Tamaki's Realization
Chapter Six, "The Outing"
"Kyoya, no man can hold his own against fate. Even an Ohtori, like yourself, will eventually fall." The disgruntled memory of his father's words stirred Kyoya from his otherwise pleasant sleep.

"Why?" Kyoya responded, doing his best to change the dialougue that had led to him being seperated from his own bed.

"Just think about the possibilities, even as I speak you are imagining the sound of children running around the mansion, but you are worried she will ignore you. I know you think she hates you, but she won't. Not after you best Suoh." A gentle pattering of feet ran through Kyoya's mind as he heard this.

"Stop. I refuse. I WON'T DO IT!" he said, sternly. His demeanor was beginning to slip.
'Oh no. Not now. No!' he thought, but it was too late.
"YOU WILL WIN HER OR YOU WILL LEAVE ME!"
"I CAN'T. I CAN'T! Don't you see father? I can't even if I want to! She has chosen!" Tears broke through his mask for the first time in years. Kyoya was ashamed to show such a side of himself, but he could no longer control it.

"You're a damn fool, you know that?! YOU HEAR ME? A DAMNED FOOL! You don't deserve the Ohtori name. AND YOU DON'T DESERVE HER! HE WILL REPLACE YOU!" Kyoya walked away from his father at this point, stunting his tears and shooting daggers at the world. As the voice faded, Kyoya hurried to wash the remains of his emotion away. Unfortunately, no sooner had he cleansed his face of any proof than he ran into the last person he wanted to see in the world.

"Kyoya, what do you think of Haruhi?"
"Well, she's…. interesting, for a commoner. Unique is the only word that comes to mind, though that's not always a good thing."
" I don't need to sit here and listen to you lie to me. I know you think she hates you. Could you blame her?"
"Shut up. Shut up."
"YOU SHALL NEVER HAVE HER! ..DADDY FORBIDS IT!" Tamaki declared,
"YOU IMBECILE." Kyoya caught Tamaki by the throat, dragged him to the nearest pillar, and swung him into the gleaming marble pedestal.
THUD. THUD. THUD. THUD.

"Kyoya?" Hikaru asked, knocking on the door of the guest room. "Kyoya, are you awake?" Through the door, he could hear cursing, the shuffle of clothing, and a few thuds as the bedraggled and regretful Kyoya reached for the handle. It jiggled lightly as the door squeaked open.
"Now I am." he said, sighing deeply. "What can I do for you?"
"Nothing." Hikaru said, "Just wanted to let you know that Kaoru and I have a few errands to run today, so you won't be seeing much of us."
"The two of you are busy.. On a Saturday?" Kyoya responded absentmindedly. "Forgive me if I seem skeptical."
"No problem, we're leaving now though. Make yourself at home, okay?"
"Thank you again." Kyoya said, staggering.
"Have a nice nap, I'll see myself out." Hikaru said, closing the door behind him as Kyoya collapsed onto the bed.

Kyoya POV

"We could've had it all. YOU could've had it all." The voice that was once my father's transformed into Haruhi's. Repeating the same phrase as I collapsed of exhaustion and contempt. Such a beautiful, distracting voice.

'Distractions. Something no man needs. Especially not in my state.' Sighing, I burrowed into my pillow. With the sunlight streaming in, I have the urge to go outside but my legs will not carry me. Perhaps, I'll just lie here for awhile. I roll over and stare at the ceiling, allowing myself to fall deep into thought.

Scene: Walking Through The Town Streets
Kaoru POV

"We're late, Hikaru!" I shouted at my twin, running alongside him to the school.
"I realize that, but you were the one who thought it would be a good idea to take a walk."
"Given the weather, I thought it could be nice." I replied, never slowing down.
"They're not here, Kaoru." Hikaru pointed out as we reached the first fountain on the campus, the place where we were supposed to meet the rest of the group.
"Alright, I'll call them." I assure my twin, flipping my cell phone open as he takes a seat on the edge of the fountain.

Mori's POV

"It's ashame Kyoya and Tamaki couldn't make it today." Haruhi said, seemingly downhearted.
"Yes, I wanted to get to know them better! ..Though, I guess I'll get to spend plenty of time with them this year." Veronica replied, with a gleaming smile.
'Is she planning to keep hanging around the Host Club like this? This could be bad, especially for Hikaru and Kaoru. '
"This way!" Honinozuka said, running ahead of the group. I followed, and my long legs allowed me to move at a relaxed pace, and still keep up with Honey.

"What happened to the twins anyway? They never showed up." Veronica asked.
"I'm not sure. They'll probably catch us with up later." Haruhi replied, blankly staring into the distance.

Ring. Ring. Ring. Ring.
"Hm?" I remove my buzzing cell phone from my pocket and move closer to the store, to answer it.
"Mori-sempai. Where are all of you? We got to the fountain late." Kaoru's voice echoed through the phone.

Haruhi's POV
'Why can't I get into this outing today? I thought it was a great idea when Honey-sempai brought it up. I've just felt so.. down, today. Well, at least Veronica seems happy. She's pretty nerdy, but she's very open-minded, and she seems nice. I hope she's being genuine.' I glance over at Ms. Narou as my thoughts come to a close. She's skipped ahead, and is skipping with Honinozuka, up the street.

'Hm.. Where did Mori go?' Looking around, I realize that he's moved out of the way. 'He's very thoughtful in that way, Mori. I feel like he'd carry someone down the street before he got in their way.' I begin to let my eyes wander around the street as I consider my mood.

Suddenly, I feel a hand on my arm. Before I can make a sound, I find myself pulled into the alley, pressed against a wall, and surrounded by darkness because of the roof that stretched over it. Immediately, a hand was placed over my mouth.

'Whoever is holding me here is pressing awfully close, to hold me to this wall with their body. I wonder what they want. It's probably a bad situation, but at this point, I'm not too worried. I'm sure at least Honey and Mori will look for me sooner or later. Maybe I should try and bite this hand.'

I tried, but the person seemed to sense it. And as soon as I came upon the idea, he started talking.
"Hello, Haruhi."
'I know that voice!'
