Chapter Two: The Endurance Run

Deidara sat on the couch, lounging comfortably and awaiting something interesting to catch his eye. He stared indifferently and played with a piece of pink bubble gum in his hand, kneading the soft pink substance when out of the corner of his eye he saw Kyo, the Orange One.

"What is this, un?" Kyo raised an eyebrow, eying the gum in his hand curiously,

"It's gum. You chew it." Deidara nodded, the mouth on his own hand taking the gum gladly, "just mess around with it, it's hard to explain." Deidara furrowed his eyebrows; perhaps this gum was some new form of explosive devise he could use to inflict a thousand leagues of pain on his enemies. The young blonde man had found the gum to be much more interesting once he began chewing it, it was sticky and he could make bubbles with it. Perhaps he could mix this with his clay to create some sort of explosive later. He would be certain to take some of this home. But for now, he would have to experiment on the explosive properties of this 'gum' by harassing the one called Momiji.

Kyo had found Deidara to be an interesting person with an interesting character about him. The mouths on his hands were increasingly intriguing to him; he wondered what he did with them and how burdensome they could be. Never before had he seen a man with mouths on his hands; at first they had confused him.

"I like this 'gum', un. It is fascinating."

Little did Deidara and Kyo know, but outside the door was a certain member of the Akatsuki with his silver hair shining in the sun. He had awoken from one of his religious rituals on the ground in a strange world. He looked around at his surroundings – it was filled with green: trees, grass, flowers. What was this place? Everything was different, this wasn't where he had started…and where the hell was Kakuzu? Hidan got up from the ground and began to stomp around, confused and frustrated with his current situation.

Inside the home, Deidara and Kyo heard a commotion erupting from outside. Kyo had chosen to ignore it, finding little interest in whatever it was that was thrashing about outside. Deidara, on the other hand, had found interest in the thrashing and was about to berate whatever it was that made the commotion. As he stepped outside, he saw a familiar face throwing his arms up and screaming. Hidan looked up momentarily, locking eyes with Deidara, before continuing his ranting and raving.

"What the hell is this bull shit? Where are we?!" Deidara groaned, putting his hands to his temples,

"Calm down. I'm just as clueless to our location as you are, un." Deidara was too fascinated with his gum to pay much attention to Hidan as he wriggled around on the ground, flailing his arms as he stomped around. Deidara was much too occupied experimenting with the gum to pay much heed to Hidan. The blonde man found himself drawn to the squishy pink substance as he molded it into his favorite birds, mixing them with his clay and watching as they expanded before blowing up into smaller pieces. From inside the home, Tohru came running and as she exited, her eyes widened,

"Why aren't you dressed for school? Come on, you can bring your bloody friend and everything!" Deidara frowned, remembering the prior day at the Cultural Festival. He glared at Tohru, pointing at her clothing,

"I refuse to wear that again. Everything about it is uncomfortable." Hidan snickered,

"You wore that? There's no way in hell I would be caught dead wearing that." Tohru could be seen weighing options in her head,

"There's only one boy's uniform available for one of you. Whoever wants it can wear it." The two Akatsuki members glared at each other. After spending what felt like ages arguing over who would wear the male uniform, Kyo finally walked out of the house and pushed them both down,

"Rock paper scissors. Best out of three. Loser wears the girls' uniform." He had had enough of the nonsense that these two were putting before him, this was ridiculous. The two performed rock paper scissors, after having it shown to them by Tohru and the Orange One. Much to Hidan's dismay, he had lost the battle of paper scissors rock.

"I do not think that I will join you–" Hidan began,

"You're coming," Deidara stated through grit teeth, dragging Hidan into the home to clean up before this school that everyone kept speaking of. If he had to suffer through a day in the girl clothes, then Hidan would suffer the same fate as him. Tohru timidly held out her uniform as Hidan was dragged inside; Hidan snatched the outfit and quickly changed – grumbling under his breath the entire time. He stared at himself in the outfit with a look of disgust, it was like some kind of poison on his skin. He exhaled deeply, trying to calm himself,

"Where did I leave my scythe?" The others shrugged, Deidara stating that it may still be outside. Hidan made his way outside awkwardly, finding a young man with golden eyes sitting atop his scythe and staring at him happily, "The fuck are you doing with my scythe?" Hidan spat.

"Oh! Tis your bloody triple-bladed scythe?" The stranger with the silver hair stated as he got up off the ground. Behind, Deidara exited the house, failing at hiding his sneer.

"Hidan, let's go."

While walking to school, Hidan could feel the stares of everyone he passed on the street. Unlike Deidara, he lacked a certain girlish charm about him. Needless to say, he felt like everyone was judging him for his clothing. Everyone stared, not to judge, but to look curiously at the new boy in the girls' uniform with the bloody scythe strapped to his back. He was a sight to behold. Nobody knew what to think of him as he entered the school grounds. Overhearing several conversations, one word stuck out the most to Hidan: androgynous. Fuck, he wasn't like that! That was Deidara, not him! He could feel his anger boiling in the pit of his stomach and as they continued walking and he heard more mumbles, the anger bubbled over and he began screaming at the students. He growled, reaching back for his scythe. There was no way that he would accept this type of treatment, he was a servant of Jashin, damn it! Tohru turned to Deidara and murmured softly,

"Your friend is a little scary, and he does know that it isn't allowed to swear on the school grounds, right?" To this, Deidara could only sigh, replying calmly,

"Hidan will never stop swearing, it's a part of who he truly is." Tohru nodded, not wishing to confront the screaming man. "What is a typical day of this school like, un?" Tohru thought about this for a few moments, trying to find the best way to describe her school experience to the other. Maybe she ought to start with the fact that today was the endurance run? She took a deep breathe, ready to utter the words 'endurance run' and get screamed at by the others, however she was interrupted by Kyo,

