The Time Stop:
Chapter Eight:
"Dani?"
The young girl immediately turned to see who had spoken. Her eyes lit up in happiness and excitement upon seeing Danny.
"Oh my gosh! Danny! What are you doing here?" She exclaimed loudly as she fly over to crush the older boy in a bear hug. After a moment she backed away from him with a confused expression to match the one Danny had been wearing since the two teens had crashed into each other. "Better question. What are you doing way out here in the middle of nowhere? Shouldn't you be back in Amity Park?"
Danny looked away guiltily and sighed.
"I don't live in Amity Park anymore," he said sounding somewhat sad.
"Oh no," Dani whispered softly. Her voice shook a bit and tears started to spring to her eyes. "Did someone—"
"NO!" Danny exclaimed, suddenly realizing what his clone must be thinking. "Nobody died. And before you ask, it doesn't have anything to do with the GIW either. I just... I didn't belong there anymore. It's... i don't know how to explain it. I guess it didn't really feel like home. Does that make any sense?"
Dani nodded in understanding. "You don't have to say any more. I might not know what your full reasons were but I can definitely sympathize with wanting to get away from it all. That's why I am constantly on the move, travelling."
"So is that what you're doing now? Travelling someplace new again?" Danny asked, trying to lighten the mood a little and switch the topic to something more cheerful.
"Actually no," Dani admitted. "I was actually on my way back to Amity Park to come and see you."
"Really?" Danny asked.
"Yeah. I know this is going to sound weird but I had this crazy dream where this funny looking, age shifting ghost with a cartoonish purple cloak kept trying to tell me he was the master of time and that I had to find you so that 'all would be as it should be'." She used her fingers to visualize that the last part was a quotation. "I figured my subconscious was trying to tell me something and that it couldn't hurt to visit for a few days."
Danny burst out laughing. Dani floated there with her arms crossed and a sour expression on her face.
"Hey! It's not my fault I have messed up dream!"
Danny laughed even louder and had to hold his side to keep it from hurting too bad. When he managed to calm himself down a bit he wiped a tear from his eye and tried to explain to his now furious clone why what she said was so hilarious.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry. It's just... you totally just insulted Clockwork and... oh my g-d that was so funny." He then started to laugh again and Dani was still just as confused as before.
"I have no idea what you are talking about, Danny."
Danny finally calmed down for real and was able to make a somewhat more coherent sentence with his words.
"Clockwork, the guy from your dream, is an actual ghost who actually is the Master of Time. It wasn't your subconscious, it was Clockwork contacting you through a dream to fix something in the time stream."
Dani's eyes lit up in excitement. "That is so cool! I didn't know ghosts could do that! Do you think maybe you or I could do that? Oh man, think of all the pranks we could pull on people and they would never even have the slightest idea! And then..."
Dani rambled on a bit longer while Danny had a flashback of the whole incident with Nocturne. He shook himself out of his thoughts and tuned back in to hear his clone had continued her little rant and didn't appear to know he had stopped listening.
"... would turn around and get a face full of grass and marshmallows and we'd ride away on the unicorn up the rainbow as it farts peas and carrots at all the suckers down below! Wouldn't that be great!?"
"Danny blinked, confused, and tilted his head to the side as he opened his mouth to comment but no sound came out. After another shake of the head and a small laugh to himself, he finally managed to speak again.
"I think you should cut back on the sugar just a bit. Does your imagination always run this wild?"
"...Maybe," came the reply.
Danny chuckled and pulled the young girl into a tight hug saying, "Never change."
"Of course not! I'm great!" Dani smiled as she pulled away from the older boy.
"So... where are we headed?" she asked.
"You... want to come with me?" Danny was clearly confused for about the millionth time during their conversation so far.
"WELL DUH! I was on my way to come find you anyway. And besides, it would be nice to have a travelling companion. I can even show you all the cool places I've been to!"
Danny smiled back at Dani, glad that she wanted to come with him, even if he had no idea where he wanted to end up. He did however remember where he was currently headed.
"How do you feel about Las Vegas?"
"Cool! Let's go!"
The two halfas took off flying together over the rocky mountain terrain as they headed to the city of lights, talking and laughing all the way.
Hope you enjoyed. It wasn't too long of a wait as some of my chapters have been so far. I count that as a win. And it was a longer chapter! Yay! Be sure to keep an eye out for the next chapter which will hopefully be out before the end of this month. As always though, I make no promises.
