chant. I roll my eyes and continue sign arms and foreheads. Nudge comes to stand next to me.
"I think Iggy and Gazzy are here" she whispers to me. I open my mouth to reply sarcastically but suddenly Nudge and I grabbed at the waist and spun around. Nudge yelps. I am stunned into silence. They put us back on the ground. I spin around to see Iggy and Gazzy grinning goofily at us. I punch Iggy in the shoulder.
"Ow!" he yells.
"Don't sneak up on me" I state. The crowd starts to mumur. I am tapped on the shoulder. I turn around to see Angel and Ella standing behind me. I gasp and pull them into a huge hug. I haven't seen them in forever. I pull back to take a good look at them. They have definitely grown up.
Ella was wearing a white floral dress with blue flowers and green stems. There was a blue sash tied into a bow on the small of her back. At the hem of her dress a white petticoat peeked out. She wore french white stockings and dainty blue converses. She wore various pieces of jewelry in tone of blue, white and green. She had on bold eyeliner and lip balm. Her hair was down in its natural wave pattern. She looked stunning.
Angel looked equally as stunning as Ella. She was wear a baby blue silk chiffon dress. On the bodice was fitted and had an intricate beaded sequin lace design. Under the skirt of the dress was a white petticoat and a pair of embellished metallic tights. On her feet were a pair of white era core Vans. Her was shades of blue, white and silver. She had on winged eyeliner, mascara and rose lip balm. Her hair was in a romantic twisted hairstyle.
Both dresses looked familiar. This was when I realised that Jae Hwa had known that they were coming to the event. She made them these dresses. The dresses fitted them perfectly. I finally broke out of revelry.
"What are you guys doing here?" I ask surprised.
"Iggy invited us to surprise you" said Ella. I was shocked. I turn back around and pull Iggy into a fierce hug.
"Thank you" I whisper into his ear. "... But if you ever grab me again. You won't have hands to grab with"
We went inside to catch up. It turns out Ella was on study leave. Because she has decided to take her exams in January. She planned on dragging Maya, Angel and I to ours Parents house in New Hampshire for holidays. She was also trying to convince me that it was a good idea to take a family road trip to the house for a civilised Thanksgiving and Christmas. I couldn't spend that much time with Maya. I would probably end up in jail for murder.
Ella is still her preppy self. I often wonder how she always smiling and cheerful. It was a miracle she didn't end up like Maya. A slut. She's nice and rarely has a bad word to say about anyone. Ella is working on her LL.M. Law degree at Cambridge. Being the middle child she had learn to argue her way out of anything. And with a I am so proud of her but so is Dad. He's happy that she's not "throwing away" her academic career to focus on music; unlike everybody else in the family had done. Dad had a dubbed her 'fornuftig' which is Danish for sensible. Mum is also proud of her. Ella is proof that her parenting style works. And Maya is proof that it's 50/50 chance.
Angel is taking a gap year from Conservatoire de Paris to see if she really wanted to continue her masters in music. She really doubts her abilities which is weird because she is amazing. She has been training classically on most instruments since she was able to walk. She has mastered the violin, the cello and the harp the best but is almost perfect in every other instrument. She also majors in dance. Specifically ballet. Two years ago she was offered a place at ABC Ballet School: she turned it down to pursue a degree in France.
Angel is a lot like me. She's a bit of a weirdo. I wonder how she can read people so well. Sometimes think Dad was right in trying to make her a Pyschologist. She would make an excellent therapist. But she wanted to do Music because quote unquote 'I can't sit in a room listening to they're problems. I have my own problems to worry about'. I don't know how but Ella and Angel actually like Maya and treat her like a sister and her vice versa. It seemed Maya and I were the only two who refused to get along.
The venue was extremely formal. At the back of the large room was a low stage. On the stage was a small orchestra, playing a soft contemporary piece in the background. Also on stage was a grand piano and several other abandoned instruments which I presume were for the bands performing later. Everyone at the event was dressed impeccably in vintage suits and dresses. The event itself was a private affair which meant you had to be invited this also meant there were no fans. But to compromise the entire week was televised.
The stage floor was glossy black and framing the stage were thick golden drapes. The room itself was white walls with gold trimming. Around the room were circular tables with black cloth on top. Each table had 8 seats surrounding and little cards indicating names. My table was to the left of the stage. On my table (according to the cards) was Ella, Angel, Nudge, Austin, Fang, someone named Seth and someone else named Aurora. Although currently it was just Ella, Angel and I. And apparently no one in my family knew what TMI was.
