"Yep. Everything's all clear here." Sam B. spoke cheerfully as he walked down the stairs that led to the garage towards his other group members. Xian smiled in appreciation of Sam B.'s efforts into clearing out the zombies on the upper floor of the Lifeguard Tower.

"Good job, Samuel!"

"Uh, you can just call me Sam."

The two of them chuckled away before their eyes looked warily over at the other two members of the group who didn't seem to be getting along as well as Sam and Xian was.

"Dammit, why can't Logan and Purna communicate like normal people? Just look at them." Sam shook his head.

Logan had his back turned against the group. He was sitting on a stool facing the outside of the garage while tapping his foot against a broom he found in the bathroom. He looked as if he was waiting for Sinamoi and the other survivors to return when none of them were notified of the clearance of the zombies in the first place. Meanwhile, Purna was sitting on her own stool at the deepest part of the garage right next to the workbench. She was cleaning her gun with a handkerchief. It was obvious that those two people were purposely distancing themselves from each other – both physically and socially.

"Aight, while all of you are partying down here, I'm gonna go let Sinamoi know the place is safe." And with that, Sam B. went up the stairs again and vanished from sight. Xian stood there looking at the both of them awkwardly for several seconds before trying to break the silence.

"Both of you did very well killing off those things when we went in the staff room over there! That was excellent teamwork!"

Xian gulped nervously as she saw Purna lift her head while Logan turned his head back to look at the both of them. Purna and Logan made eye contact for a second before looking away once more. If it weren't for that bitter argument upon their first meeting, things wouldn't be as tense as they are now.

Xian released a sigh of defeat and decided to sit at the lowest step of the stairs to wait for Sam B. to return. Logan heard the sound of her sigh and this time he turned his entire body around to look at Xian who had the look of disappointment on her delicate face. He gave off a sigh of his own and walked towards the direction of the two women. He wanted to just talk to Xian to help ease the tension and to take advantage of the lax moment to enjoy her company, but he decided to do something better.

Xian looked up to see Logan walk pass her and saw that he had stopped in front of Purna. Xian cautiously watched them both from the stairs. Purna lifted her head at once when she noticed his presence right before her. She placed her gun back into the holster and stared at him, waiting for him to make the first move. Logan felt her eyes glaring into his soul that truly provoked him, but he reluctantly held back.

"Hey, Purna. Just wanted to say sorry."

Purna's eyes softened a bit but her voice remained as stern as it was before.

"Oh? What for?"

Logan tried to suppress a sigh of annoyance, but he knew what he had to do. "You know. For calling you a bitch and all."

Instead of hearing another retort from her, Logan heard the sound of a soft laugh that was native to his ears. Purna actually reacted peacefully.

"I'm just fucking with you, Logan. It's okay." Purna gave him a very small smile. "I can tell you're putting a lot of effort into this conversation."

Before Logan could speak, he saw a can of beer being shoved into his sight that Purna took out from the bottom of her stool.

"I was about to make a peace offering myself, but you beat me to it."

Logan took the beer with a look of bewilderment on his face that made Purna laugh once more.

"While you were scavenging in the bathroom, Xian did some convincing and apparently you have a soft spot for beer. Lucky me for finding it here." Purna stood up and dusted off her pants with her hands. "If we're going to be a team, we might as well get along, right?"

Logan laughed and nodded his head in appreciation. He opened the beer and dunked a load of it into his throat before handing it back to her with the remaining liquid splashing around within the can.

"Have some." He offered.

Purna looked at him in amusement. "I'd rather not. Don't want to share drinks with a rich asshole like you." She spoke jokingly.

Logan laughed again. "Whatever, you beerist." He then finished the rest of the can and threw it to the side. He heard the sound of Xian's broken heels approach him.
