Telling your guardian that you got into a fight is a bad idea.

Not bothering to study for your finals is a bad idea.

Staying out all night when you have somewhere important to go in the morning is a bad idea.

Telling your guardian that you got into a fight with a flamethrower? That is a worse idea.

Normal parents and guardians would dismiss the sarcastic comment or roll their eyes at the silly remark.

But Sara Bellum and Bubbles were not normal in any way, shape, or form. Bubbles was, after all, super powered and prone to encountering monkeys with ray guns, spoiled teenagers with laser shooting crowns, and other fire wielding maniacs. So what followed Bubbles' remark was not something enjoyable.

'Not something enjoyable' being yelling, eye rolling, threat-making, and door slamming.

Bubbles found herself lying down in her room, attempting to write her biology paper. As she attempted to write about the joys of the fungus, Bubbles found herself staring blankly at the wall, thinking about the day's events.

More specifically, she thought about the quarrel she had with Butch. She had enough fights in her life to know that it was nothing more than a quick little brawl, but it was different from all the fights she'd been in lately. At least, it was different from fighting kids in her school when they crossed her.

Bubbles was hit in the back by an energy blast. And it was something she hadn't experienced since she was 14. It was painful, but that was what she liked. It wasn't any pain in her head or in her heart, but on her body where she could concentrate on. Fighting with normal people wasn't the same. Unless she was fighting with some sort of heavyweight boxing champion, it wouldn't hurt. This hurt. But in a twisted sense, it was a good kind of hurt.

Bubbles was snapped out of her thoughts as a knock on her door was heard. She pretending to be typing something up as she yelled out, "Come in."

Sara appeared and she tentatively walked over to the bed.

"What are you up to?" Sara asked, sitting down on the dark gray brocade patterned comforter.

"Biology essay." Bubbles shrugged.

The woman nodded and they were left in a silence. "About today…"

"I'm sorry." Bubbles cut her off. "I wasn't thinking before I said that and it wasn't something to joke about. I will take any punishment you give me and complete any groundings you give me."

Bubbles pretended to be sincere, but she honestly didn't give two craps. It was something she said so she could prevent a lecture.

"What's the point of grounding you? We both know it won't do any good." Sara scoffed. "But yes, you are grounded."

Bubbles couldn't resist raising her brows in surprise. That was certainly an example of contradicting yourself.

Sara sighed. "Anyways, it's not that. It's just that… you can't keep getting into brawls and fights all the time. I know people can be hard to deal with, but you can't just use your powers as the way to deal with them. You've been doing great in school in terms of academics, but…"

"It's not enough." Bubbles finished for her.

Sara smiled ruefully. "I don't know what else to do. It might be time for you to transfer."

Bubbles froze.

"Transfer." Bubbles repeated, her voice flat.

"I told you… you couldn't keep fighting if you wanted to stay in school. I know you didn't want to do this, because trust me, I don't either, but there may be no other choice. It's your last chance before the state decides to move you out of here."

Sara's voice shook at the last sentence and she bit her lip.

Bubbles felt herself swallow hard, but her face remained void of any emotion besides slight frustration. She couldn't go back. There were very few schools in Townsville, let alone schools where nobody knew who she was, and Bubbles had already been to most of them. In fact, the school she currently attended was the remaining school in which people weren't exactly familiar with her. Bubbles knew what school Sara was referring to. It was United Prepatory, which was a little bit out of town. It was a school funded by Townsville and Citiesville, and a fairly elite school. It was a public school, but to get in you'd have to go through an extensive admissions process to get in.

Bubbles had attended that school right after the Professor left and she wasn't exactly fond of the school. Especially since it held too many memories of her sisters.

It was out of the question.

No. No. No.

Sara knew this, but it was the only school where they'd take Bubbles back. The only reason why Bubbles wasn't a student there was because after Blossom and Buttercup died, she stopped going. That was nothing compared to what she'd done in her other schools.

So that meant there was a good chance they'd re-enroll her.

Not that Bubbles would ever go back.

"I'll stop." Bubbles said slowly. "I'll stop, ok?"

Sara looked doubtful, but shook her head. "Okay. But I've heard that before and it better be the last one."

Bubbles plastered a smile on her face and nodded. "It will be."

Sara nodded and Bubbles could tell she was fighting the urge to hug her. When Bubbles showed no signs of initiating the hug, as usual, Sara simply placed her hand on Bubbles' knee and patted it. "Well, I've got a new episode of Revenge to watch, so I'll leave you to your work."

Bubbles nodded. "'Night."

"Goodnight. Don't sleep too late."

With that, Sara left and Bubbles was left staring at the door.

"I can't go back." Bubbles whispered to herself.

Flashbacks of her life before flooded her mind and she shut her eyes, hugging her knees. She felt like screaming. She felt like crying. She felt like doing everything possible to show the world how much she hated it.

Bubbles held her head in her hands and took a deep breath, clenching her jaw and squeezing her eyes shut until she felt herself regain some type of emotional stability.

Bubbles opened her eyes, her mind still throbbing with memories of the past and feelings of the present, and she swallowed hard.

She shut her laptop and got up. Lacing up a pair of random combat boots and pulling on a gray sweater and a black beanie, she walked towards the little balcony.

With the click of the lock, she opened the door to the balcony and she exited the penthouse, on a quest to forget the past for a little while.

A/N: Whoa that was a fairly long chapter (1,119 words not counting this author's note). Oops, I guess? So you got to meet Sara Bellum and see her and Bubbles interact! That's pretty good because she's one of the only parts of Bubbles' past that she one, hasn't kicked to the curb and two, doesn't completely hate with all of her being. Next is Butch, so before you find out what happens to Bubbles, you'll get to see what Butch and Boomer call a fun night out.

Anyways, I've been attempting to create a somewhat consistent schedule for updating my stories so stay tuned for that. So thank you for reading and I hope you liked it. Don't forget to review/favorite/follow because one of those can do wonders for both my motivation and self esteem. Just kidding! Kinda. But seriously, tell me what you thought and I'll catch you guys later!