"MAX! MAX!" shouted someone behind me. I turned around to see Fang standing behind me with a beautiful girl to his left and a handsome boy whom was to his right. The girl beamed at me bouncing on the balls of her feet. The guy looked practically asleep until suddenly he jumped alert as if someone had pinched him; which I suspected the girl had. Fang grin at me lazily. I was shocked. "Hello Max, How are you?" said Fang nervously. He was talking to me. In public. What do I do? Act natural... How do you act natural? Reply. Yeah, reply.
"Fine" I say. I got this acting natural thing down to a 't'. 'Fine' because its only correct answer to 'how are you?'. I deserve a pat on the back. His gorgeous lips are moving again. They look really kissable. Oh my Doughnut! his tie is the exact same colour as my dress. It looks like we coordinated. But the only people that coordinate are weird couples and the Unholy Trinity. Wait! His lips stopped moving and looking me for a reply. Damn it. I wasn't listening. I can't let him know I wasn't listening. I had two options. Option one: I shrug. Option two: I smile and nod. I shrug because shrugs mean indifference. Someone please save me.
"Max, Max, Max!" an annoying voice pesters me.
"Yes, Tony" I sighed, although I have never been more happy to hear his voice.
"Jae Hwa needs you backstage to get ready for your duet with Dylan."
"Wait, We're performing first? Why wasn't I told this earlier? I wouldn't of turned up" I question.
"You would of been inform if you bothered to turn up to any of the mandatory meetings we had about the arrangement" Tony insisted.
"Those were mandatory? I thought they were optional" I counter.
"Just go, Max" Tony snaps. I don't reply and stamped away. I worried about leaving Fang with my family. Who knew what they would say to him. Off the right side of the stage was a corridor filled with dressing rooms. I knew Jae Hwa would be in the one that said Max.
"Welcome Guests to the 40th anniversary of TLG Records" says a very excitable host, Jack Frost. The crowd woops and cheers. "Now before we get this tribute night started we have a very special performance from Max Ride and Dylan Grinch." Jack yelled through the microphone. The crowd cheered and gasped in surprise. I rolled my eyes. The room was buzzing with whispers and chatter. It was weird having people you didn't know, know about your private life. Jack continued; talking over the gossiping room. "This is going to be the first time they will be singing live together. And they have an extra special treat because they're doing all four songs from there new EP. The EP is called 'The Prentitous Death of DAX' it's out on November 5th. Now, I introduce to you Max and Dylan!" he shouted. The crowd applauded. Dylan and I walked out on stage from opposited wings. I gracefully sit on the stool at the grand piano. Dylan picks up the guitar from it's stand. We adjust ourselfs while the audience waits silently.
"Hi, everyone" said Dylan into his mic. "I'm gonna keep it real. We were forced to do this EP. Some of the songs we wanted to put on the EP didn't make the cut. Due to them being inappropriate and that none of them were duets." he finished the crowd chuckled.
"This EP is for the DAX fans." I state. A waiter suddenly appears on stage with what I requested earlier. "Oh, Thank you" I say as they back away leaving my tray on the lid of the piano. On the tray was large bottle of tequila and four shot glasses. "As I was saying this EP is for the fans because its hardest thing I've had to do. I mean, Do you how hard it was to find anyway redeeming qualities about Dylan? Anywho, this is the end." I say. I get and pour two shot glasses. I hand one to Dylan. "Cheers"
"Cheers" he says as we clink glasses and quickly knock back the shots. I pour another two shots. "We have moved on. Were not bitter anymore. We just have pure unadulterated hatred for each other. Which is one of the few things we agree on" he continued. We clink our glasses again and knock it back.
"However, to do these songs we do need some help from some people." I say as I feel the tequila starting to take effect. I start to relax alittle. And Dylan being the light weight he is; was fully relaxed after the first shot. "We need Jason on drums and Iggy on bass. Come on up here, guys" I say. They come up on stage looking confused but nonetheless set them self up. I sit down at the piano and pop my knuckles. I nod at Dylan to indicate I'm ready.
"This first one is 'Easy'" says Dylan. We start to play with Iggy and Jason following our lead.
