"Emma" Regina was almost speechless. "This is beautiful." Emma smiled as she walked closer to the flickering light of the candles. "I had some help from Charming and Leroy. I'm glad you like it."
Emma took Regina's hand as they walked over to the picnic blanket placed in the middle of their beautiful piece of heaven.
"I love it." Regina spoke softly as they sat down. "It's been a while since we've been here." Regina commented, Emma let out a little laugh. "Actually I spend a lot of time here⦠When I need to just, get away." Regina smiled an understanding smile and then went straight to the picnic basket without another word.
Regina was rummaging through the food for a while before anyone spoke.
"Sorry there isn't warm food, it would have gone gross and cold." Emma said as she moved closer to the basket, well Regina actually. "It's okay, I like salad and cake." Regina pulled out a tub of garden salad and then a few plastic forks.
The salad was long gone and at least 4 glasses of wine between the two. Emma and Regina were lying down watching the stars; Regina wanted to wait a while before eating cake to get the salad go down properly.
"Look" Regina pointed "Those stars look like a love heart." Emma smiled as she looked over to where Regina was pointing, it did look like a love heart.
Emma took it as a sign.
Emma's breathe court in her throat as she stood up, taking Regina's hands and pulling her up as well. Regina just went with it.
Emma looked at Regina. It was a while before any words actually came out of Emma's mouth; I guess she was trying to think of the right words. Just thinking paid well in the end.
Slowly, ever so slowly, Emma moved down onto her knees. Regina wasn't sure what was happening but then when Emma pulled a little black box from her jacket pocked she knew what was happening.
Before Emma opened the box she spoke. "You are the oxygen to my breath; I don't think I could live without you now that you've ever so kindly blessed my life. You are the beauty to my beast; your body is nothing less of a goddess's. I knew you were something different, something special from the second I laid eyes on you. You are the love of my life" It was now that Emma tripped on her words. "S-so Regina Mills, will you marry me?"
Regina didn't reply at first, it was just tears, a lot of tears. Emma stood quickly trying to comfort Regina, not exactly sure what the tears meant. Then, after a while Regina whisper that one word that could change their whole life. "Yes"
When Emma heard that word the biggest smile spread quickly across her face.
Emma pulled back from Regina a little so she could open the box. When she did Regina gasped, the ring was beautiful. It was a sliver band with three diamonds on top. The middle diamond was a simple swan shape and smaller diamonds on the outside looked almost like apples. It would have cost almost an arm and a leg.
Regina had a few most stray tears running down her face when Emma slid the ring onto her finger.
"I love you" Regina whisper right before she captured Emma's lips is a passionate kiss.
Emma and Regina spent the rest of the night eating cake cuddled up on the picnic blanket watching the sky. It was better than Emma imagined it ever would be. She was so happy that Regina had said yes. Now they could have a real family.
