Sorry for the late update!

Enjoy!

Sharon woke to a knock at her door. She stretched to look at the clock. The harsh red numbers blinked 3:15. Sharon groaned before forcing herself out of the bed. She walked the little hallway to her hotel door, kicking the discarded heels to the side.

The knocking became persistent. Sharon opened the door, rubbing sleep from her eyes.

"Afternoon," Andy said with a small smile. He held a wooden tray containing a glass of ice water with lemon, a sandwich, and strawberries. A white rose laid with the utensils. A little enveloped note was tucked under the plate.

"I, ah, figured you wouldn't have eaten yet," Andy said nervously.

Sharon smiled tiredly, "Thank you."

They both stood there just looking over the other. Sharon was debating silently in her head.

When it looked like she had come to a conclusion, she asked, "Would you, um, like to come in?" She stepped aside a little, extending the invitation.

"No. Thank you, but I made some plans."

"Oh, okay," Sharon said sadly, quietly berating herself. Of course he had met someone already.

"Here, I'll put this down for you," Andy said stepping into Sharon's room and placing the tray on her bed. "I'll be back at four- thirty to walk you down."

Sharon smiled and nodded politely. Andy walked out of her room and gently closed the door behind himself. Sharon hated social events, always had and probably always will but there was a sense of obligation she felt towards such events.

Sharon had packed her best dress for the trip and couldn't wait to show it off. With a small sigh, Sharon made her way around the quaint bedroom.

After eating the lunch Andy had brought her, she tucked the note (unopened) under a book she had on her night stand. Sharon showered, applied some makeup, and surveyed herself in the small mirror.

Her red, three-quarter sleeve, empire waist, flowing knee-length skirt dress emphasized every asset she liked; her breasts, flat stomach, and hair.

She spun on her toes, the skirt swirling at her knees. Sharon smiled happily and flipped her hair.

Andy tapped lightly on her door. He stood in a tan three piece suit with a red tie. His black hair was smoothly slicked back. "Sharon?" Andy asked through the door.

"Coming!" Sharon called brightly. She grabbed her pocketbook and headed to the door. She opened it just enough to slip out, her hand grasped the doorknob and leaned against the door. There was just enough room between the two for them to breathe.

"You look amazing," Andy whispered, his eye raking over her form.

Sharon blushed lightly and smiled, "Thank you. You clean up pretty well yourself."

"Shall we?" Andy asked offering his elbow.

"It would be my pleasure," Sharon said, tucking her hand around his proffered elbow.

Together the two walked in comfortable silence to the ballroom. They gave their names and stations to the woman monitoring the entrance. In return, Sharon and Andy were given name tags and their table number.

They entered the ballroom. It was nothing either could have every imagined.

White tablecloths covered the tables with eight good wooden chairs around each round table. Soft jazz music was played by the live band. In the middle of the room was a dance floor that was currently unoccupied. Other detectives were talking and laughing.

"Do you want to sit or mingle?" Andy muttered, still taking in the ballroom.

"Sit, please," Sharon replied, her green eyes also observing the ballroom.

Andy lead Sharon through the ballroom to their table. Detectives turned their heads and eyes followed their steps. Sharon kept her head held high and a smile plastered to her face. She nodded politely to the stares and glances they got. Andy pulled her a little closer to himself instinctively. Sharon didn't protest.

They sat at their respective table and order drinks; Sharon a glass of Pinot Grigo and Andy got a glass of Duck Horn.

They would each go through a bottle that night.

They sat quietly for a little bit, watching the others talk and drink. The ballroom was quickly filling up; the jazz music was only faintly heard in the background now.

John, his wife and coming officer Samantha made their way to Sharon and Andy as soon as they walked in.

Andy and John had gone out to lunch after he had told Andy to bring a lunch tray to Sharon.

The two had been assigned the same table; quickly a conversation was struck up about how things were run at the departments and how it was to work with a wife as a commanding officer.

The conversation lasted well into dinner, and desert. The four other detectives at their table had had their own conversation and bid the rest a night stating they had a long day of conference the next day. John, Samantha, Andy, and Sharon bid them goodnight.

The band started up again with peppy and hip music.

John dragged Samantha to the dance floor. As they got up to leave, John had nudged Andy who had blushed slightly before boyishly asking Sharon to dance with him.

Sharon smiled and agreed.

The dances started simple; The Hustle was the first one and Sharon taught Andy the foot work. Andy taught Sharon the Funky Chicken dance. John and Samantha taught them the Lady Bump dance. The two couples knew how to do the Bus Stop, and by the end of that dance, the ballroom was a three- quarters of what it was before.

The four took a break for another round of drinks.

The band started playing more formal dances. Sharon and Andy danced the Foxtrot.

His left foot went forward, her right went back; slowly. His right went forward, her left went back; slowly again. His left foot went to the side and slightly forward, her right went to the side and slightly forward. Andy closed his right foot to his left, Sharon closed her left to her right and they started the footwork over again.

Andy was very focused on not stepping on her toes, he could hear his mother's voice in his head telling him to look up and lift his arms. After that, they waltzed. Slowly and beautifully.

The band slowed down again after that. They played an Alice Cooper song, "Only Women Bleed", Sharon seemed to know the song fairly well. She sang along to the band, her head tucked against his chest as they swayed gently to the music. Andy wrapped his arms tightly around her slim waist and kept her pressed against his chest.

John and Samantha looked over at them and smiled politely. Samantha playfully blew a kiss and Andy pretended to catch it by grasping the air. She smiled at him and waved goodnight as they slipped quietly from the ballroom. The room had again decreased, only a good handful were still on the dance floor.

The band announced the last song was to be "Dance With Me" by Orleans. Andy smiled at that and held Sharon even tighter against him, never wanting to let go. He sang this song to her quietly.

"Dance with me, I want to be your partner, can't you see, the music is just starting, Night is falling, and I am falling, dance with me."

Sharon hummed and looked up at him.

"Let it lift you off the ground, Starry eyes, and love is all around us, I can take you where you want to go, oh, dance with me."

Andy sang the last versus, staring down into Sharon's eyes.

It was either the wine, the moment, or the woman, but Andy blamed all three when he threw propriety out the door and kissed Sharon soundly on the lips.

She didn't know how, but they were in the elevator heading up. When he unlocked his door and she pulled him in, she knew she was done for.

Andy picked her up, Sharon giggled, and laid her down on the hotel's linens. He peppered her face with light, hot kisses and Sharon giggled girlishly the whole time. She started to unbutton his suit and discard the material. Andy pulled away quickly though. Sharon sat up, confused.

"Hold on," Andy breathed. His face broke into a grin as he held up the 'Do not Disturb' sign and brought it to his hotel door. "I've always wanted to do that," he whispered as he laid over her and made her feel like the most important woman in the world.

Please review!

I (sadly) do not own any of those fabulously mentioned songs, I just borrowed them for the tie to 1975.