Dylan (Italics), Max (Bold), Both (Bold Italics)
We broke up
yeah, it's tough
most guys would've been crushed
Wastin' their time
Wonderin' where they went wrong
No way, not me
Hey, I'm doing just fine
I'm not afraid of movin' on
It's easy going out on a Friday night
Easy every time I see her out
I can smile, live it up
The way a single guy does
But what she, what she don't know
Is how hard it is to make it look so
Easy
The truth is
That I miss lyin' in those arms of his
But I don't ever let it show
I laugh and I act like
I'm having the time of my life
as far as he knows
It's easy goin' out on a Friday night
Easy, everytime I see him out
I can smile, live it up
The way a single girl does
But, what he, what he don't know
is how hard it is to make it look so
Easy
Oh, it's easy
Oh, it's easy goin' out on a Friday night
Oh, it's easy every time I see him out
I can smile, live it up
Forget about the way it was
But what she
Oh, what he don't know
What she don't know
Is how hard it is to make it look so
Easy
Look so easy
The audience applaud. I get up and this time pour four shots. I hand one to Iggy, one to Jason and one to Dylan. We all knock them back. The crowd laughs at eagger we were to down the shots. I pour myself another one because the next song was about not wanting to say goodbye. There was nothing I wanted more than saying goodbye to Dylan. I quickly down the shot. "This one is called 'Let Me Go'" I say as back down at the piano.
Love that once hung on the wall
Used to mean something, but now it means nothing
The echoes are gone in the hall
But I still remember, the pain of December
Oh, there isn't one thing left you could say
I'm sorry it's too late
I'm breaking free from these memories
Gotta let it go, just let it go
I've said goodbye
Set it all on fire
Gotta let it go, just let it go
You came back to find I was gone
And that place is empty,
Like the hole that was left in me
Like we were nothing at all
It's not what you meant to me
Thought we were meant to be
Oh, there isn't one thing left you could say
I'm sorry it's too late
I'm breaking free from these memories
Gotta let it go, just let it go
I've said goodbye
Set it all on fire
Gotta let it go, just let it go
I let it go and now I know
A brand new life is down this road
And when it's right, you always know
So this time I won't let go
There's only one thing left here to say
Love's never too late
I've broken free from those memories
I've let it go, I've let it go
And two goodbyes led to this new life
Don't let me go, don't let me go
Don't let me go, don't let me go, don't let me go
Won't let you go, don't let me go
Won't let you go, don't let me go
"This is for couples whom are on the brink and or going through a truly bad break-up. It's about change. This one is called 'Before The Storm'" I say as the applause dies down.
I know this isn't what I wanted,
Never thought it'd come this far,
Just thinking back to where we started
& how we lost all that we are
We were young & times were easy,
But I could see it's not the same.
I'm standing here but you don't see me,
I'd give it all for that to change.
And I dont want to lose her,
I dont want to let her go.
I'm standing out in the rain,
I need to know if its over,
Cause I will leave you alone.
Flooded with all this pain,
Knowing that I'll never hold her,
Like I did before the storm
And with every strike of lightning
Comes a memory that lasts
Not a word is left unspoken as the thunder starts to crash
Maybe I should give up
I'm standing out in the rain,
I need to know if its over,
Cause I will leave you alone.
Flooded with all this pain,
Knowing that I'll never hold her,
Like I did before the storm
Trying to keep the light from going in
And the clouds from ripping out my broken heart.
We always say a heart is not whole without the one who gets you through the storm.
Standing out in the rain, knowing that it's really over- please don't leave me alone
Flooded with all this pain, knowing that I'll never hold you, like I did before the storm
"What can I say about the next song? It's actually my favourite on the EP. It was mainly written by Max and it's called 'What Can I Say?'" said Dylan.
Piercing words, eyes are red
Watched your tail lights in the rain
Empty heart filled with regret
I know we were both to blame
And I'm not sorry that it's over
But for the way we let it end
So I said all I had to say
In letters that I threw away
And you should know, please believe me
I've picked up the phone a thousand times
And tried to dial your number
But it's been so long, it's never easy
It's like trying to spin the world the other way
What can I say?
How did it come to this?
I think about you all the time
It's no excuse, but i wish
That I never made you cry
I'm not sorry that it's over
But for the way we let it end
I couldn't find the words to say
And you should know, please believe me
I've picked up the phone a thousand times
And tried to dial your number
But it's been so long, it's never easy
It's like trying to spin the world the other way
So what can I say? What can I say?
What can I say? What can I say?
I hate to think all you had of me
(I said all I had to say)
Is a memory I left you
The space between what was meant to be
(In letters that I threw away)
And the mess that it turned into
And you should know, please believe me
I've picked up the phone a thousand times
And tried to dial your number
But it's been so long, it's never easy
It's like trying to spin the world the other way
It's like trying to spin the world the other way
What can I say?
