Crow awoke to the feeling of dread in his chest and panting heavily. He looked to the side, sleeping soundly beside him was Jiro. However, there was something wrong. Jiro had bandages around his neck and a few on his face and what little Crow could see of the rest of his student/lover's body. He struggled to remember what had happened, but was met with a killer head-ache. He laid back down and decided to ask Jiro in the morning.
Crow awoke to a cold floor and an even colder feeling in his chest. He tried to sit up, but was met with absolute agony. When he looked down Crow wished he hadn't; his torso was cut in multiple places and blood was seeping out of his deeper wounds. He looked like he was stabbed a few times and kicked around a bit for there were bruises blossoming in a multitude of shades and hues on his chest around his ribs. They were probably broken for it hurt to breathe.
'Wait, if I'm here then where's?!' Crow's thought process was broken when he heard a familiar moan from a far corner in the room. He looked up and his eyes widened at the sight.
Jiro was lying on his side with his back facing his dear teacher. His chest was littered with bite marks and bruises; there was blood running down the back of the ravenette's neck from a deep bite on the left side of his neck. He was shivering as though he was cold and he could smell pure fear radiating from the Old Blood.
"J...I...ro," Crow moaned and he tried to crawl over to his distressed student. Jiro looked over and gave him a pleading look.
"Just rest Crow, y-you need it," Jiro murmured so quietly that even with Crow's enhanced hearing it was barely audible. The tears in those silver pools stopped Crow in his tracks. He hadn't seen his dear student this upset since Alice had died. Did that mean...
Crow's efforts were stopped when he suddenly felt faint and the room began to grow dark. The last thing he saw was Jiro's sad smile and seeing the his name on Jiro's lips.
Crow sat up suddenly, the nightmare or whatever that was felt too real. He flinched and whipped his head around when he felt a gentle hand on his shoulder. Standing there was Bluefire, Jiro's younger sister. She had a kind and understanding look on her face and seemed to radiate this feeling of patience. Crow recognized this feeling, Jiro often gave off this same feeling when he was with Kotaro.
"I take it you had a bad dream?" Bluefire said in a slightly questioning tone as she sat in the chair next to the bed Crow was in.
Crow rubbed at his eyes, "More like a nightmare."
The blonde girl nodded. "It's to be expected, what with the sort of torture you and Nii-san went through," Bluefire replied. Crow looked at her and felt his throat tighten.
"W-what?!" Crow squeaked, blushing slightly at how his voice sounded. The blonde nodded as she gently helped Crow lay back down.
"You two were gone for three days. I...We all were very worried when we couldn't find either of you. The Company's still trying to track down who had done this to you, but that could take months. The Princess also sent word that you're being recalled as soon as you're well enough to travel again," Bluefire explained as she wiped tears from her eyes.
Crow sucked in a breath, "W-what!? W-why so suddenly?! W-what about..."
Bluefire held a hand up, "I know you're worried about Nii-san, but you know how it is. The Dark Princess of the North is only looking out for your safety and she feels that you'd be safer under her protection. Nii-san has his duties here and to our bloodline so he can't go with you. I...I'm sorry Crow-san, I wish I could do something, but I'm a Half-Blood."
Crow's shoulders sagged, he knew the blonde girl was right. Half-Bloods didn't have much say in affairs concerning their respective bloodlines and even if they did an Old Blood could easily over-rule that decision, even if that Old Blood wasn't from that specific bloodline. Besides, it was better not to cross the Princess. She was quite fierce when angered.
Jiro sighed as he looked out the window onto the moonlit city below. He usually felt solace from this view, but he only felt anger looking out on this city. This never would have happened if he and Kotaro had remained in the Sanctuary. He knew that it was for the best that he raise Kotaro here in the Special Zone for however long Jiro has left in this world, but why did it have to keep him from finding happiness. He knew that Alice would love for him to move on from her death and find someone else to be happy with. Its this city. If he didn't have these duties to uphold the peace and guard the Kowloon King's ashes he could be free to visit the Sanctuary, to spend time with Crow...
He felt that this entire situation was his fault. Jiro was the real target of this kidnapping, the silver-eyed vampire knew it. There were plenty of Black Bloods out there that would love to torture him until he was broken beyond repair and allow those fears and worries to fester. They would fester and fester until Jiro took his own life...But what did Crow have to do with this? Was it because he was Jiro's lover?
'No that couldn't be...Very few know of our relationship...' Jiro thought. He turned away from the window, his mind was made up.
He just had to make the most of what little time with Crow he had left and pray that their relationship would last after they are split apart.
