I'm back. :)

This was inspired by my Aunt who had an eight pound, ten ounce baby on January thirty-first.

Enjoy!

Andy sighed nervously and raised his hand to knock on the door. He knocked twice, two quick raps, then he backed away. Sharon opened the door with a scowl on her face and a screaming baby in her arms.

"Andy," She sighed and plastered on a smile, "Come in."

Andy smiled and stepped into the condo, the take out bag in hand, "I, ah, brought some dinner."

"Great! I'm starving," Sharon mumbled bouncing the baby carefully and walking into the kitchen. Andy followed and placed the plastic bag on the counter.

"How often does your neighbor leave her kid with you?" Andy asked, watching the ever so beautiful Sharon bounce around the kitchen, trying to cease the baby's cries.

"Whenever she goes out. Either out to a party or out on a date. Meaning every other day roughly, it really takes a village. Everyone here chips in to help her, but I'm the only one without kids of my own. So I get to watch this little guy the most," Sharon smiled tickling the baby's stomach, making him gurgle. "He needs to eat," Sharon muttered mostly to herself. She walked to the counter and clumsily started a bottle.

"Would you like me to take him?" Andy asked stepping forward and reaching for the child.

"Please," Sharon said with a sigh. Sharon passed the baby to Andy. He cautiously took the little one and leaned against the counter next to Sharon. The baby's blue eyes bore into Andy's and he couldn't help smile.

"What's his name?" Andy asked making a duck face at the baby. The child squealed in delight and grasped the air near Andy. Andy chuckled and out of the corner of his eye, he saw Sharon smile at them.

"James. James Edgar Robert," Sharon smiled pulling a pot from the island's cabinet. Andy got a splendid view of her tight bottom in jeans, and it was sight he would always happily remember. Sharon filled the pot with water and set it on the stove. Andy continued to play with James as Sharon boiled the water and placed the bottle to warm in the pot.

"Here," Andy said taking the luke warm bottle from Sharon and gently pressing it to James' mouth. James suckled and latched to the bottle. "He's so peaceful," Andy whispered using his pointer finger to stroke James' cheek. James closed his eyes and soon his suckling slowed and the bottle was empty.

"Babies are my favorite," Sharon whispered taking James from Andy. She cradled the baby in her arms and stared down at his chubby cheeks and rounded head. "They're peaceful and naive. They don't know the of the big bad world yet. They only know love and comfort." Sharon looked up from James, and asked, "Would you mind getting plates and utensils for dinner?"

"Not at all, would you mind pointing out where everything is?" Andy asked.

"Not at all."

Sharon held onto James all dinner, only handing him to Andy when she needed to do dishes.

Andy would be a perfect father, Sharon thought. Watching Andy with James made Sharon wonder how Jack would've acted with their little one if the child had not been lost so early. Growing up, Sharon always wanted to be a mother, but as she got older and her career started in the LAPD, she found less and less time for herself and wondered how she would ever be able to properly bring up a child. James was nice to have around, though. She could watch him for a couple hours a day and give him back to his mother for proper raising.

"I should put him to bed," Sharon whispered, reaching down over the couch to scoop the bundle. Andy turned slightly with James to politely avoid Sharon's grasp.

"You're not the only one who likes babies," Andy said with a small smile. "Do you mind if I stay a couple more hours? If you have plans, I would understand."

"You're always welcome here, Andy," Sharon said, then hastily added, "And the invitation applies to the whole team. I have to do some cleaning and laundry, I trust you'll be okay for a little bit?"

"Definitely," Andy muttered, settling against the couch. Sharon hid her smile as he position James safely on his chest, heart to heart. The sight tugged at her heart and she felt a bit of longing.

Longing for a child.

Longing for Andy.

Laundry was clean and folded, the small condo was spotless, and Sharon had ran out of things to fiddle with. Sharon returned to the living room to see that Andy had fallen asleep, his large hands resting softly, but securely on James's back. Both their mouths were wide open. If anyone were to walk into the condo at that moment, they would have thought, 'What a perfect family'. But to Sharon, they were just playing house for the night. And one night only.

Sharon quietly grabbed the throw blanket from a nearby sitting chair and gently placed it over two. She made sure James could breath and then she sat in the chair with a book.

The ever annoying shrill from a cellphone woke Sharon first. Bolting up, Sharon quickly answered the phone in hopes it would let James and Andy sleep a bit longer. They were, after all, playing house for the night.

"Hello?" Sharon asked groggily. She reached for a glass and filled it with water as she waited for the person on the other end to respond.

"Good morning, Detective," Brenda's voice sang through the receiver. "I'm sorry to wake you, but we have another scene to solve."