What can I say?
What can I say?
"Would say it's been a pleasure but I would be lying?" I say as the applause dies down.
Iggy's POV
"I dedicate this cover to Max. I know it's one of your favourite Beatles songs" I say while catching Max's eye in the crowd. She half-smiles at me. 'I'm sorry' I at her and wink.
Iggy (Italics), Jack (Bold), Both (Bold Italics), Max (Underlined), All (Bold Italics Underlined)
What would you do if I sang out of tune
Would you stand up and walk out on me?
Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song
And I'll try not to sing out of key
Oh I get by with a little help from my friends
Mm he gets high with a little help from his friends
Mm going to try with a little help from my friends
What do I do when my love is away?
(Does it worry you to be alone?)
How do I feel by the end of the day?
(Are you sad because you're on your own?)
No I get by with a little help from my friends
Mm I get high with a little help from my friends
Mm going to try with a little help from my friends
(Do you need anybody?)
I need somebody to love
(Could it be anybody?)
I want somebody to love
(Would you believe in a love at first sight?)
Yes I'm certain that it happens all the time
(What do you see when you turn out the light?)
I can't tell you, but I know it's mine
Oh I get by with a little help from my friends
Mm I get high with a little help from my friends
Oh I'm going to try with a little help from my friends
"Sing it, Max" I shout as Jack plays the guitar riff. Throughout the performance Max had been sing along. She grinned at and hurried up on to stage as I held the mic out for her.
(Do you need anybody?)
I just need somebody to love
(Could it be anybody?)
I want somebody to love
Oh I get by with a little help from my friends
Mm going to try with a little help from my friends
Oh I get high with a little help from my friends
Yes I get by with a little help from my friends
With a little help from my friends
Max laughed while the crowd cheered. I held out my fist in front of me, she rolled but fist bumped me anyway. She walked off the stage towards the dressing rooms where I see Jae Hwa beckoning her. "Okay, this next one is called 'Nine in the Afternoon'" I state as Max disappears into a doorway.
Back to the street where we began
Feeling as good as lovers can, you know
Yeah we're feeling so good
Pickin' up things we shouldn't read
It looks like the end of history as we know
It's just the end of the world
Back to the street where we began
Feeling as good as love, you could, you can
Into a place where thoughts can bloom
Into a room where it's nine in the afternoon
And we know that it could be
And we know that it should
And you know that you feel it too
'Cause it's nine in the afternoon
And your eyes are the size of the moon
You could 'cause you can so you do
We're feeling so good
just the way that we do
When it's nine in the afternoon
Your eyes are the size of the moon
You could 'cause you can so you do
We're feeling so good
Back to the street
Down to our feet
Losing the feeling of feeling unique
Do you know what I mean?
Back to the place
Where we used to say
Man it feels good to feel this way
Now I know what I mean
Back to the street, back to the place,
Back to the room where it all began, hey
Back to the room where it all began
'Cause it's nine in the afternoon
Your eyes are the size of the moon
You could 'cause you can so you do
We're feeling so good
Just the way that we do
When it's nine in the afternoon
Your eyes are the size of the moon
You could 'cause you canso you do
We're feeling so good
Just the way that we do
When it's nine in the afternoon
Your eyes are the size of the moon
You could 'cause you can so you do
We're feeling so good
Just the way that we do
When it's nine in the afternoon
"This next one is my personal favourite Beatles song-" I am intrupted by Gazzy.
"That's because as the song states you need help" says Gazzy. The audience laughs.
"I need no more help than you do, brother. As I was this next on is 'Help!'" I finished, the audience burst out laughing at our banter.
Help, I need somebody
Help, not just anybody
Help, you know I need someone, help
When I was younger (So much younger than) so much younger than today
(I never needed) I never needed anybody's help in any way
(Now) But now these days are gone (These days are gone), I'm not so self assured
(I know I've found) Now I find I've changed my mind and opened up the doors
Help me if you can, I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being 'round
Help me get my feet back on the ground
Won't you please, please help me
(Now) And now my life has changed in oh so many ways
(My independence) My independence seems to vanish in the haze
(But) But every now (Every now and then) and then I feel so insecure
(I know that I) I know that I just need you like I've never done before
Help me if you can, I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being 'round
Help me get my feet back on the ground
Won't you please, please help me
When I was younger so much younger than today
I never needed anybody's help in any way
(But) But now these days are gone (These days are gone), I'm not so self assured
(I know I've found) Now I find I've changed my mind and opened up the doors
Help me if you can, I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being round
Help me, get my feet back on the ground
Won't you please, please help me, help me, help me, ooh
"This song reminds of the day Gazzy was born. It was such a sad day-" I said dramatically.
