Red eyes watched the woman across the room warily, watching every movement she made. Eun Ha didn't seem to notice him as she sat in the chair across from him, sitting straight as a stick. "Let me go." He spoke, his own voice weak. She did not reply, though she only gave him a soft smile. The fire behind her gave her face an eerie glow, one that made the simple smile seem so beautiful. "Don't you like it here?" she laughed, motioning to come closer.
Jack opened his mouth to say something, only to close it a second later. Before he could stop himself, he had moved across the room to stand directly in front of her. Her soft fingers began to trace the forming scars on his bare chest. "I enjoy you being here." She whispered.
When he didn't reply she moved her hand to his face.
"I'm going to give you a present. Would you like it?" She met Jack's eyes, her gaze was maddening. The fire made his face glow a bright white, the sweat dripping from his forehead almost as decoration. Her mother put a hand on her head tenderly. "Jack..." Her voice was calm, nothing like the look in her eyes.
He gasped in shock in pain when her fist slammed into his gut. "Answer me."
"You…you're insane!" Jack shouted weakly, his knees buckling under him as he gasped for air. "You remind me of my first... friend."
She ignored the look sent her way as she picked up the doll from the table and turned it face up, her thumb running over the stitched heart on its chest. "He begged me to let him go, to spare him." Jack was frozen in place, on his knees and staring straight at his capture.
Eun Ha meticulously dabbed the bloody edge of the chip onto the heart, filling it in completely. "Hold this for me." She put the bloody chip through Jack's hand, making sure not to get any of the blood on her fingers. He cried out.
"Please stop... just... let me go." he whispered quietly and she tsked him chidingly, then reached out and plucked a handful of his hair. Tears stinged his eye as he shouted in pain.
She came back in front of the fire and grabbed her needle and thread again, now carefully stitching the tufts of hair to the top of the doll's head.
Silence filled the room for the longest of time. Minutes or hours? Jack looked up at her, tears dried on his face. "What happened to him?" He asked.
"He ran away." She looked sad as she said this, of course the expression changed when she went back to sewing the doll. It didn't take long before she finished the last of the stitching, using her teeth to cut the string. "W-what….what are you doing…?"
"Hmm?" She looked up from her handiwork, feigning innocence before waving the doll at him. "Making a doll of course! For when you leave, i'll still have a friend!" She looked up at him and smiled. "I'm going to go get some tea! Want some?"
The sound of something to drink made him realize how dry his throat really was. "Please."
For the longest time, the only sounds echoing in the dark room were the sound of the grandfather clock ticking and the sound of the crackling fire. Eun Ha eyes never left Jack as she silently sipped her milk, watching his eyes roam across the room the best they could, finally resting on her. She suddenly became embarrassed as she quickly looked down into her glass.
"I would like to return to... my room. Please... I'm tired." He had his voice under control. Her eyes met his and an understanding passed. "Sleep well." She let him leave.