"Finally," he sneered, "I will finally beat that damn rat, Yuki!" Deidara raised an eyebrow,

"Beat him at what, un?" Kyo replied nonchalantly,

"Endurance Run." At this quiet remark, Hidan stopped his barrage of screams, his eyes wide,

"What the fuck is an Endurance Run?" He said seriously, "I refuse to participate in a fucking Endurance Run, especially while I'm stuck in these ridiculous clothes." Hidan growled, this turn of events had made him very upset. Yuki, having heard his name not too long ago, turned to Tohru,

"Miss Honda, where is Miss Uotani?" Tohru turned to him and stated casually,

"Uo thought today was a good day to skip," hearing this remark, Hidan discovered a newfound anger in the pit of his stomach.

"What the fuck? We could have skipped today? Well, fuck this shit! I'm going home!" Deidara shot daggers at him and sneered,

"Hidan, shut the fuck up and just run the damn Endurance Run. Don't act like a little bitch, un."

The pair stood in the empty locker room, the other students having left already after getting changed into their gym uniforms. Digging through the lost and found, Hidan having snuck into the boys' locker room once everyone was gone, the two dove straight for the one uniform staring at them. They both gripped it tightly and it became a tug of war, a battle of upper body strength. A simple game of rock paper scissors wouldn't cut it this time, Hidan refused to press his luck again.

"Deidara, you fucking bastard, give me the uniform! Unlike you, I can pass as a man!" Hidan cried loudly, as he pulled on the uniform with all his strength. The two continued to struggle for a few minutes, their palms becoming sweaty.

"Damn you, Hidan; I want the boys' uniform! I don't care whether or not I can pass as a girl, I don't want them thinking I am one! I am a male, damn it!" Unfortunately for Deidara, his grip had loosened and the uniform slipped from his hands. He landed on the floor with a thud, grumbling to himself. He quickly brushed himself off, a slight blush gracing his cheeks as he trudged to the girls' locker room to grab a uniform.

"You pass as a lovely young woman, Deidara," Hidan stated, sticking his tongue out playfully. When Deidara saw what it was the girls had to wear as their uniform, he felt incredibly exposed. Why must everything be so short? He wasn't about to skip the run and look like a complete ass to Tohru, she had helped him out when he needed it and given him a place to stay. He sucked up his pride and changed into the uniform, frowning as he stepped out to see Hidan beaming at him. "You look so cute, I could just eat you up," he snickered. Deidara pushed him outside and took his place standing with the girls. Deidara stood, ready to beat Hidan to the end in any way possible. As the girls began running, Deidara jogged lightly, conserving his energy for when the boys would catch up to him. Hidan came bouncing by shortly after, he quirked an eyebrow,

"Deidara? What are you doing here?"

"I have been conserving energy, waiting for you to come by, so that I may show you who the real man is by beating you to the finish." Out of the corner of his eye, Deidara was able to watch the orange one, the girl, and the one who was called "Prince" helping a man with white hair up, the two disregarded him and continued their run towards the end. "I will defeat you," Diedara stated matter of factly,

"Fat chance, Jashin will ensure that I shall reign victorious," Hidan retorted. The two ran, neck and neck, until they could see the end. With a tremendous amount of energy he had been saving in his core, Deidara sprinted as fast as he could towards the end, passing Hidan in only the last few feet. Hidan could be heard cursing up a storm behind him, finishing the run only seconds after. Deidara grinned triumphantly, stating smugly,

"Where's your Jashin now, Hidan?" Deidara could barely hear Hidan as he swore under his breath,

"Jashin will have your head."

"Now, let us proceed back to the home which will be our new base until we can find a way to return to our home." Deidara pushed the other in the direction of Shigure's home, excited to tell the others of his victory.

The walk home for the two became engulfed in enraged swear words, as Deidara smugly bragged about his victory and Hidan growled at him about Jashin's revenge. The two even forgot to change out of the gym uniforms, the end of the Endurance Run taking up the entirety of their focus. When the pair returned to the home, they saw a certain gray haired male in bed and the orange one yelling at the white haired man from before as he walked around the home nude. Hidan could care less at this point, crashing down onto the couch and groaning loudly, he would just watch them be stupid. Deidara frowned, covering his eye in disgust. Looking up for a brief moment, Hidan was able to see someone looking through the window at the group. He was uncertain who this person was, deciding that he would investigate later and instead watch the group bicker before him. He found it entertaining, in a way.

Hi.

It's been a while, hasn't it? Like a year. I'm sorry. School happened and Senior year was a year that I couldn't slack off on. I wanted to get into a good university and pass my IB exams. But I graduated. And I got into a good university. And I finished IB exams. So updates will come quicker! :D I get the scores for my exams in a couple days actually…and I'm scared.

I don't know if I need to censor the story because of Hidan, because I figured that, as teens, you would have at least some experience with naughty words. But, if I need to go back and fix the last chapter in terms of censorship, then I will do so.

I'm actually going to be wrapping up some stuff before I go to university in the fall. The Great Room Clean of 2014 just began because I thought I lost my credit card…it was in one of my bags. I'm so responsible. As well, I can actually see my floor and it is incredible. There is so much empty space! My bookshelf has never looked so clean! Although, I don't have enough space on it for all my books because I keep getting more. Augh. So much novel.

Anyway, this summer should be filled with more updates from stories. I'm going to try and write a chapter every couple of weeks. This one is generally pretty easy to update because I have the ideas all written out already, I just have to transfer it to here.

Happy reading and writing!

Besos,

~Master Boss