"Fuck you, Iggy" grumpled Gazzy over the laughter.
"This is why I believed in yesterday and adopton at the tender age of 2. Oh, those two years without Gazzy were the best years of my life. Granted I did have my sister but when Gazzy was born everthing seemed to just get worst-" I continued. I struggled to keep a straight face.
"Shut up and sing the song already, Iggy" Gazzy shouted over the hysterical laughter of the crowd. Gazzy face was priceless.
"Fine, this is 'Yesterday'" I laughed.
Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away
Now it looks as though they're here to stay
Oh, I believe in yesterday
Suddenly, I'm not half the man I used to be
There's a shadow hanging over me.
Oh, yesterday came suddenly
Why she had to go I don't know she wouldn't say
I said something wrong, now I long for yesterday
Yesterday, love was such an easy game to play
Now I need a place to hide away
Oh, I believe in yesterday
Why she had to go I don't know she wouldn't say
I said something wrong, now I long for yesterday
Yesterday, love was such an easy game to play
Now I need a place to hide away
Oh, I believe in yesterday
Mm mm mm mm mm mm mm
"Gazzy gonna take the lead on the next two songs. This one's called 'Numb/Encore'" I say dryly.
Gazzy (Italics), Iggy (Bold), Iggy & Jack (Bold Underlined), Jack (Underlined)
Thank you, thank you, thank you, you're far too kind
Now can I get an encore, do you want more
Cookin raw with the Brooklyn boy
So for one last time I need y'all to roar
Now what the hell are you waitin for
After me, there shall be no more
So for one last time, make some noise
Get em Gaz
Who you know fresher than Hov'? Riddle me that
The rest of y'all know where I'm lyrically at
Can't none of y'all mirror me back
Yeah hearin me rap is like hearin G. Rap in his prime
I'm, young H.O., rap's Grateful Dead
Back to take over the globe, now break bread
I'm in, Boeing jets, Global Express
Out the country but the blueberry still connect
On the low but the yacht got a triple deck
But when you Young, what the fuck you expect? Yep, yep
Grand openin, grand closin
God damn your man Hov' cracked the can open again
Who you gon' find doper than him with no pen
just draw off inspiration
Soon you gon' see you can't replace him
with cheap imitations for DESE GENERATIONS
Now can I get an encore, do you want more
Cookin raw with the Brooklyn boy
So for one last time I need y'all to roar
Now what the hell are you waitin for
After me, there shall be no more
So for one last time, nigga make some noise
What the hell are you waiting for
[sighs] Look what you made me do, look what I made for you
Knew if I paid my dues, how will they pay you
When you first come in the game, they try to play you
Then you drop a couple of hits, look how they wave to you
From Marcy to Madison Square
To the only thing that matters in just a matter of years (yea)
As fate would have it, Gazzy's status appears
to be at an all-time high, perfect time to say goodbye
When I come back like Jordan, wearin the 4-5
It ain't to play games witchu
It's to aim at you, probably maim you
If I owe you I'm blowin you to smithereeens
Cocksucker take one for your team
And I need you to remember one thing (one thing)
I came, I saw, I conquered
From record sales, to sold out concerts
So muh'fucker if you want this encore
I need you to scream, 'til your lungs get sore
I'm tired of being what you want me to be
Feeling so faithless lost under the surface
Don't know what you're expecting of me
Put under the pressure of walking in your shoes
(Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow)
Every step that I take is another mistake to you
(Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow)
And every second I waste is more than I can take
I've become so numb I can't feel you there
I've become so tired so much more aware
I'm becoming this all I want to do
Is be more like me and be less like you
I've become so numb
Can I get an encore, do you want more (more...)
I've become so numb
So for one last time I need y'all to roar
One last time I need y'all to roar
"This one could be potential career suicide. I wrote this with Iggy and Jack a couple of weeks ago, it's called 'Lost Generation'" says Gazzy.
