"Treepaw, catch up!" Moonpaw called, laughing. It was moonhigh and the two apprentices had snuck out. Treepaw grinned, running so he could be beside Moonpaw. She smiled, slowing to a walk and twining her tail with his. Treepaw licked her cheek, purring. The two apprentices were five moons apart and Treepaw was going to have his warrior assessment any day now; it had been delayed a moon after he had been very, very sick with greencough. Moonpaw had been distraught and helped the medicine cat whenever she could. Treepaw smiled, thinking back.

"Treepaw, you can't die!" Moonpaw whispered, pressing her nose into his cheek. Treepaw coughed weakly, "You shouldn't be here. You'll get sick too."

"Just promise me you won't die!" she begged. "Remember? You said that once we became warriors, we could be mates." Her voice broke on the last word and she buried her face in her paws. Treepaw flicked out his tail, touching her cheek; seeing her like this hurt.

"Moonpaw," Treepaw whispered, "I will never leave you. Never. Now go. You can't get sick." Moonpaw smiled, touching her nose to his before hurrying out.

"You're daydreaming again!" Moonpaw said, nudging him with her shoulder. Treepaw grinned, "Only about you." Moonpaw smiled shyly, ducking her head. He touched her nose with his, looking into her sparkling blue eyes. For a moment, neither spoke.

Then, Moonpaw turned and ran, "Race you to the Thunderpath!" Treepaw ran after her, but knew it was a lost cause. Moonpaw was one of the fastest cats in the clan. He jumped up on the black, smooth surface, breathing hard. Moonpaw laughed, bouncing up and down a little on her little delicate paws. Her silver tabby fur shined in the moonlight, unlike his black and brown fur, which blended in with the shadows. Only his white paws were really noticeable.

Treepaw began walking on the edge of the Thunderpath, Moonpaw joining him. They walked close to each other, not speaking, just enjoying each others company. Treepaw paused, flicking his ears. He nodded across the Thunderpath, another part of their clan's territory, where a white rabbit stood out against the darkness. Treepaw began to slink across the black surface, completely focused. Suddenly, a light blinded him.

"Treepaw!" Something barreled into him, and he flew off the Thunderpath. A screech filled the air, and the roaring monster kept going, not looking back. Treepaw scrambled up, staring at the still silver tabby she-cat.

"Moonpaw!" he cried, running to her. She looked up at him, blood trickling out of her mouth, "Treepaw..."

"No, no, no!" Treepaw said desperately, looking around for something to help. "We'll get you back to camp. You'll get fixed right up. It's going to be-"

"Treepaw," Moonpaw whispered again. Treepaw looked down at her, his vision blurring, "Moonpaw?"

"I love you..." she said, trailing off as her eyes closed and her body went still.

"No!" Treepaw yowled, burying his face in her fur. "No Starclan, please don't take her! Please! We were going to be mates, have kits, become old together!" He closed his eyes, his whole body shaking with sobs.

"Please Moonpaw," he whispered. "I never got to say I love you."

Author's Note: Oh, I'm gonna cry! It's just so sad. Treepaw and Moonpaw are some of my roleplay characters from the forum Wingclan. Moonpaw is still waiting for the now warrior Treestorm in Starclan. I hope you are having a lovely day, remember you are beautiful, and stay fabulous.
