Chapter 7. Show me you care.

'Not now, Not like this', Riddick's mind told him, while he still was on top of the young woman in his presence. She looked so fragile, so broken. And yet she was so beautiful.

He claimed her lips once more, before he moved off of her and pressed his body firmly behind hers.

"Sleep", he told her keeping his own eyes open. He watched how she brushed her tears from her cheeks and lied her head on the pillow. Her read hair was spread on it like a halo. He admired her for some more minutes before his own eyes closed, and he fell asleep.

The following morning, Riddick woke in an empty bed. He quickly sat up straight, scanning his cave for Brianna.

His heart raced before he saw her sitting down near the almost died fire, her back facing him. He cleared his throat and watched how she shrugged her shoulders, but not turned to face him. He put on his cargo pants, and made his way over to her, placing himself next to her on the floor.

He watched her face from the side, and saw she had red eyes from crying. He didn't saw any tear stains on her beautiful face, so he assumed she had been crying the whole night.

He slowly reached his hand out, gently taking hold of her chin so he could turn her head to his side. His silver eyes locked with hers, seeing the pain in them.

Part of him felt bad for seeing her like this and knowing he was the one who had caused it. But his other half knew it was necessary if he wanted her to keep from making really bad decisions. Like running off and risking hurting herself. Especially when there were other humans on this planet.

"I don't want you to fear me, Brianna. That is not my intention", he told her, his deep voice causing her body to tremble.

Riddick noticed it and sighed deep, releasing her slowly.

Brianna watched him curiously, confused about what he just said. Last night had been like a nightmare, she felt she just only escaped from.

She wondered what caused his sudden changed behaviour towards her.

"I'll be gone today, don't make a run for it", Riddick told her, before standing up from the floor.

He needed time to think things over, as she, he knew.

Brianna dumbfounded watched him leave. He did securely close the rock door, but still. He left her alone. She hugged herself tightly. What to think right now?

It seemed like hours since Brianna sat here, near the fire. She just couldn't find it in herself to move. He felt tired and scared. But above all she felt alone.

She wondered if maybe Riddick was planning on dumping her somewhere. Maybe he had finally grown tired from her antics. He didn't seem very happy when he left.

She shook that thought out of her mind. If he did wanted to hurt her, she was in no position to stand against him, she knew that much. She walked the small path towards the water and washed her face. Her reflection watched back at her, eyes clear, but with a heavy mind.

She combed with her fingers through her hair, using the water to get her curls to look a little more decent. Then she moved back until her back hit a wall. It was dark here, and it helped her to calm down, to think.

She hoped it would take Riddick some time before he returned. If he returned that was.

It was already night when Riddick returned, a dead lamb hanging over his shoulder. Something very soft and very moving placed inside a big cloth, Riddick used as bag. He moved the rock and placed the lamb down before closing it again.

His eyes wondered around, taking the dark cave in. The fire had almost died, not providing much light. His eyes didn't minded, he saw better this way. He then reached inside the bag, pulling out a very small wolf cup. It was too small, compared with his sisters and brothers. It was the reason the mother had left him to die.

Riddick was still arguing with himself about to keep the cup or not.

'Well, I could always get rid of him', He thought, releasing the pup into a wooden basket. Small enough for it to feel safe, high enough so he would not escape. Perfect.

Riddick then wondered around, curious as if where he would find Brianna. He had a feeling she would be by the lake again, he knew she like that place most.

As he moved closer towards it a nasty idea filled his mind. She wouldn't have killed herself, right?

His steps became a little more heavier and faster as he reached the water, not seeing anything drifting in it. He then turned and released a sigh he didn't even knew he had been holding in. She was asleep, laying against a rock. She seemed so small there. Her eyes closed, her breaths even and soft.

He wondered if he should let her stay there or not. Probably not, too cold.

He gently lifted her, feeling her stir a bit, but she was fast asleep. He then returned to the main cave, placing her on top of the bed.

He watched her for a bit, enjoying the sight. She was beyond beautiful to his eyes. she had gained some much needed weight over the last couple of days, what added to her curves. Riddick knew she wasn't the regular beauty. But he wasn't the regular man. He liked her curves and breasts. There made her all the more feminine.

He then turned, working on the fire and the lamb. He hoped she would be hungry when she woke. He wanted, no he needed to show her he would provide for the both of them.

A soft howl was heard from the wooden basket.

'And the pup wants some meat too'.