I said I'm living in a
Lost generation
I said I'm living in a
Lost generation
I've got my heart
I found my soul
I'm living, I'm living life man
Switch on the TV
They keep it real
But not in that way
I turn the channel
And just see somebody's life displayed
Awkward pauses and dodgy moments
I smile it keeps me sane
Reality TV is morphine
Give me that now let me ease the pain
(Oh yeah)
Man, talent shows
I seen some of our friends
Go and beat their targets
I've also seen careers end
When they ain't even really started
Jeremy Kyle got the nation laughing
At other people's expense
Somebody tell that guy that we hate him
Too, we are not his friends

We make people go

When I heard people buy views
I was more confused
Than all John Terry's black friends
Watch your mouth son

Oi big brothers in the house now yeah
I said screw the voting and talking
I just wanna see
People fight an have sex so let's say
Hey (hey)

I'm living, I'm living life
I've got my heart
I found my soul

I said I'm living in a

I said I'm living in a
Lost generation
I've got my heart
I found my soul
I'm living, I'm living
I'm living life man
I wanna dance
I wanna have fun
Let me feel the music
I hope you realize how dumb you sound
When you call us stupid
I wanna drive to work
Hear this beat and
Make my dreams come true
Keep it up man
A beat like this
Reminds my heart what to do
Salute
I want you to feel useless baby
That's right every bad boy should
And damn right I'm a slut
You know this
But I'm a boy it's all good
Take snaps of me I'm an icon
Standing here in my shades
Oi be someone
If you beg to be followed
Then you've lost your way

Why is everybody so PC
It's not my fault if you take offence
Watch your mouth son

What's wrong if a girl loves sex
It's only wrong if it's not with you
So maybe you should get better in bed
Say hey (hey)
I'm living, I'm living life man

I've got my heart

Gazzy and I hold breath waiting for there. The crowd suddenly erupts in cheers and gives us a standing ovation. I double high-fived Jack and Gazzy.
Max's POV
I have changed my outfit for the third time. This outfit was more me but still unnecessary. As the evening has progress I've been getting more and more tipsy. We are currently in the middle of a interlude. Because the event was going to be shown in two parts the interlude was 30 minutes long. I was sitting my table with Fang, Angel, Ella, Nudge, Austin, Seth and Aurora. I had since learned that Aurora and Seth were Fang's siblings.
Aurora went to the private all-girls school (Lorien High) with Angel and Ella for a while. She was apparently a big fan of mine. Fang had attempted to make her feel guilty by being mock annoyed. He later leaned over and whispered that he could ask for a better role model; to which I rolled my eyes at.
Seth had stayed in England and attend a private school there because his parents were divorced. He decided to stay with his dad whereas Rora and Fang moved to New York with there mom. In a few months he's moving to California to work as a Cartoonist for Pixar. Seth had only said few words to me but Fang and Rora was shocked I got him say anything.
Nudge and Austin are so lovey dovey it makes me sick but Nudge seems alittle off. Jumpy. Nervous.
"Welcome to the Part 2 of the 40th anniversary for TLG Records" said Jack Frost. He paused waiting the cheers to die down "Up next is the awesome band... RWC! Please enjoy," he finished. He walked the stage briskly as entered. We quickly adjusted ourselves. This time I was back to playing my guitar.
"Hey everyone... Again" I say awkwardly. "For this first one I need help from my talented little sister, Angel" I say. Angel timidly makes her way to the stage. Her eyes wide with fear. She stands next me. I pass her a violin. "Do you know chords for 'Eleanor Rigby'?" I ask away from the microphone. She nods and I give her a small smile. "Can you sing with me?" I ask. She nods again. I move my mic stand between us. "Relax" I whisper in her ear. "This first one is 'Eleanor Rigby'" I say into the mic and the crowd cheers. Angel starts to play the intro perfectly.
Max (Italics), Angel (Bold), Both (Bold Italics)
Ah, look at all the lonely people
Ah, look at all the lonely people
Eleanor Rigby picks up the rice in the church where a wedding has been
Lives in a dream
Waits at the window, wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door
Who is it for?
All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong?
Father McKenzie writing the words of a sermon that no one will hear
No one comes near
Look at him working, darning his socks in the night when there's nobody there
What does he care?
All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong?
Ah, look at all the lonely people
Ah, look at all the lonely people
Eleanor Rigby died in the church and was buried along with her name
Nobody came
Father McKenzie wiping the dirt from his hands as he walks from the grave
No one was saved
All the lonely people (Ah, look at all the lonely people)
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people (Ah, look at all the lonely people)
Where do they all belong?
