Chapter 6

Disc: Don't own anything.

Leon paced back and forth in the hotel room he and Jill had rented. The two women, Ada and Jill were sitting on the chairs and the Asian woman watched calmly as the two of them tried their best to take in the news she had brought about Claire's betrayal.

"No Ada, you have to be mistaken, Claire can't be working for Wesker." Leon said as he tried to sort his thoughts. The evidence against Claire was overwhelming, but he simply couldn't accept that she could do this to them, especially since Wesker had killed Chris, unless the younger sibling was actually in on it. But that simply couldn't be; Claire had loved Chris and there was no way on earth she would willingly let Wesker kill him. She hated Umbrella and had not survived all those dire situation alive to let Wesker do something like this.

"Leon, I know it is hard to believe but the evidence is there." Ada said gently, pointing at the pile of photos that lied on the desk somewhat scattered.

Leon's mind was in chaos. He and Jill had believed that Claire had been taken by Wesker against her will and was being used and tormented by the power hungry ex S.T.A.R.S leader, but the pictures showed her with Wesker, smiling and having good time. One picture depicted her with the blond man in opera theater, enjoying a glass of campaign with him, wearing a beautiful dress and another picture showed her eating a dinner with him and representatives of Tricell, namely Excella Gionne. And then there was the last set of pictures…showing her kissing the blond man and heading towards bedroom. Those pictures had almost been too much for Leon.

"Wong, what do you make of Excella Gionne? Why is she taking part in these meetings? Isn't Tricell one of the main supporters of BSAA?" Jill asked from the dark haired woman, wanting this spy's take on the situation. She didn't trust her, but right now, she felt like putting her faith in her rather than Claire. How Claire could have done this to them? Did she hate Chris?

Ada frowned ever so slightly, looking worried

"I fear for Ms. Gione's safety. She isn't aware of Wesker's nature or true objectives. She simply believes this to be a lucrative business opportunity. She is very ambitious woman and is blinded by the things offered to her." Ada explained, reassuring the two of Excella's innocence in the matter.

"I fear for her safety." the asian woman said with a worried expression.

"I've tried to reach her with my agents but Wesker has prevented me from doing so. I fear that her life is in grave danger." Ada continued, watching closely Leon and Jill's reactions to the matter. This was going better than she had expected. Leon was still denying the possibility of Claire being with Wesker but Valentine…she was completely accepting that possibility. She was still mourning Chris and clearly wanted someone to blame.

"Do you know how to get to her? Possibly when Wesker isn't there. It would be in our favor to encounter her separately." Jill asked from Ada who nodded.

"Yes, accessing the building is hard and the security is tight and latest, but it shouldn't be impossible." Ada explained with a hint of smile on her lips.

'Poor Claire…you'll be better off with Wesker.'

Claire was lying on the soft yet elegant couch like a cat, flipping through the pages of a book as she read through the text that sucked her in. It was a crime novel with romance and action. The young woman had only recently realized just how secluded and separated she had been from the rest of the world and during one night out with Wesker, she had seen the book being advertised, apparently it was the first book by a young writer that had been rocketed to fame, yet she had not heard anything about her. Claire had asked Wesker if she could get the book and only day later it had appeared on her table.

It was cheesy and clearly aimed for the younger women with dreams and hopes. Claire sighed as she read how the young woman met a dangerous criminal and how their eyes met. It kinda reminded her of Wesker and her first meeting…who would have thought that it all would end up like this?

The sun warmed her body through the glass of the window and the young woman glanced out at the blue sky that had few white clouds traveling across it.

She was caged, yet Claire had slowly realized that her freedom would only do more harm to the world...a conversation with Wesker had confirmed that. She perhaps wasn't able to stop Wesker from continuing his research with Uroboros...but at least Leon, Jill, Barry and the rest were safe for now.

If she escaped or was rescued...they most likely would just suffer the same fate as Chris.

'Yeah...it is better this way for everyone.' Claire thought. Her thoughts had slowly changed over time as she became more dependent on her captor.

Claire stared out of the window at the busy streets below, wondering what would happen to all those people if Wesker went through with his plan to release uroboros on the world.

'How many would be accepted by the virus?' She wondered and leaned slightly against the grand piano, imagining a barren world with only a handful of people. They'd have to build a new world from the remnants of the old one.

'Would I be accepted? Wesker can't affect my genetics...if I'm not adaptable with the virus...'

Claire let out a sigh and rubbed the spot between her eyes slightly. Lately she had been sleeping in Wesker's bed and each morning the blond man was gone before she could wake up.

She felt almost content with her situation. The outside world started to feel alien and the thought about leaving the apartment without Wesker started to feel uncomfortable. Did the outside world matter anymore? There was nothing she could do.

"What are you thinking of, Claire?" Wesker husky voice asked and the younger Redfield could feel his strong hands wrap around her waist from behind.