Sharon rolled her eyes and made a disgusted face at the phone before she responded, "Thank you, Lieutenant," Sharon managed, politely. Sharon listened to Brenda rattle off the address and told her to be there as soon as she could. Which was nice talk for, 'As soon as possible'. Sharon finished her water and placed the glass in the dish washer. She reheated a slice of leftover pizza for herself. She wasn't sure if Andy would want his cold or heated; Sharon would wait for him to wake. Brenda would be calling his cell any moment.

Sure enough, Andy's phone rang after Sharon had devoured her pizza and he walked into the kitchen with a still sleeping James in his arms.

"We've got a scene," Andy muttered as he carefully shifted James in his arms. "That means I have to go, little guy. Thanks for spending time with me," Andy cooed sweetly to the sleeping child. Sharon felt that tugging feeling again in her heart and adverted her eyes from the two.

"Would you like some coffee?" Sharon asked turning her back to Andy.

"Please," Andy replied, "Is this, ah, piece of pizza for me?"

"Yes, would you like me to heat it?" Sharon asked as she handed Andy his coffee.

"No, it's fine," Andy took a a bite of the pizza.

"I should take James back to his mother, she should be in by now," Sharon muttered, taking the sleeping child from Andy's arms.

"I'll follow you out," Andy mumbled with a mouth full of pizza.

"Plate," Sharon scolded as Andy tried to walk out of the kitchen with just the slice of pizza. Andy mumbled something about how his hand was an efficient plate, but he still took the proffered paper plate from Sharon. Sharon cradled James and made sure his bag was all set before she took her purse and keys and struggled to the door. Andy finished his pizza and tossed his plate quickly into the trash before hurrying after Sharon to help her with a bag.

"Shar, let me take something," Andy offered. Sharon sighed gratefully, and handed him James's diaper bag. Sharon walked down the hall a couple of doors before she found the right one. She knocked twice, and stepped out of the way of the door. No answer. Sharon knocked again, but still no answer.

Rolling her eyes, Sharon moved to another door muttering, "Your mumma isn't home yet." Andy followed Sharon, angered that James's mother was not there to greet her child with open arms. The second door Sharon knocked on was answered instantly. An older woman, with a pointed chin, and long greying plaited hair, took the sleeping James in shaky arms. After seeing the frail woman struggle with holding the child, Andy offered to bring in the diaper bag for her. She accepted and asked him to please set the bag on the kitchen table. Sharon talked to the older woman quickly and apologized numerously for having to wake her at such an hour.

Andy returned and he apologized for having to wake her and explained as concisely as he could that they had been called to a scene.

"Ooh," Sharon muttered as she waited impatiently for the elevator to come. "We can't arrive together, that'll raise too much suspicious over nothing," Sharon said boldly, not meeting his eyes.

"I need to go back to my place anyway. We'll be fine, and we didn't do anything wrong," Andy said, trying to lighten the mood a bit.

We played house, Sharon thought, That's not nothing.

"How often do you need to leave James with the older woman?"

"How many times do I need to leave James with Diane? Every time I need to drop him off early in the morning," Sharon said sadly. "She's a fantastic person, but as you saw, she's not as strong as she used to be. Diane is nearly ninety. It frustrates me that James's mother is never able to greet her baby with love."

Andy nodded in agreement, gritting his teeth. But one thought saved him from wanting to arrest James's mother for child neglect: he has Sharon.

Cadaver #6

Sharon rounded the corner and quietly took her desk. Andy still wasn't in, but Provenza and Tao were there with the leggy blonde. There was a riddle on that white board, that read:

"Amsterdam is 28,

Melbourne is 56,

Seoul is 88 and

Barcelona is 92.

So what would Los Angeles be?"

Sharon looked over the riddle, the numbers making no sense to her.

"Detective," Brenda started, "So nice of you to join us. Now we're just missing Detective Flynn," Brenda shook her head in disapproval of his tardiness. "This riddle was left by Deputy Chief Pope as our sixth task. Do these numbers mean anythin' to you, Detective? Anythin' that could help us solve it to find the scene?"

Sharon hastily reviewed the words scrawled around the riddle. "It's all even numbers," Sharon said mostly to herself. "Amsterdam, Melbourne, Seoul, Barcelona, and Los Angeles. Have we looked up the cities and these years? Was there anything else on the note?"

"While you and Detective Flynn were out, we managed to search for the cities and their dates with not much luck. There was a flower drawn on the corner of the paper," Brenda said eyebrows raised as she waited to see what Sharon was thinking.

Sharon's eyebrows shot up. She walked over to the board and grabbed the first expo marker she saw. She rewrote the cities as so:

Amsterdam 1928,

Melbourne 1956,

Seoul 1988,

Barcelona 1992 and

Los Angeles 1984.

"It's the city and year in the 20th century during which the Summer Olympics Games were held. We have a scene at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum," Andy said walking slowly towards his desk.

Thought since we were going through the Winter Olympic Games, I would add in a fun little fact. :)

Plus, I love the Olympics.