"Give it up for Angel" I shout into the mic. The audience claps, enthusiastic. Angel grins. "You can go and sit down now if you want" I whisper to her. She nods gratefully and wanders to her seat in a daze. "This one I wrote for a few special people" I state giving Ethan the evil eye. He flinches. "It's called Ignorance" I say.
Max (Italics), Nudge (Bold), Both (Bold Italics)
If I'm a bad person, you don't like me
Well I guess I'll make my own way
It's a circle
A mean cycle
I can't excite you anymore
Where's your gavel? Your jury?
What's my offense this time?
You're not a judge but if you're gonna judge me
Well sentence me to another life
Don't wanna hear your sad songs
I don't wanna feel your pain
When you swear it's all my fault
Cause you know we're not the same
(no)
We're not the same (no)
Oh we're not the same
Yeah the friends who stuck together
We wrote our names in blood
But I guess you can't accept that the change is good (hey)
It's good (hey)
It's good
Well you treat me just like another stranger
Well it's nice to meet you sir
I guess I'll go
I best be on my way out
You treat me just like another stranger
Well it's nice to meet you sir
I guess I'll go
I best be on my way out
Ignorance is your new best friend
Ignorance is your new best friend
This is the best thing that could've happened
Any longer and I wouldn't have made it
It's not a war no, it's not a rapture
I'm just a person but you can't take it
The same tricks that, that once fooled me
They won't get you anywhere
I'm not the same kid from your memory
Well now I can fend for myself
Don't wanna hear your sad songs
I don't wanna feel your pain
When you swear it's all my fault
Cause you know we're not the same
(no)
We're not the same (no)
Oh we're not the same
Yeah we used to stick together
We wrote our names in blood
But I guess you can't accept that the change is good (hey)
It's good (hey)
It's good
Well you treat me just like another stranger
Well it's nice to meet you sir
I guess I'll go
I best be on my way out
You treat me just like another stranger
Well it's nice to meet you sir
I guess I'll go
I best be on my way out
Ignorance is your new best friend
Ignorance is your new best friend
Ignorance is your new best friend
Ignorance is your new best friendWell you treat me just like another stranger
Well it's nice to meet you sir
I guess I'll go
I best be on my way out
You treat me just like another stranger

I guess I'll go
I best be on my way out
"This one's for Maya because I am a bitch. It's called 'Hard Out Here'" I say smiling wrily.
I suppose I should tell you
What this bitch is thinking
You'll find me in the studio
And not in the kitchen
I won't be bragging 'bout my cars
Or talking 'bout my chains
Don't need to shake my arse for you
'Cause I've got a brain
If I told you 'bout my sex life
You'd call me a slut
Them boys be talking 'bout their bitches
No one's making a fuss
There's a glass ceiling to break, uh huh
There's money to make
And now it's time to speed it up
'Cause I can't move with this pace
Sometimes it's hard to find the words to say
I'll go ahead and say them anyway
Forget your balls and grow a pair of tits
It's hard, it's hard, it's hard out here for a bitch
It's hard for a bitch, a bitch, a bitch
It's hard, it's hard out here for a bitch
It's hard for a bitch, a bitch, a bitch
It's hard, it's hard out here
If you're not a size six
Then you're not good looking
Well, you better be rich
Or be real good at cooking
You should probably lose some weight
'Cause we can't see your bones
You should probably fix your face
Or you'll end up on your own
Don't you want to have somebody
Who objectifies you
Have you thought about your butt
Who's gonna tear it in two
We've never had it so good, uh huh
We're out of the woods
And if you can't detect the sarcasm
You've misunderstood
Sometimes it's hard to find the words to say
I'll go ahead and say them anyway
Forget your balls and grow a pair of tits
It's hard, it's hard, it's hard out here for a bitch
It's hard for a bitch, a bitch, a bitch
It's hard, it's hard out here for a bitch
It's hard for a bitch, a bitch, a bitch
It's hard, it's hard out here
A bitch, a bitch, a bitch, bitch bitch bitch...
Inequality promises that it's here to stay
Always trust the injustice 'cause it's not going away
Inequality promises that it's here to stay
Always trust the injustice 'cause it's not going away
Sometimes it's hard to find the words to say
I'll go ahead and say them anyway
Forget your balls and grow a pair of tits
It's hard, it's hard, it's hard out here for a bitch
It's hard for a bitch, a bitch, a bitch
It's hard, it's hard out here for a bitch
It's hard for a bitch, a bitch, a bitch
It's hard, it's hard out here
"This is last song I'll sing before you hear these two dipshits sing" I say pointing to Ethan and Jason. Ethan looks furious while Jason looks embarrased. "This is 'Here Comes The Sun'" I finish.
