Chapter 6

(9 Months Later)

Maka never understood what love was until she met Soul but it was safe to say that she finally understood what love in its truest form was the day she stared into burgundy colored irises. He was so tiny weighing 5lbs 14oz. 19 1/2 inches long; he was small and so fragile she was afraid she would break him. Dannyel Angel Evans-Albarn shifted in her arms and she fell in love all over again "He looks just like you." She murmured looking up to see Soul's awed gaze "Really?" he asked voice skeptical though the look never left his features "I think he looks like you, he's got the shape of your eyes and your mouth." Maka snorted and the newborn whined she rocked him back and forth murmuring comforting words Soul shifted beside her threatening to topple off the narrow hospital bed "Can I hold him?" he asked Maka moved to hand him the baby "Put your hand here," she directed his arm moving it to cradle the tiny body "and hold his head like this." She instructed, she laughed at his expression a mixture of panic and amazement, he'd never held a child before and this was so new to him. The tiny bundle in his arms wriggled Soul made a small sound in the back of his throat "Shhh shhh," he murmured rocking the baby as he had seen Maka do before "There you go, you go it." Maka encouraged she smiled proudly looking at the two boys in her life.

The nurses came to check on both baby and Mom throughout their stay, the couple's friends stopped by one after the other with Tsubaki chiding Black Star whenever he decided to let the tiny infant know just how much of a God he was ending with Kid's gushing at the symmetry Maka passed down to her child. After everyone left Soul sat at the end of Maka's feet looking at the woman he loved, she'd been strong during the labor, she didn't even take the Epidural!, and he couldn't imagine how his life would be if he had never met her. "What are you staring at?" she asked cocking her head sideways he grinned "You and how beautiful you are." Maka laughed "I look like Hell." He shook his head "I love you Maka." She smiled her green eyes shining "I love you too." He stood up walking to the chair and digging into the pocket of his leather jacket. Maka eyes him as he walks back he stopped next to her bed and looks at her once more, she raises ash blond eyebrows as he drops to one knee and she gasps when he pulls a black velvet box, opening the lid she sees the Princess cut diamond nestled there. "Maka will you marry me?" The green eyed woman nods before actually saying it aloud "Yes!" he stands up taking her left hand in his and slipping the ring onto her ring finger he kisses it. She pulls him in and kisses him with all she has gratitude, love and joy expressed in that one kiss.
