The moon hovered over the Crystal Cove coast. The water glistened making a peaceful environment.

Fred stood outside the small porch that overlooked the beach. Listening to the waves crash on the wet sand. There wasn't another noise in the air. Only the heavenly sounds of the beloved beach. In the distance the silent was broke when he overheard shouting. Shouting coming from down the beach. Curiously he stepped off the porch and began walking towards to voices, thankfully the moon gave a generous amount of light to see with.

Without going far he spotted two people at the edge of the water. A man and a woman. Fred stood and watched for moments.

The man took the woman into his arms and tossed her into the ocean. The woman screamed out of horror. The man let out a cruel laugh before jumping in after her. "Get off of me!" The woman shouted, punching the man into the oncoming wave. The man came up out of the water, coughing rapidly. "Alright little woman, you wanna see whose boss? I'll show you! You either always listen to me, or you're going to wish to had a second chance to!" He said in a rage. He took the struggling woman and pushed her under the water, holding her head under. Fred's eyes were in complete disbelief, without hesitation he jolted towards the girl.

"Get off of her!" Fred demanded in a loud voice. The man pointed a finger at him. "Get out of here and stay out of my business! She's mine to deal with!" He said. "I said get off! You're going to drown her!" Fred shouted, even louder this time. He swam out to him. The man let go of the woman, and took off out of the water, disappearing up the beach. Fred struggled through the violent waves and strong currents to find the injured woman. Within second he got a grip on her arm and scooped up into his own. "Can you hear me?" He asked. It was too dark to make out the face of the woman, and no answer came so quickly he ran towards his house. "Hang in there, I'm going to get you some help." He assured the lifeless body that dripped from the cool salt water. As fast as he possibly could he laid her down on the sand, checked her pulse and immediately dropped to his knees giving her the kiss of life. After several attempts the woman began breathing heavily and coughed weakly. "I think you are going to be okay, I need to get you inside where I can call an ambulance for you." He gently explained. A groan came from her.

He laid the girl on the sofa before flipping on the light switch and picking up the phone. But before he dialed he glanced back at the woman on his sofa and made a shocking discovery. She was none other than Daphne Blake. He dropped the phone and rushed to her side. "Daphne, it's me, Fred." He started. "Can you speak?" He asked, trying ever so hard to remain calm. With no response he grabbed the phone and dialed 911.

"They're on there way now Daphne." He smoothed.

Shortly after they arrived at his door step, carefully placing Daphne into the cot and in the ambulance.

The police arrived at the scene, "Sir where did you see this man?" An officer asked. "Right here. He threatened the woman before throwing her in. She struggled to get away. She punched his down into the water making him worse. He then attempted to drown her. That's when I went out to stop him. He disappeared after shouting at me." He explained. "Thank you sir." The officer said.

He quickly drove to the hospital, finding the her there alone. "May I go in her room?" He requested permission. The nurse nodded. "I was given strict orders to only allow family with her at this time." She said. "Or her rescuer."

"I rescued her" her claimed. "Then you are granted a 15 minute visit." She said.

Her family hadn't arrived yet, when he walked into the small dull room he found her lying in the oversized hospital bed, attached to so many different machines. Instantly flashbacks flooded his mind, making his heart tear. She currently was on a oxygen machine. "Da-" he started before collapsing in the chair nearest to her bed. "Daphne I hope you're okay." He said softly. He spotted a slight movement in her arm that made it's way to her hand. She opened her hand slowly. Fred couldn't resist slipping his hand in hers, and weakly she squeezed it. He smiled. "Your a fighter, Daphne." He said, as his thumb glided over her tiny hand he held. "You will recover from this. I know.." He whispered in her ear.

He left the hospital after the short visit. He didn't want to be there when her family came in. They needed to be alone with her at this time.

Days passed by, but Fred didn't go back to the hospital. He didn't feel it was necessary for him to take credit for saving her life. They didn't owe him anything and he quite frankly didn't care to be recognized for what he'd done. He didn't see it as being a "hero", but simply as a man who was at the right place at the right time.

One morning he decided to take a walk on the beach before heading out to run some errands in town. The beach was surprisingly empty for such a beautiful day.

He looked in the distance at a someone he thought looked very familiar, then realized exactly who it was. Before he thought about looking away, he'd been spotted. The petite young woman raised her hand and waved at him. He smiled and returned a wave. She quickly went from walking to running towards him. "Fred!" She shouted. "Daph?" He questioned under his breath. She looked so radiant and happy, she took his breath away as fast as she ran. Before saying a word, she wrapped her arms around him. "Thank you" she said softly, a lone tear, slid down her face. Without hesitation he hugged her back. Never wanting to let her go, but trying hard to battle back his feelings all at the same time. "You saved me, you're my hero." She said breathlessly. "Why wouldn't you tell them?" She asked, letting go only him and looking into his eyes. "I didn't need to be known for what I did." He said simply. "I just wanted you to be okay.." He explained. Daphne smiled. "I..I don't know how to ever thank you enough" she said, tears filed in her eyes

"There's nothing you need to thank me for. I'm just glad you're alright." He said. "I only hope and pray that the ratchet man that tried to murder you will be found and punished." He added. Daphne nodded. "I don't even know that man...he came out of no where and wanted me to get in his car after classes last night. When I told him no, he drug me to his car anyway then brought me to the beach and told me that I was to be his wife if I wished to live. And Freddy, you know I just couldn't agree to marrying him!" She cried.

"And you shouldn't ever be forced into a marriage. You have your own life to chose who you want to marry. But he wasn't a healthy man. He was sick in his ways and in his mind. You did your best to get away. I'm just sorry it happened to you. " he said calmly in a strong voice. She looked into his eyes that met hers. "I'm thankful you you were put in my life..and I don't ever want to imagine life without you, Freddy." She said. He gently held her hands. "Daphne Blake, I'm sorry, but you can't like me... You have to imagine life without me..I'm sorry."