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it's all right
Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter
Little darling, it feels like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it's all right
Little darling, the smiles returning to the faces
Little darling, it seems like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it's all right
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Little darling, I feel that ice is slowly melting
Little darling, it seems like years since it's been clear
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it's all right
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
It's all right, it's all right
"This first one is 'Come Together'" says Ethan aggrevisely.
Ethan (Italics), Jason (Bold), Both (Bold Italics)
Here come old flattop, he come grooving up slowly
He got joo-joo eyeball, he one holy roller
He got hair down to his knee
Got to be a joker he just do what he please
He wear no shoeshine, he got toe-jam football
He got monkey finger, he shoot coca-cola
He say "I know you, you know me"
One thing I can tell you is you got to be free
Come together right now over me
He bag production, he got walrus gumboot
He got Ono sideboard, he one spinal cracker
He got feet down below his knee
Hold you in his armchair you can feel his disease
Come together right now over me
(Right!
Come, oh, come, come, come.)
He roller-coaster, he got early warning
He got muddy water, he one mojo filter
He say "One and one and one is three"
Got to be good-looking cos he's so hard to see
Come together right now over me
Oh
Come together
Yeah come together
Yeah come together
Yeah come together
Yeah come together
Yeah come together
Yeah come together
Yeah oh
Come together
Yeah come together
"This next one goes to Max because she's a-" Ethan is interrupted by Nudge.
"We're going to cut to an unscheduled break see you in five." Nudge states. The cameramen look confused but roll the adverts anyway as Nudge drags Ethan and Jason offstage by ther ears. Half the crowd laughs and the other half look concerned. I stand there frozen staring the crowd. The crowd stares back. Fang catches my eye. He looks torn. 'What's going on?' I mouth to him. He shakes his head. I storm off stage to where Nudge, Jason and Ethan. Nudge appers to be reasoning with.
"I don't care I'm performing the song" says Ethan angrily. He storms pass me but then stops and turns around "You comin' Jason" he hisses. Jason looks franticly between Nudge, Ethan and I. He drops his and shakes it.
"This is wrong dude, don't do it" Jason pleads with Ethan.
"Fine! I'll perform the song without you!" he shoust as stamps away.
"I am so sorry, Max" said Jason. I furrow my brow in confusion. Ethan is back just as the comes back on air. He yanks the strap of his guitar around his neck. "As I was saying this next one goes to Max because she's a lying whore, It's called 'Spare Me The Details'" He spits. I am frozen in shock.
My best-friend, my dumb donut
Went up to a party just the other night
But three hours later and seven shots of jäger
She was in the bedroom with another guy
And I don't really wanna know
So don't tell me anymore
And I really don't wanna hear
About her feet all up in the air
And well I'm not the one who acted like a hoe
Why must I be the one who has to know?
I'm not the one who messed up big time
So spare me the details if you don't mind
Now I can understand friends who wanna tell me
They think they're gonna help me, open up my eyes
But the play by play makes me wanna lose it
Every time you do it man, it turns the knife
And I don't really wanna know
So don't tell me anymore
And I really don't wanna hear
About her feet all up in the air
And well I'm not the one who acted like a hoe
Why must I be the one who has to know?
I'm not the one who messed up big time
So spare me the details if you don't mind
Now I don't need to hear about the sounds they were makin'
And I don't need to hear about how long it was takin'
Or how the walls they were shakin'
Now lying in bed wallowing in sorrow
Missin' the tomorrow that we could have had
Running through my head, over and over
Things I never told her that just make me sad
And it drives me insane sittin with a vision
stuck with that image burned into my brain
And I feel so dumb that I could ever trust her
When someone else fucked her, then walked away
And I don't really wanna know
So don't tell me anymore
And I really don't wanna hear
About her feet all up in the air
And so I'm not the one who acted like a hoe
Why must I be the one who has to know?
I'm not the one who messed up big time
So spare me the details if you don't mind
Cuz I don't wanna know
Don't wanna know
(Spare me the details if you don't mind)
Don't wanna know
(Spare me the details if you don't mind)
Don't wanna know...
The crowd is quiet. I run up on stage. I tap his shoulder. He turns to face me and I punch him square in the face. I hear the crunch of his nose breaking...
