A/N Sorry I took so long to make this update. Since the show went on a little different course then I had expected, the entire plot of this story has been altered. Since I have no official outline yet for this story, updates may take a while. Thanks for being patient!
Please review!
When Emma's eyelids fluttered open, she was more than relieved to see her son sitting at her bedside with a cloth in his hand. But then the memories came. And then a realization of what she had done. She heard clicking heels in the distance and saw the distinctive woman enter her bedroom. She did not particularly want the Evil Queen in her house with her son, but she seemed to be okay for the time being, bringing in a plate of snacks for Henry.
Regina looked to Emma. They made eye contact. Briefly. And then Emma quickly looked away as if it had never happened. "Glad to see you are awake, Emma." Emma could tell a bit of anger in Regina's voice as she spoke, but Henry clearly didn't, smiling at Emma.
"Are you feelin any better mom?" Henry said before eating the last piece of his chocolate chip cookie.
"Yeah, I think so kid." Emma looked down at the plate Henry was holding and then thought for a moment. We didn't have cookies in the house. "Where did they come from."
"There was cookie dough in the fridge and Regina made them for me. Isn't that nice?"
Emma looked suspiciously at Regina for a moment as Henry ate the last cookie on the plate. "Hey, you got chocolate on your face! Go wash it off and put your plate away."
Henry smile and got up. "Okay mom!" He left the room and Emma heard the bathroom light flick on before she spoke.
"Trying to win over my son are you?" Emma snapped in a whisper.
"He is not just your son you know-"
"No. We are not playing this game now."
"Last time I checked, this isn't a game. This is our life!" Regina had a hard time containing her anger at such a low volume. She breathed out in a huff and rolled her eyes.
"I don't care!" Regina's glare became angered and she moved closer and closer to Emma. "I hate you."
Regina expressions softened more saddened ones. "Please don't say that."
Emma looked into Regina's eyes. She felt the sincerity in her words, the emptiness in her eyes replaced what she remembered used to me pure hatred. "Maybe..." Emma said, her eyes darting around the room for words to complete her sentence. When no words came to mind, Emma quickly sat up and pushed her lips onto Regina's.
Wide eyed with surprise, Regina slowly excepted Emma's kiss, letting Emma sit back into the bed while their kiss continued. "Mom I-" Emma quickly pushed Regina off of her. "What are you doing!"
"Henry I-"
"Why are you kissing her?" Henry questioned.
Emma sat in her bed with her mouth wide open, not able to explain. She hated Regina so much. But something inside her told her that was wrong. Buzzers went off into her thoughts until she finally wrapped her head around the trust. She liked Regina, but in a very special way. An attraction. When Emma looked to Regina, who kept her head and eyes down, she felt her heart pounding in her rib cage. She knew this emotion from before.
A crush.
Yet never had she felt it for a woman this strongly before, and especially for Regina at that matter. She had always attributed these emotions to intimidating or stress or fear, but they were really the budding of new feelings. Emma suddenly could see passed the heartless facade to see the beautiful woman with a broken heart on the inside. "I know this seems weird to you right now, but I promise you will understand soon." Emma tried to explain.
"Understand what?"
Emma sat up and uncomfortably sifted herself into a comfortable position. "I have a past with Regina. A complicated past. And so do you. It seems like so much as happened since we had seen her last that she just slipped through our minds. And when she came back, I was afraid to confront her, and I didn't want you to do it without me. But now, I am glad she is here."
Out of the corner of her eye, Emma observed Regina's head lifting up ever so slightly. Emma could see her deep brown eyes and gave Regina a small, but reassuring smile. "Regina is going to stay with us for a little while. What do you think about that?"
"Sounds cool! It will be fun having a guest stay." Henry said with a smile. "And, maybe you could get yourself a girlfriend!" He said quieter.
Emma jumped a little and her face turned as pale as a ghost. "Don't you have homework you need to finish."
Henry grumbled and hopped off the edge of the bed. "Okay. And later I will stay in my room and play Skyrim to give your two some privacy."
"Okay kid. Have fun." Emma watched as her son walked out of the room and heard his bedroom door shut before continuing their previous argument. "Okay. Maybe I don't hate you."
Regina crossed her arms. "Well with a kiss like that, I really hoped so."
"So, can you please explain to me why you came here? We were living a perfectly fine life without you, I just don't understand why you had to come here."
Regina moved closer and cupped her hands around Emma's ear. "There is a new curse. We encountered a Wicked Witch named Zelena, and trust me it wasn't pretty. She and I, don't, get along very well. We have, the most interesting pasts of anyone I have ever met."
"Do I even want to learn the details now?"
"They are not necessary. All I know is that you are needed to break this new curse."
"So, they are all in Storybrooke?"
Regina nodded. "Yes, but this time, all the land should have been affected, that includes the people who were not affected by the last curse like Mulan and Aurora."
"And how am I supposed to break this curse?"
"I have no idea."
Emma let her head fall back and hit the head board of her bed. "Well that is a big help. Any thing else you wish to tell me before we begin."
"Yes."
"And what might that be?"
"You are no longer an only child."
Emma's jaw dropped. "You don't mean to tell me-"
"Yes. Snow White is pregnant."
On the other side of the hallway, Henry stood astounded at what he had just heard. Snow White was his grandmother? How could this be possible. Maybe he heard incorrectly. But his mom seemed to understand so clearly, that now nothing made sense. He slowly turned the knob of the door to not make a sound and pulled the door open. He skillfully stepped around the floor boards the creaked and knocked on his mom's room door. "Mom?"
He heard the clicking of heals from the opposite side of the door and the door swung open. It was Regina on the other side. She looked at him with such happiness in her eyes, it seemed like he had seen this before.
But.
He.
Couldn't.
Remember.
When.
Regina watched as Henry crumpled to the ground, catching his body in her arms. "No. Not you too."
"What happened!" Emma tossed back the covers and rushed out of bed to be next to her son. "Don't worry. He is okay. He is still breathing. He is just experiencing another memory." Regina shook her head and Emma noticed a few tears running down her cheeks. "Regina. This is okay. You don't need to cry." Emma said putting a hand on Regina's shoulder.
Still, Regina could not stop the tears from flowing. She sobbed as she held her son's unconscious body close to her. "What have I done to him."
"Don't worry! He will be fine!"
"But I gave him the memories! I didn't know it would make him black out to remember them!" The only thought racing through Regina's mind was a way to make him remember faster. But how could she possibly do that? But of course, she had done it before with true loves kiss. But it only worked when the feelings were mutual. It would not work with a boy who barely knew her.
There was only one way to find out.