Soft noises seemed to wake her up. Brianna blinked twice before she looked around her, seeing Riddick sitting by the fire.

She then registered something smelled delicious. Her stomach growled in protest. She slowly moved up until she was sitting, noticing a small ball of fur sitting in a basket, next to Riddick.

She cocked her head to the side, it looked like a dog of some sort.

She then noticed Riddick was watching her now, his silver eyes shining bright in the darkness.

He motioned for her to come closer, turning back to the fire. She understood she had a choice here. That was weird. Did he just ask if she wanted to come over?

She did though. Hunger was getting the best of her and she was quite curious about the little dog being.

She slowly made her way over, not sure where she would sit down. Riddick had the only available chair and was watching her approach.

She choose the spot next to the wooden box. Her eyes widened when she realised it was a little wolf, that was placed inside it. She raised her eyebrows and questionably looked at Riddick.

He just grinned and patted the wolf on its head, before feeding him a little piece of the meat.

Meat. That was right. She was hungry.

She eyed the meat he had roasted, feeling hungry, but too proud to ask for anything. Especially since last night.

Riddick watched her intensely before he decided to be the first to speak.

"You must be hungry?", he asked her, before handing her a plate with meat on it. Brianna nodded and took the plate from him with a soft 'thank you'.

Riddick felt content, seeing her eat. This time not shivering in fear of him.

The little wolf was again howling, pulling both Brianna and Riddick from their thoughts.

"Maybe he is hungry too?", Brianna asked Riddick, without second thought while looking at the creature. Riddick smiled a small smile, hearing her kind question.

"No, he's had enough meat. He just misses his pack, is all", Riddick informed her, while staring intensely at her face.

Brianna blushed a little before looking away and finishing her food.

"Tomorrow I will make sure we have some fruits too, can't live on meat alone", Riddick told her before he scratched the small wolf behind his ear.

Brianna again nodded at him, while watching him and the wolf.

He was kind to the animal, and he seemed to know his stuff about wolfs. Interesting.

The silence was weird and awkward and made Brianna speak, just to break it.

"He needs a name if you are going to keep him", she offered, the joke almost sounding like a question. She was afraid of angering him. Riddick understood. But he didn't liked it.

"I'd rather have you do that. Since you're a woman and all, seems legit", Riddick told her. She heard the amusement in his voice, and wondered if he meant if as a joke, or if he was just mocking her.

"He is a boy, right?", she asked. Riddick's grin expanded, but he nodded.

It took her ten minutes to come up with a name, but when she did, she loved it instantly.

"Amon", I think that's suitable. Don't you?", she asked Riddick. She wondered how hard he would laugh at her. To her surprise, he didn't.

"Amon. Amon. Sounds good to me. Amon it is", he said. With his deep voice, the wolfs name sounded even better, Brianna thought.

"I'll go and wash up, don't let him bite you. He is still wild. Keep that in mind", Riddick told her while he stood and left her alone with Amon.

Brianna watched him leave, before she turned to Amon.

"Hello there, little thing. Do you like your new name? Amon? I think it suits you. You're so small and soft", she said, gently petting him while he tried to lick her hand.

She smiled and bowed down to give the animal a small and quick kiss on his head.

She needed someone to cuddle, someone to talk too, and right now, Amon was the best thing for comfort.

Amon made soft noises, content ones with Brianna patting his little head. Brianna softly hummed a song for him, enjoying his presence as much as he liked hers.

The pup yawned and eventually even closed his eyes. Brianna watched him closely and stopped humming. The little thing was really falling asleep. She smiled and gave him another kiss.

While she felt her own eyelids grow heavy with sleep, she had no idea Riddick had been standing in the shadows all the time, watching her hum to the wolf.

He had a smile on his face, and a light heart. He would not admit it, but he loved to see her cuddle the tiny thing. She was so kind, so nice. Good and pure.

He then turned to wash himself up. This night definitely would make up a bit for the last one.

He was determined to be her leader, her alpha. But also her friend and her lover.

He just needed some time, and some good ideas.

After all, this being a mate thing was new to him too.

Sooo that was a quick next chapter, am I right? I hope you guys like the little twist I am giving this story. Don't worry, Riddick will be the alpha in this story, but he needs to be a little caring too, don't you think? Please send me your review and ideas. I need them to keep me going!

(If you have any scenes, or subjects you'd like to see me use in this story, please let me know!)

Just so you guys know, I'm already working on the next chapter!