Claire blinked few times before choosing to answer "Just about the fate of the world...you know, light stuff." She laughed dryly which made Wesker chuckle.

"As you should, the Uroboros is soon ready." The blond man replied and Claire turned around to face the golden red eyed man.

Claire smiled a bit sadly. She had played with the thought of her friends finding her one day and taking her away. That thought had been her constant companion in the beginning when she had fought Wesker as hard as she could, then, the thought had slowly faded away.

'Why did I have start thinking about it again..it is just painful. Leon, Jill...even Barry with his funny stories.' Claire thought. It felt like she was at crossroads. One path took her to somewhere unknown with Wesker and it had started to feel like he only possible path for her to take. All the other options for her were blocked.

'I will probably never see Leon or Sherry again.'

A part of her wondered if being rescued would in the end change anything in her life. What would prevent Wesker from coming after her again? He had resources and he had found her and Chris even though they had made it almost impossible. If she ran...only more people would get hurt.

It was a sad fact in her life.

"Wesker.." she started, wondering how she should put her thoughts into the words. "If I ran from you, what would you do?" she asked.

Wekser smirked.

"Why, dear heart, I'd hunt you down even if it was the last thing I did. I'd kill everyone who came in my way, even if it meant that I'd have to kill every single person in the world."

Claire laughed sadly and sighed

"Thanks...that was all I wanted to hear.'

Claire didn't even react when the door opened since it had to be either HUNK or Wesker.

"Mmghh.." Claire greeted the person with a grunt as she continued reading the book, but lowered it instantly to see who the person was when she heard a feminine chuckle and to her surprise, the visitor was Excella who was holding a duralumin briefcase in her hand. It probably held Wesker's serum inside it.

"Excella? What are you doing here?" Claire asked somewhat suspiciously. Gionne almost never visited alone and when she did, the Italian woman made nasty remarks about her and tried to pry information out of her.

"Bringing Albert's serum batch since that mercenary of his is busy. " Excella said with a smirk before continuing "Who knows, maybe he sent him to assassinate one of your friends."

Claire's eyes narrowed slightly but she ignored the other woman's words, knowing that she only wanted to cause her distress.

Excella took a moment to study the room and before placing the case on a nearby table.

"Enjoying your time in this gilded cage, Redfield?" Excella asked, not even attempting to hide her despising tone and maliciousness. Claire blinked few times and wasn't quite sure what to do. She sat up straight and placed the book on the table with a wine glass from previous night when she and Wesker had enjoyed few glasses together.

"Can't say I do." Claire murmured, but to be honest….it wasn't so bad anymore and she was actually enjoying her time "Though I'd be lying if I said that there haven't been any improvements.."

She had been so unhappy for a long time and now that she had accepted her situation more or less, it wasn't so bad. Her mind hand slowly given in and life with Wesker started to feel like the only viable option for her.

Excella eyed her up and down as if calculating what kind of a trouble she'd be.

"Don't lie to yourself, Redfield. You are enjoying each moment of your life." Excella murmured.

Claire got up from the sofa and faced the dark haired woman.

"What do you want, Excella? Did you come here just to mock me?" the red haired woman asked, disliking Excella's tone. "If so, you'll find me very boring target..."

Excella let out a soft and amused chuckled, smiling at Claire "I just cannot figure it out...what makes you worthy of him. Such a naive and uneducated woman." She said to which Claire couldn't help but just stare dumbfounded. "Dropping from school to fight zombies take down a corporation such as Umbrella.."

"What is this about, Excella?" He asked, not quite understanding Excella. How could she not see how horrible person Wesker was and what he was planning? Did she really want to destroy the world?

'Am I really that much better?' Claire wondered, holding her other arm gently as Gione accused her of not being worthy. 'What am I doing? I'm sleeping with Wesker and I've pretty much given up on all hope of ever getting out of here. What can I do when Wesker is about to destroy the world?'

Excella had a mad look in her eyes and she was seething, every time she had been in Claire's presence the Italian woman had stared daggers at her, clearly wishing that she'd just disappear and die.

"You aren't fit to rule the new world Albert is about to bring." Excella said, looking at Claire like she was a cockroach. "You aren't even worthy of surviving. The uroboros will not accept you."

"And what makes you think you are any more worthy? Do you think your genes are somehow more fitting for the virus?" Claire shot back, not quite believing how blindly Excella followed Wesker. She was tired of Excella. Despite her intelligence and beauty, Excella lacked wisdom and experience.

Gione cocked her head slightly "I really can't understand how he wants to keep someone as insignificant as you with him as a plaything. "

"I agree, I can't understand it either, but apparently he wants to. Right now there isn't much I can do to stop him from destroying the world...but I'll think of something." Claire said, trying to convince herself more than Gione.

She had been so torn about this for a long time. So far she hadn't been able to do anything, not even take her own life but what would happen when Wesker decided to destroy the world? Could she simply stand by and watch as he destroyed everything dear to her?

