Chapter 3 First Clue

"Damn that looks comfy..."

"Shut up Bone, I'm trying to sleep here!"

"I want one..."

"Any contact with that, and you'll be stuck there until you really are bones!"

Ji-gu sat up from the hammock and rubbed her eyes. "Will you two shut it? This itsy bitsy spider is gonna get reeeally cranky when she doesn't get any sleep ya know!" Both Bone and Rex were astonished at the harsh remark they received from the little girl that was supposed to have the mind of a 5 year old, and she looks like one too! She plopped back onto the hammock and turned away from the two. There was utter silence as the boys were trying to sink in from what just happened. Bone was the first to speak between the one block space of the two beds.

"What just happened?"

"Good night Bone."

The morning of the next day started with a knock on the door that woke up everyone into a fit, correction, everyone except for Ji-gu.

"Who is it?" The response was several more knocks on the door.

Rex got up from the bed and stomped to the door saying, "I'll get it." Poor Nico on the other side of the door got a slight scare when Rex slammed open the door with an irritated, "What?!" Nico hands Rex a large bag which contained three pastries wrapped in paper and two notes, one was written by Alice, obviously, but the other was in an unknown handwriting. "Thanks." The door was slammed shut on Nico's face.

"That's not very nice Rex-san!" Ji-gu commented with a pout. He tossed a pastry towards the child and one at the face of Bone who was trying to go back to sleep. She looked at the sugar coated pastry and quickly took a bite.

Bone grabbed the paper package on his face and muttered a very annoyed, "Screw you." at Rex and took a bite. "What's that?"

"A letter to your mom."

"Very funny."

"I'm serious dip..." Rex paused when he remembered about Ji-gu. "...moron!" To Rex's sake, Ji-gu was paying more attention to the pastry than what they're saying.

Bone shoved the pastry in his mouth and snatched the paper from Rex. Skimming through it, he realizes it's a letter explaining what happened in the village and it wasn't necessary to bring supplies. Then he snatched the other paper before Rex was able to touch it. The information written in it shocked him.

Rex, seeing his little cousin having a shocked expression of someone seeing someone die, became curious. "What's up."

"'There were three men 2 days ago walking through the streets at night, talking about where the Mob siege came from. One of them had white hai-'"

"Daddy!" Ji-gu pointed out.

Bone continued reading the info out loud. "... white hair and another had yellow... They went through the North Gate." There was silence.

Being unconvinced, Rex sullenly said, "Highly doubt that would be Pops and your old mans; let's go home before we have to stay in for another nig-" He only had one good look at the little girls sad face to give in. "Fine, but we can't do dirt with no weapons."

"I got some bombs." The other two gleamed at the skeleton. "What?"

Rex responded, "And why do you have bombs?" Bone was silent. "Either way, we might as well take Auntie's sword." There was another knock on the door. Bone, this time, answered it.

"Hi guys!" Said the Auburn Haired girl. Yep, Cupa, and guess what? She still looks 16.

Bone was not amused. "Wassup Creeper?"

"Don't call me that... Alice said to bring you guys home. Now why's that? You guys look like you could handle yourselves."

"Way to be lazy green girl."

"Don't call me that either."

"You guys just had a Mob siege not to long ago, so that's why we're going to take the diamond sword 'Aunty' Alice offered us." Rex added.

Cupa slouched at the thought. "Is she crazy?"

The two boys replied with a simple "yep." Cupa sighed and waved for the group to follow her. It was typical for her to act like a stalker, silent, constantly keeping an eye on everyone, even jumping at the slightest sudden sound behind her. It was easy for Cupa to give in to the idea for her to hold little Ji-gu's hand till they reached the café. Alice was found sleeping with her head resting on the front counter, an obvious sign that she had not slept last night at all.

Since Cupa was still not known to be a creeper, she decided not to whisper due to that fact that the result of whispering would make her sound like she was hissing. "Walk up sleepy head! We still have another day to work ahead of us!" The frustrated Alice woke up with a blind feeble flail towards Cupa. "Your first customers want a diamond sword anyways."

Sluggishly, Alice responded while wiping her eyes. "I don't sell swords! I'm not a blacksmith!" It took her half a minute to realize that Ji-gu was staring at her through the glass display. "Ji-ji, your eyes are both beautiful and scary at the same time."

"Thank you!" She replied childishly. Alice dashed to the back and returned with the large thin leather package.

"Why the change of heart?" Alice asked Rex.

Rex shrugged, and the time it took him to shrug surprisingly bought him enough time to come up with an excuse. "The same reason why you want to get rid of the sword- in case of a mob attack." Bone was looking for his younger mute friend. Nico was no where to be found. Rex took the sword and tied the wrapping string around his belt loop. "Thank you for your services, later Auntie!" Rex took his party out of the building before she was able to respond properly.

Cupa noticed the direction the party was going before they disappeared from the other side of the door. "They're going the wrong way..."

Meanwhile...

In the Santos' building, the women were in a slight meeting involving both the mob sieges and the tardiness of their respective children. Ria was curled up on her seat, constantly mumbling that she shouldn't have sent Rex outside the settlement at such a young age. Yurei handed the paper that was hidden in the "Town Hall" containing the status of Spruce Village to Silk, who found that it really isn't that necessary to bring supplies to the town.

"It's just a single death," Silk commented. "That town is bound to have more deaths from murderers, it really..." She gave a sigh, she knew that they sent the kids for something very minor and yet they haven't returned from the trip. "They're probably hanging out with Alice."

Yurei snatched. the paper back, skimming through it again. "Yeah, calming her down. Out of all things, it had to be John." She said in a annoyed tone. Ria continued to mumble to herself. "You need to calm down Ria."

Silk stood up as she obnoxiously added to Yurei's statement. "I know! Girls' night! I've always wanted to go to town since we built the wall."

"I highly doubt that we should be going to town."

"Oh don't crush my ideas like that..."

"You never had any good ideas."

"What do you mean that I don't have any 'good ideas?'" The two continued to bicker as Ria decided to take the paper and read it.

[Confidential to Woodland Settlement]: Spruce village has been attacked by Mob via Mob Siege. Damage is minor structurally and there is only one reported death, the husband of a supporter of your township, Alice Coal.

Supplies would not be necessary but would be greatly appreciated.

The rest of the paper shows the list of items needed for reconstruction, nothing else. "Wooden planks, one cobblestone block, dirt, and granite. Why did they leave?" Ria thought.