"He will see that you are not worthy of the new world." Excella said.

"With my intelligence and assets, Albert will see me as a worthy partner eventually."

Claire just stared Excella one eyebrow up in confusion, she was almost like a broken record before letting out a sad laugh and closing her eyes.

"Honestly, I'm more surprised that he hasn't already turned you into some experiment, testing the uroboros on you." Claire said Excella was one of the people Wesker used and threw away, yet even though she as clever and sharp, Excella was too far gone to see that. 'No matter how much I try to warn her…she just doesn't see it.' Claire thought.

"Now...if you have no business with me, I'd rather be left alone, ." She stated and turned her back to the woman. A big mistake.

Years of being in danger had enhanced Claire's senses. She felt dark haired woman shift behind her and the blue eyed one turned her head just in time to see Excella pull out a syringe from her handbag filled with dark purple liquid inside it before dashing at Claire with mad look in her eyes.

Claire's eyes widened slightly in horror but her survival instincts kicked in immediately.

In an instant, she held her arm up, grabbing Excella's wrist just when she was about to stick the needle into her neck.

"What the hell are you doing!?" She yelled in surprise and tried to keep that dangerous needle from her skin. Excella was surprisingly strong with zealous wrath burning in her eyes.

"You are not worthy!" Excella hissed with victorious look in her eyes as the tip of the needle was almost against Claire's skin. The blue-eyed woman realized that it was auto injection, dumping all the content into the blood stream on moment it pierced the skin.

"I don't…I don't want him! You can have him if you want, Excella!" Claire yelled, but deep inside her she loved the attention Wesker gave her. He was her world now…she had no one else to hang on to.

"That's why you have to die, Redfield…. you are blinding him…worthless red haired bitch." Excella purred dangerously, applying more strength as the two were struggling against each other.

"Just die like your worthless brother…you and this "Chris" were just test pieces to be used and thrown away…" Excella taunted her, making Claire tremble and lose her composure, trembling slightly.

"Shut up…." She whispered barely loud enough for Excella to hear.

"Waste of space…just like your brother…what good did it do for him to protect you? Protecting such a weak and stupid girl…he must really regret dying for you. Just like your friends will also."

"I said shut up!" Claire yelled in anger, gaining all her strength back and with all her might she headbutted Excella into face, wanting to hurt the woman.

The dark haired woman screamed in pain and lost her control, falling backwards and loosing his hold on the needle. Claire grabbed the needle from Excella's hands. The other woman's nose was now bleeding and Claire just had a small bruise on her face. She snarled angrily with the needle in her hand.

She saw red and her body burned with anger. Before she knew it, Claire swung her hand angrily, jamming the needle in the woman's arm who had tried to murder her. She got to taste her own medicine.

Excella's expression turned horrified when the needle hit her shoulder, injecting her with the liquid inside.

Claire felt the time slow down slightly when she heard the small "zzt" Sound when the mechanism injected Gione with the drug. She had no idea what the stuff inside the needle was….but Excella's expression was that of one's who was about to die. Claire let go of the needle and backed away, starting to realize what she had done.

"I…" She started as Excella pulled out the needle before her body made a sudden convulsive move.

She started coughing violently and fell down onto her knees, writhing in pain and screaming.

"Ex.." The young woman tried, unable to help or do anything to the other woman.

Excella coughed up blood onto the wooden floor and onto her white dress with painful look on her face before falling onto the ground fully, writhing and convulsing in agonizing pain. She screamed and cried out in desperation, not wanting to die. It was a painful and slow death…

Claire stared down at the woman who had wanted her to experience that fate, but now that the adrenaline and hate filled haze had lifted from her mind, she felt utter fear and shock take over her.

'What have I done?'

"No no no..." Claire muttered in panic and got onto her knees, trying to help Excella but she had no idea how. She looked into Excella's eyes, but despite her attempts to help, the dark haired woman tried to push her away. Excella felt only pure hatred for her.

She felt bad for Excella…She was blinded by her zealous love for Wesker and would have died either way in the end.

The dark haired woman couldn't talk with all the blood…she was choking on it and the convulsing became worse.

"Pl..please don't die! I.." Claire cried out. Excella only coughed up more blood, some of it landing onto Claire's clothes and face but the red haired woman didn't even flinch.

A part of her wanted to end her misery but couldn't bring herself to do it. She was completely helpless, only able to watch Excella struggle and slowly die in her arms.

Only after few minutes after Excella's last twitches died down, did Claire realize something.

'I just murdered someone…' Claire realized.

She had had a chance to walk away and just send Excella away after disarming her, but she had chosen to murder Excella...

She had turned into a monster.

Eh...I got some problems with the plot. This chapter is a bit weak and short since I had really big troubles and used this to set up the next chapter. Might rework this if I solve some problems. I'm really trying to get this thing done now. Thanks for all my readers that find this entertaining enough to read.
